Gran Turismo 6 |OT| Moon Rover The Castle

Any info on License tests?

Never had any trouble doing them per say but... man I am a perfectionist when it comes to driving games, gold trophies or I wont effing play anymore type of person lol.

Hope they are not mandatory because it becomes an obsession for me rather than fun gameplay element.

You guys twisted my arm. I just got back from Game Stop where I paid in full for a GT6 Anniversary edition. I wasn't even going to get it, but reading this thread made me rethink that decision.

Does anyone know if one will be able to use a GT5 save in any way? Transfer cars, earn credits, etc?
Nope:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-09-17-gran-turismo-6s-audio-likely-to-be-patched-post-release said:
"For Gran Turismo 5 to Gran Turismo 6 there'll be no real transfer of data," Yamauchi said. "The main reason for that is the GT5 save data has been cracked already, so we can't really confirm the validity of the save data. So my hope is that between GT6 and GT7 we can transfer some of that across."

The game looks great...it's really a shame about the engine sound tho. How the hell can they screw up things that much?

This should be in the OP. It's exactly what's going on. I've worked on a studio for two years, and that's a very good breakdown on the video.

Speaking of the sounds, OMG, they are beyond horrible. It just completely ruin the amazing experience of driving those cars. You only realize ho bad it is when you hear the real thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZzNWj1FQ10

Just the other day i was playing Assetto Corsa with the Ferrari 458 and it's a completely different thing with sounds that are at least close to what you can find in real life.

They just have to make this the top priority for next gen. Horrible vacuum clearner sounds just completely kill the mood. It's like kissing this incredibly hot girl with a horrible breath. You can live with it, but it kills the mood.
"There's still hope" (I hope. If they would still sound like crap...I'd lose faith in Kazunori and PD)

I know they sounds are "advanced" using a 5.1 or 7.1 system (compared to the "stereo mode" of Forza), but we all agree on everything else

I posted it at page 2

http://www.gtplanet.net/new-gt6-engine-sounds-could-included-in-game-update/

Polyphony Digital’s new engine sounds likely won’t be included in Gran Turismo 6 when the game is released this December. However, they could be changed in a future game update, according to an interview with Kazunori Yamauchi from EuroGamer.

kazunori-yamauchi-thumb“I think I mentioned this in the past, but we’re really working to change the fundamental way that the engine sound works,” Kazunori Yamauchi said during a press session at Polyphony Digital’s Tokyo office. “Right now I have a feeling that it might not make it for day one for GT6.”

When pressed on updating the sounds via update, Yamauchi responded that “There’s a good possibility that we might do this.”

Kazunori last mentioned the game’s new engine sounds in my interview with him at E3 in June, where he confirmed the sounds in the game demos were placeholders, and that Polyphony was working on generating the sounds in “a completely different way”.

Pd bullshits about their sounds every GT. We all get excited... then "the king" shows up, drunk again... and then our little brothers sending post cards from around the world years later.

Every time. Every single time. Will wait to hear, and until then, ill be pretending the cars sound like cars.

I think another thing GT6 will have over GT5 is event variety, not just quantity.

The fact that weather is integrated into the campaign is awesome. GT5s campaign barely used its features, probably because it was put together at the last minute.

One more question, have there been any improvements to the chase cam? It's so static and boring in the other games, where in Forza it moves with the car and makes driving in the third person considerably more exciting than it is otherwise. Generally play from the cockpit or bumper anyway, but it's always nice to see the car you're driving.

Watch the last two minutes on that link, can anyone tell me why a Z4 would oversteer and spin out like that and such low speeds? Time marker @ 7:30

Low speed = less downforce, Plus he turned in more aggressively than the SLS and we don't know the state his tyres were in. It did seem like it spun too easily though, my guess has to be worn or over heating tyres.

IMO PD only got two car sounds right in GT5, the LFA and the GTR. Everything else is off. I think certain sounds work best for whatever crazy system they use.

Outside of car sounds, there are a lot of other sounds that are just flat out missing, dirt in the wheel wells, chassis creak, bottoming out, chassis scrape, road noise, wind noise, ABS locking, water splatter, etc. Simbin IMO remains the king of sounds, not because their individual engine/exhaust sounds are so good, but because they mix all these little effects and the end result is amazing.

Despite some shortcomings i'm jealous of the guys already playing. I wish i could find one early copy to play before going on my trip.

Big-ass Ramp

hella bullets that's true
This looks great...but they have got to do SOMETHING about those god awful tire sounds. Shit has been the same since GT1, how do they go 15 years and not change this? Completely breaks the immersion for me :l

hahaha holy crap you weren't joking. that is PS2 era sound design.

So you can't buy multiple cars at once? And the game still has the long car purchase animation?

That's unfortunate. I'll tolerate it though. One of my overall goals for the game is to own one of every single individual car in the dealer.
That seems a bit of an oversight, I thought they were improving that. :(

Looks like he had old tyres, or he hit a bit of oil, or he just lit up the tyres enough to lose a bit of traction, could be any number of things really.

Yeah, tyres is likely.

The formula has been the same for every game in the series. I'm not sure you would expect something different for gt6+.

GT5 was an aberration. Event variety was garbage. The wide variety of events is what made GT1-4 great. This is a return to form, IMO. I enjoy 1 make races, drivetrain series, driving missions, and quirky special events. And the racing championships have always been great in GT games. Hopefully they have randomized weather going in the series this time (per the website, they have events with weather change, so my hopes are up).

Sunday, Clubman, All stars, turbo sports, 4wd, FR, MR, etc, etc. the "career" has been the same since gt1.

True, the basic skeleton and progression had been the same. Although given reports, this is less grindy overall. And GT5s leveling system basically ruined all the good stuff from GTs campaigns.

They can keep the same names and events as far as I'm concerned as long as they are interesting and they're not a time trial against the car that leads from the beginning. A "race" in this series isn't really a race.

Do we have any confirmation on standing starts? That would be a beginning.

Bugger. Good it's there for online, but if it isn't there for career races that is disappointing.

Prepare to be disappointed. They were removed from GT5 because when all the premium cars bunched up in the first corner, the framerate would drop to like 35-40 fps and tear all over the place.

The last good GT career mode was GT4. GT2 had to GOAT career mode with the power/weight restictions, it also had Red Rock Valley, Tahiti Road, O.G. Rome, Grindelwald and Midefield. That Opel Tigra Ice

GT5's career mode disgusted me. I hated everything about it, the loading icon after every click gives me nightmares. From purchasing a new car, to changing your oil, everything felt like a chore. If the online racing wasn't so good I'd have probably quit after a few weeks.

Damn it, this is why I hate the focus on resolution and graphical effects, it damages the damn game play.

This may be the wrong place to ask, but here goes anyway:

I've been out of the GT series since 3, and am now interested in getting back in. I've tried a few other games over the years, but where most feel pretty straightforward/shallow, GT always had the depth that was there if you wanted it, and the fun that was there if you didn't want to delve too deeply.

Seeing as how the newest entry will come around very soon, it seems like the obvious choice to wait and grab that. However, I see that 5 XL can be had for $10. My question is: if I'm likely only going to go with one of these for the time being, is it really beneficial to hold out for 6 simply because of the updated... everything? Or, is 5 XL good enough to warrant a no-brainer purchase at that price? Are there reasons why either one would be a better re-entry point into the series (besides the obvious price difference)?

Thanks dudes.

GT5 doesn't have more AA, it just has different AA. GT5 uses MSAA while GT6 uses MLAA. MLAA can result in a very high quality image when implemented right. God of War 3 is a good example of that.

Something is wrong with that. The videos I seen of the game didn't look that clean.
In comparison direct captures of GT5, which is supposed to have had more AA

Which videos? It might be the quality of the capture card. GT6 actually runs at a higher resolution than GT5 so it should look sharper.

I'd go with 6. It basically has everything that GT5 had (with the exception of F1 cars and the Top Gear track) and it does away with the main issues that 5 had (like slow menus and long loading times). Then you of course have an overhauled physics engine, more cars, more tracks and more tracks that include weather and time of day settings. It's going to be a much better game.
