Google reveals the coolest video games, video game consoles among US teens 13-17

Just me who find this statement really fucking sad?

It's not only sad, its grammatically incorrect.

(these charts are on pages 9 & 10)

Interesting how awareness for The Wall Street Journal is significantly higher than other publications in both age brackets, and also among the least cool brands.
Well, it's actually the only "old-media" publication on the graph.
Guess that's what you get when you bully poor youtubers...

Videogames don't make girls feel good. I'm shocked.

Haha, EA Sports is less cool than Neutrogena.

Someone at Oreo just said "no fucking way..." under their breath before posting that link to an internal Slack channel.

After a month? Nah I think BotW is heading into Skyrim territory of mindshare.

I'm actually surprised Skyrim isn't on the list, it has done near GTA levels of sales. Why is Zelda so high on this list, or even on the list at all? I mean I personally love it but the series is not known at all as a high seller.

Skyrim was 5 and a half years ago. Was it popular? Sure. Is it still popular? Yeah, probably. Is it like Top 5 popular games? Prooobably not?

Is this US/NA based or a more WW study kind of thing?

Some of those caught me by surprise (like Oreo, of all things).

I just noticed my updated tag.......its not fair

Demographers William Straus and Neil Howe define Millennials as born between 1982–2004.[1] However, Howe described the dividing line between Millennials and the following Generation Z as "tentative" saying, "you can’t be sure where history will someday draw a cohort dividing line until a generation fully comes of age." He noted that the Millennials' range beginning in 1982 would point to the next generation's window starting between 2000 and 2006.[48]

Xbox 360 was the staple for a lot of kids x teens growing up after the PS2 generation , which makes it sad how Sony fucked up so much with PS3 at the beginning, so I'm not surprised at the Xbox 360 being there

Ps1 x PS2 was a huge juggernaut so I'm not surprised at that being the #1 brand

McDonald's not being in the top 10 is good news, the sooner it's gone the better 😈😈😎😎

Everyone loves Oreos, shits good

Surprised Twitch isn't in the top 10, that's a pretty big influence now

Can't wait when everybody leaves us millennials alone and blames everything on generation youtube, because what can possibly go wrong when growing up with social media.

I really like Oreos, Xbox and Netflix. Hmm..

Future televised political debates will read just like uncensored youtube comment section.

"Believe and Relies on Brands to shape their world" sounds extremely weird. You're better than that, Z. Doritos ain't shaping the real world anytime soon.

Also, very surprised Apple isn't on the brands list. Not that I care.

Yeah, that right there. I weep for that generation.

I might be getting old

OT but the funniest thing about the report is how Vice is seen as so uncool. Hipsters back in 2005 found crying over their LCD Soundsystem vinyls. Second funniest would be how high the extremely conservative, anti-gay, Chick-Fil-A ranked in 'coolness'.

Anyways, still looks like the imbalance between boys and girls playing videogames won't change anytime in the future, and I'm shocked about Xbox being perceived as 'cooler' than PlayStation. Especially with the relative failure of the XB1.

Researchers disagree a bit on 1997. It's like 1980 and Millennials vs. Gen X.

I'm '82 and many of my friends are '81-'82 as well. People like us right on the cusp of the 2 generations either lean more towards one or the other. I find I myself relate much more to the millenials, while a decent sizing of my friends have much more characteristics of xers.

Don't you dare shit on LCD or Chick Fil A.

But yeah I feel like the girl/guy disparity isn't getting talked about enough. These are young people being polled! Is that gap ever going to be bridged?

Growing up the normal kids had a ps2, the cool kids had Xbox and the weird kids had gamecubes, then the normal kids had the 360 and the losers had a ps3.

Wouldn't this be skewed by BotW being released so recently? I'm honestly surprised that so many kids have that much love for Zelda.

Are these people that grew up playing Twilight vs Millenials that grew up playing Ocarina?

The Wii was everywhere over the last decade, many of these kids would have played one of Wind Waker, Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword during their formative years. Although BotW is probably skewing things slightly.

If you don't believe in Oreo, then you obviously haven't tried the lemon thins Oreo. I for one welcome our future Oreo overlords.
