i love doing 10 races only to have it tell me "cant connect" when i try to go back into free roam which i then have to logout/login(much faster than rebooting) only to then see that the auto-save didnt actually save during any of those races and im back to square one, being told how to read the map and getting a call from Lamar telling me to rob the 1st scripted store....great, but hey atleast my in game cash is still there....
sure would be nice if the "press A to hop into Online" would give us the option of what type of online we want to join, better to just let single player load so you can access that menu

I'm finally able to go online freeroaming and all, but when I tried to do a shooting challenge, it froze at the "launching session" sequence. So yeah, anyone who's able to freeroam, don't do those or you'll have to restart the game.
That's how it was with RDR, not sure what people expected with regard to NPC population. The game can't handle that many AI paths online on top of connecting 16 players and etc. I mean, just look at the clusterfuck going on right now lol.
Even when I watched that stream the other day of GoldGlove or whatever it looked like it could barely handle the population it already has. NPCs lagging and disappearing (cars mainly) is definitely not something that should be happening. Obviously it was probably way worse than it'll ever be since it was launch day but man... if it was any higher in NPC population... the game probably wouldn't even start.
I'm even wondering if you can even have dogfights with jets or planes... it didn't look like you could on the stream the other day as soon as the one guy was going to get into the jet it despawned.
Not spending 1 bazillion dollar on servers to support the bazillion people trying to connect? They sold for 800 000 000$ on the first day...
It sucks, really. I want to play. But it's semi-understandable

Not sure but R* said they are removing micro-transactions until things are smoothed out.

Well shit!
I thought it was working finally. I got through the first 3-4 missions and got to lvl 5. I was able to load the character again but then it frooze and the character is gone.

If you don't wanna lose your character, don't play.
Plenty of reports about people losing characters. If you wanna take that risk than go for it. Just don't cry about it when it happens.

RDR ain't based around LA lol. Its in the old west so I expect it to be empty for the most part
Restart the game if you're stuck there for more than a minute. It happened to me once this morning and then after I reloaded the game I got into the race.

I gotta admit the shirts are pretty cool. Thanks to Dreadnine (whoever that is on GAF) for coming up with the logo for us. The logo creation tool very unfriendly to me.
Did it give any message about the server? It made me make another person but said it was offline and wouldn't save. But then I hung on on the character select confirmation so I couldn't go farther.
Now my character is back but I am still stuck in the loop of waiting for this stupid race.
Despite that, RDR's SP still had higher NPC population than the online did, so the NPCs were clearly decreased for reasons other than being in the wild west. Armadillo and Blackwater are like the most bustling towns in the game in the SP and in the MP they're practically ghost towns, with like 3-5 NPCs walking around outside at any given time.

On PS3. This is finally kinda working correctly. I've managed to get into free roam with 1 or 2 other people, and did a last team standing deathmatch and a race with 3 others. Pretty fun, lots of potential. Still waiting to see what it's like with 16 people, should be insane. I wonder what counts as Bad Sport activity? I was in passive mode, disabled it just in time to riddle some cat in front of me with SMG bullets to the skull.

Tried once today(PS3) still no luck on getting the tutorial race working, but my character appears on the wheel so at least that works.

No phone number. I never checked when I did the mission. Done the free stuff I could do with the car including

edit:Took the risk. Turned off ps3 and goon ago back in after restart. Wish me luck!
I couldn't care less if if I had connection problems, losing your progress is a different story. I'd much rather the former over the latter.

Connection problems are undersandable, especially with popular games like this, but damn. That annoyed me when it somehow reset my statistics. Lol.

You know what GTA IV had? the ability to remove those markers for players. You had the option of only appearing when you were close, or whenever you shot a weapon. I've been saying this, as far as a Free Mode, GTA IV is superior. You can't do anything to customize the lobby at all in GTA V.
ahahaha, fuck this shit. I finally get on, I get through all the shit, go to play first online match. It indefinitely loads session, i have to quite because i cant do shit. Start GTA up again, go to multi, I have no characters, all deleted. Now i have to go through all that shite again. uuuuuuuuugggghhhh fuck!

I noticed the same soon after I started playing online. Everyone is probably using at least assisted aiming so you should probably switch your setting asap. Using free aim is just putting you at a disadvantage online.
I'm saying. Lol. It's so fun when it's working, but the chore of having to wait for it to actually work is really shitting on my tits. Haha.

Are you sure? Granted I only managed to get in to one deathmatch earlier but it seemed to me like they were all on free aim same as me. Rockstar seriously fucked up if it's possible to play against people with different aim styles. There's absolutely no justifying that.

I tried to join a crew member and it said we were playing with different content.. wtf?
And now I'm sitting here waiting for a mission to launch. If the mission doesn't launch I'll probably have to quit, which in turn might delete my character. I refuse to do the tutorial for an 8th time.

Yep - tried this out last night and no go. I'm ok with waiting until the big wrinkles are ironed out especially since I'm still having a blast with the story mode.

The game works well for me now, except post mission I ALWAYS get stuck staring at the city from the clouds instead of being taken to the game voting menu--is this working for anyone on PS3?
Hit Rank 10 and met Lester. Once you reach Rank 40, you can call him and get your blip removed from the map. For a price probably. Rank 40. For a price. The catch is that other Rank 40+ people can reveal people who have hidden their blips for a price, at least that's what my take on the menu is.
