Because it was fun to ride an ATV through the woods?

I already played so many games running around in boring big cities. I want a rural area as well!

I'll never forget the moment I realized how big SA actually is. Still brings a smile to my face.

I honestly don't care which city this is set in, I just want some diversity.

So wait, I don't get this. I live 5 blocks from Rock Creek Park, which is HUGE and could easily accommodate your ATVs, Horses, Cycling..whatever. Plenty of awesome trails like Capital Crescent which take you from Georgetown through Bethesda in Maryland. Another great thing is Both Maryland and Virginia could potentially be parts of the game as well, considering DC is being given the squeeze by both states.

Where I stay at it goes from hood to luxury in about 2 blocks, so there is your diversity (lol). And yeah, this whole "DC is flat" stuff rings real odd to my knees. Riding bike here is NOTHING like Miami which is the flattest place on earth. The hills here are no laughing matter, that is, until the snow hits..then this place is a laugh riot.

Man, I dunno. I tried so hard to like GTA IV. I was digging the story but could not stand the shooter mechanics and the checkpoint mechanics. If I have to drive for 5 minutes to get to the mission action, then game, save it when I complete the drive section.

Having to redo that drive only to get pasted at the shooter section totally turned me off to the game.

I did enjoy all the random side stuff you could do though! Help me like GTA V!

They need to get out of the fucking city. It only was fun in GTA III doing that. Open the area up. Vice City and San Andreas were loved because it wasn't one single area.

Fine, take some Virginia farmland/country side areas, a fictional Washington DC with all the current day political/economic satire, a Baltimore-like city riddled with crime, throw the mafia in there somewhere, make the protagonist a white collar worker forced to turn to crime due to failing businesses who ends up getting wrapped into all sorts of political, mafia, and gang related crap trying to make a quick buck.

GTAV, book it.

EDIT: Throw in corrupt politicians, a McNulty and Bunk inspired police duo, Secret Service, the CIA, and you have one hell of a tangled web.

I hope they don't didn't give a single gram of fuck about the people who said they wanted it to be more like Saints Row. Shooting and moving doesn't feel good at 12 fps in any game. Maybe make the engine a little more console friendly.

I just want to see a nice evolution on GTA4 and a PC release on day 1. $60. It's that easy Rockstar.

I would have loved more open space in GTAIV to stretch my legs, though GTA:SA also had interesting things scattered all over the place. GTAIV took a ton of stuff away, so I guess it wouldn't have helped GTAIV to have a country side. It would have probably been more uninteresting than Alderney Island. They probably would have stuck a blue grass band in some shack to watch for entertainment. Also mud on the side of the road would cause your car to be stuck or something.

I would have loved to take these modded cars on a big long freeway.

True, but I assume they don't make the same mistake twice. Meaning I hope they include all kinds of extra stuff like packages (or shells or whatever) dirt tracks and hidden side missions so that when you ride through the countryside you can actually discover some cool shit. No one wants all that space when you can't do shit with it.

Coulden't really get into GTA IV, but I did not hate it. I just like the Saints Row/Just Cause 2 type sandbox games more. Saint's Row The Third and Just Cause 2 individually do the aspects of GTA I love most, hilarious slaughter and mass destruction. GTA is too serious to go into it as deeply as those, and I would not really want it to, but it's limitations in those aspects outside mods make it kind of boring faster.

I just hope it isn't another re-used city again, there are so many cities they can use.

I still wish you could install multiple discs on 360 and only be required to have disc 1 in he drive to play. That would solve a lot of issues and complaints about multiple discs.

It's possible because Forza 3 and 4 have done it. I don't understand why more games don't make it an option.

Yesssss, cannot wait. Just hope they learned the lessons of GTA IV, and what they did right with TBOGT and mix that with the sheer size, scale and variety of San Andreas. Perfect mix right there.

After Saints Row 2/3 and Just Cause 2, I expect a lot. I expect they will be pushing for another "Oscar worthy" story to counter. That's somewhat disappointing.
Yeah. But I remain hopeful for some reason!

I wonder if they will do a quick turn around. Like trailer Nov, then release early next year.

Yes please. But we know it's not gonna happen... On the other hand they already had a shitton of development time.

Speaking of playing in the past, imagine if the opening was you playing as a lawyer or (prominent) political figure in black and white 40s-60s, then getting shot/killed or whatever and your character waking up or finding himself in the same situation. That past character would have been your father or something like that, could be cool. Imagination is a silly thing, probably no assisns creed past/future jumping here.

After almost 3 years, I just unlocked the Platinum trophy for IV like two weeks ago. I loved that game to death, but the single player had huge issues........

Branching paths for the story is something IV needed more of. I should be able to tell people (like everyone in the entire third act of IV) to piss off if I don't want to work with/for them.

Also, animals. I want to hunt or be hunted. It was too much fun in RDR. More of that.

Then play those games if you want the silliness.

Please don't screw over what GTA/RDR has done differently from all the other sandbox games. They created a visceral, believable, immersive world with a captivating story.

Keep that.

Play Saints Row or Just Cause for silliness. Or mods/cheats and shit.

Ya know, there's probably a Saints Row thread for people who want to talk about Saints Row.
I'm pretty sure there's a whole message board for people that want to talk about games.

Fallen Xbot (cannot continue gaining levels in this class)
not buying into the hype this time. it will still play like shit and be boring after 1 hour.

GTAs have a history of releasing shortly after being annonced. Vice City and San Andreas were both announced around June and released in October. GTA4s first trailer came out in April and was supposed to be released that October (of course it was later delayed though).

yeah this is what i was remembered as well. i'm thinking may release unless things get delayed. they must have had a while to work on it though so i'm not sure if it would even be delayed.

By the font, I'm guessing either a return to Las Venturas, or a recreate of Washington DC.

EDIT: Woohoo! I'm no longer a junior. This.....this is a good day.

Naturally, a new GTA is going to get weighed against games that have come out since the last iteration. Saint's Row 2/Just Cause 2 have delivered some fantastic open world experiences and I don't think there should be an issue with people discussing them in comparison to a new GTA in this thread. I expect a lot more from an open world experience these days.

Animals in a GTA game? You want to hunt cats and dogs?

Hopefully it's 720p on PS3 I'm tired of the weak port bullshit.

Unless it's coming out on PC day one as well then I'll just get that.

Ugh, why the hell they announce a trailer? Just release it. I saw GTA V trending on twitter and got all excited for nothing.

They delivered crazy over the top fun.

But if GTAV should be modeled on any game it should be Red Dead.

Seriously. Saints Row 3 looks to fill every need of the "GTA doesn't have enough dildo weapons!" crowd. Why not enjoy it?

I swear to god gaf, if GTAV plays anything like SR, I'm going to kill everyone of you fuckers.

EVERY
SINGLE
ONE

The thing people seem to have forgotten is that GTA3s was king of the distractions, and fun. There dirt the bike course, rc race course, demolition derby arena, crazy taxi and a ton more. Saints Row borrowed heavily from the ideas GTA had and ran with it. GTA IV was the whole big change that turned a lot of fans off.

I bet they just didn't have time when making GTAIV, add to that their experimenting with realistic baggage (toll booths, cinematic car jacking taking up to 5+ seconds, slow walk as the main walk + taptaptaptap x to run fast, list goes on). Hopefully with this game they will bring back distractions, random events, faster movement, less weight/sluggishness, faster gameplay.

Oh and they need to work on their rewards and customization. Killing 200 pigeons was stupid for the reward they gave, and they didn't do much on incremental rewards for every 10 or even 20. In the others at least you got weapons, armor, cars, and health added to your hideout to collect for free.
