Side by side comparison between the original Nintendo DS version and the PSP version of GTA Chinatown Wars. Both versions were emulated in HD.

One of my favorite PSP games. The DS version holds up surprisingly well in high resolution here.

The game should be ported to PC and modern systems, but I guess it's hard to get Rockstar to pay attention to anything but GTA Online these days.

I played the game on a DS emulator and had a lot of fun. Sadly I didn't pick up a PSP version, but I might still do that since they're quite cheap even as new copies.

whats with the yellow tone on the PSP version?

It's just the time-of-day system, I believe? The DS is fairly flat throughout in "lighting" ( it changes the color tones a bit to have a day/night cycle, but the lighting stays mostly the same I believe), whereas the PSP has some lighting/dimming techniques used for time or smog or mood or whatever effects they're going for. (It is unfortunately overdone, to some tastes; the Android version appears to have dialed back some color overlay uses, and combined with the improved resolution after scaling improvements on newer hardware, it's easier to look at.)

You can see the complexity of the PSP's lighting system versus the simplicity (albeit visual clarity) of the DS implementation if you jump to the alleyway cop encounter. The DS sequence is not fully at night, but the DS does not have those big light flairs when alarms are blaring.

Is this footage captured from an emulator? You can see the texture seams in the water on the DS footage? Usually this pops up when game is up-ressed via emulation.
