Yeah, that's the unfortunate part about a lot of remakes. If it's a game from the 90s or even parts of the 00s, there's a large chance that things will change to make it more "modern". A lot of people may not agree with that, but you can look anywhere these days and see that things have changed with passing years.
Yeah, the characters always looked ugly from what I can tell, they just had more revealing outfits, lol. But man, it was a game from 2001, lol. I know people love to rage, but this whole thing feels like a bit of a stretch. I expect nothing less considering that grifter girl is trying to farm engagement off of it.

The gaming industry and movie/television industry over the years has gotten an influx of creatives that hate their target audience. Heterosexual men. Gothic would have been a fart in the wind without this group buying it, let alone getting a remake. The necessity of catering to this group is an unspoken truth that none of these industries will openly admit. They will even self sabotage in an attempt to disprove the importance of catering to said group.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. Not that 2001 didn't have quality, just that somethings (themes, subjects, etc.) that existed in the 90s and 00s may not make it into a modern remake of said game. To me the biggest issue I'm seeing with both original Gothic and the remake is it's very badly made model that goes beyond being just "ugly".
There are games that made characters intentionally ugly but still well made model but here is very, VERY bad looking models.
If this is their best they can do then I rather not see those characters in stripper outfits.

The problem is German devs (or probably most of Europe) takes money from the state for part of the development. Subsidies have requirements, and this is one of them.
That and I wouldn't doubt there are woke people on the art team self inserting.

Until nexus mod site bans them like they have done for flags ans other mods that make people look more attractive (funny how they leave Skyrim alone though). That is the problem with mods not being steam workshop ans all the mods consolidated to a shit sitePC mods, coming soon.

1) Censorship is always wrong, and when you are remaking something, you should be faithful to it, even if you personally dislike something about it
2) The women in Gothic were non-entities, there was no dialogue with them, they were literally just sex slaves provided for prison colony's boss in exchange for magical ore the king needed to wage war against orcs
3) This is not a dealbreaker for me, because it is such a tiny part of the game, but Alkimia should still reconsider and make the women actually look more faithful to the original game (not even necessarily those exact outfits, just something that fits their role more)
4) Reddit moderators are the lowest form of life on Earth, right next to pedophiles and people who talk in cinema

Fans of older games are usually very particular about what they want. Look at the Final Fantasy Tactics remake. People were thumbing their nose for a variety of reasons, for less egregious things than what we're seeing here.

Aye, the old designs are infantile titillation and should have been a bit more realistically modernised. Perhaps look to something like, Bayonetta or Stellar Blade as the barometer for how to approach it. But these updates are basically the spiteful reimaginings of some fat and ugly dyke who probably has aspirations of someday being referred to as 'Simon'.
Full disclosure: I've never played Gothic and I have zero interest in the series. But a bandwagon is a bandwagon.

Did they hire the Concord community manager or something? Concord instead of listenening the players and addressing their feedback they also tried to silence and ignore the complaints about wokism deleting posts and blocking comments.

Don't have the time right now to watch the video, but isn't it possible that this is just one NPC, or maybe a few? I only played the demo of the game and there aren't any female NPCs in that, but yeah, we'll see I guess.
I wouldn't be shocked either if this is just a youtuber getting angry about something but once the game is out it's just a case of different looking NPCs, some looking more manly that others.

Never played Gothic but I heard it was a great game, so I was thinking in giving this remake a try. Not anymore.
I can wait for these invaders, activists and terminally online people to finally get fired of gaming development. Sadly this will happen once they finally bankrupt all mayor games.
