Gothic 1 Remake goes woke

"Slavery in the game? perfectly fine"
"Plunging your two-handed steel sword into another person's skull? go for it champ"
"Cleavage? OH NONONONONO"

Stressed GIF

So we can have hordes of violence, but somehow whore's uniforms aren't allowed in a dark fantasy setting. Have these dudes ever seen a strip club or redlight district in real life.

Kinda in the middle of this, I'm fine if they don't wanna make them wear stripper/mega revealing outfits cause that's not needed in my opinion just like I don't give a crap out bikini outfits in Stellar Blade and others. But I do at least want the character to look normal/actually look like a woman and these gothic screenshots look like drag queens lol, it's like purposely making them look like a man and as ugly as possible because of you know what.

Tides of Annihilation and Resident Evil, Witcher 3, Dispatch etc got the right idea as making the characters beautiful/normal without sexualizing them.

The funny part is the screenshots literally warning that facial animation and lipsync isn't yet implemented... which might explain the look.

I'd maybe wait until that's done before passing judgement.

Nah, wait. That'd require a tiny bit of critical thinking and if its fixed by launch the grifters can pretend they have actually made an impact.

I think the lore reason they wore that stuff in the original gothic is cause they were sex slaves but someone can correct me if i'm wrong.

I was like "maybe it's because the artists that sucks on the models and the characters turned weird", but soon after I saw this:

Btw the mods of the Gothic reddit are banning people who bring it up and one of the mods got triggered and posted this. Triggered pussy.

Yep, it's woke shit. I hope they flop harder than Zune

but isn't there a reason lore-wise for those women to wear those outfits?
Yeah, there is. The reason is that everyone inside the barrier is a prisoner (as in: The king used prisoners to mine the ore for his war efforts and the barrier was meant to keep the prisoners in the mine, but the mages made the barrier too big by accident, imprisoning themselves with the prisoners in the process...). And the barrier lets shit in, but not out. And one of the things that the king sends to the prisoners to keep them working is... women.

Serious question: Can you, like, scientifically justify your claims in terms of Fibonacci numbers, golden ratio etc.?

How exactly do they differ in males and females regarding shoulder width, and what ratios did you measure regarding the 3D models from the game?

I didn't even remember there were women in that game as the setting of the game is a open air prison but after reading the wiki it seems these women were sex slaves, which should shut up the wHaT iS tHe LoRe ReAsOn fOr A wOmEn nOt bEiNg cOmPleTelY CoVeRed crowd. This is 100% a change for modermn audiences and honestly pathetic. I though the world was finally healing.

The original characters look kind of ugly too lol.
I often wonder about lazy AI work done with remasters and remakes. I don't forgive them for this even if it's not intentional. You have the chance to make the game look better and you instead make it look worse.

I don't understand what the controversy is about... is it because there are no bondage outfits for women in the remake? I hope that's not it, because that would be hilarious.

I never played Gothic and I never will but based on screenshot both version is ugly as fuck character model.
Ok but what about Lies of P?

...sorry man, I've slacked during this past few months and got to catch up. :lollipop_content:

They looked like dogs in the original as well. Apart from the outfits this isn't much of a downgrade.

Technology has advanced considerably since the original. There is no excuse to make sexy slaves look like ugly dudes.

Other than agenda that is.

Guess this is why fans and players interested in the remake are upset about.

According to the reddit thread where the OP pic was taken from, in the original game these women are being held as sex slaves by some tyrant style character from one of the factions in the game.

I'd imagine they are afraid of being accused of "sexualizing victims of abuse" or something. But it still seems really stupid, it's just part of the dark fantasy setting and this is just another example of fantasy being soy-ified.

This is a lot worse for me than the usual anti woke cries of oh atsu is a woman killing men or whatever because it actually alters the meaning for the story and it's impact. It is nice when we get (very rarely) non sanitized versions of games who are not afraid to portray the ugly side of things. For example hell is us was pretty brutal about civil war and didn't shy away from the brutality of it when you get to that first village which has been taking over. I was very impressed by it and i wish more games would stop trying to pussyfoot around everything that might be offensive to someone.

I understand the sentiment.
But.
You couldn't seriously expect them to leave everything as it was. It's 2025.
This, also do you really want to see those ugly ass character models in stripper outfits?

Another thing having ugly characters in games doesn't make it "woke".

Most people might get upset by this but in majority of WRPGs even back in 2001 or older had ugly as fuck characters….its one of my reason why I always more in to JRPGs instead of WRPGs.
