I thought GTA4 was by far the best GTA, and there were hints at a better game in RDR. I hope they carry down the path they've been heading.

Maybe this is all a joke and Rockstar will announce Bully 2 instead.

The kid grows up and becomes the main protagonist in GTA5. He also has a son you can take control of and beat other kids up with.

All I want is better-handling vehicles. For me, the floaty handling in IV was a major buzzkill in an otherwise amazing game.

Been saying this for years that these cities would be a great fit for the game, you can do either the Wire type stuff, or go into a whole political conspiracy route. Not that I really care about the series, especially after 4. Still a bit interested to see what the music will be like, that's one area GTA never really disappoints in.

This will be just one aspect of the infinitely long debate about where V will be set, but the same discussion preceeding GTAIV applies. The problem with Baltimore/Philly/DC is that, fundamentally, neither Baltimore or Philadelphia are any different from New York, or any other North East / Upper East Coast port city. Philadelphia & Baltimore are practically the same. Of course, people who live there or visit there will say, "No! They're not! They're so different!" But from a videogame perspective, they are both East Coast port cities with similar histories, similar demographics, similar neighborhoods, similar looks and feel, and neither of them are all that different from New York City. Now, where I'd tentatively distance myself is with Washington DC, which has a noticeably different feel from Baltimore and Philadelphia -- largely because it is the capitol city, and it is just different enough from New York... No sky scrapers, a fascinating street structure, and DC skirts the very real cultural division of North & South in the United States, where Baltimore, Philly, New York City, Boston, and major towns north of DC are very much northern cities with northern sentiments. Travelling from North to South along 95, DC is the first major East Coast city that feels different.

So, I could see DC.

But, Baltimore and Philly are fundamentally identical to each other from a videogame perspective, and end up becoming just 'baby New Yorks.' For what it's worth, I'd say the same thing about Boston, I don't think that there would ever be a GTA set in Boston because Boston is too similar to New York, except the possibility exists only because of the bizarre cultural phenomenon that American media still has with Boston.

*edit*

Caveat: The Wire is the best shit ever. But if Rockstar were going to capitalize on the Wire, it would have been with IV, not like 6 years after the Wire finished.

For some reason when I saw the gta V logo with the 5 representing a $5 dollar bill, I started thinking about how crappy the economy and unemployment rate is now. In GTA IV and the Liberty City Episodes, Rockstar included social commentary on the state American affairs, so I wonder how much the current economic climate in America will play a role in the main story line to GTA V.

Maturity, bitches.
The GTAIV trailer resulted in Never Gonna Give You Up plaguing the web. Hopefully history doesn't repeat itself.

I was NOT expecting this, waking up this morning, lol.
CANNOT WAIT, Holy shit.

GTA4 was far from perfect, but RDR was my GOTY 2010, by far, so i have a lot of hype now.

I feel the opposite. The missions were dull/boring but the driving and physics made up for it.

Most disappointing thing was not having an infinite health or crazy pedestrian cheat. They took out the majority of fun cheats. Ballad of Gay Tony was great because it was actually fun with really cool over the top interesting missions. I really hope they bring back the countryside and have some fun cheats. Invincible vehicles, jets/airplanes etc. all of that.

no no no no no no no no no. I want GTA5 on the next generation of consoles. The dinosaurs we have now are too old for this shit.

I really don't see them doing it it, but the earlier talk in this thread of DC-Baltimore-Phila got me super hyped. Capital City-Liberty City Corridor - work your way north en route to LC.

Pretty sure they'll revisit SA though, since it has its fans and they just did the east coast thing in IV. I guess that's cool too. A bigger, more detailed version of San Fierro would be pretty awesome. We've seen enough of LA in games and Vegas really isn't that interesting (casinos, desert, uh...)

Doesn't give the impression that it'd be a Vice City GTA, but I'll be watching regardless though.

I liked everything about GTAIV except the controls, unfortunately, controls are on the top of the list in importance for me.

R*, please make sure that in online races, the countdown starts as soon as the player in first crosses the line...especially for GTA races.

A fucking pain finishing first/second and then waiting 5-10 minutes for more people to finish so the countdown can begin...

Yeah I kinda wish they'd hold out for 720, but maybe as a swan song for this gen they'll put all they've learned this gen into GTAV.

Hope they stay away from the over the top nonsense that made san andreas/ballad of gay tony much less interesting. Leave that shit for saints row or crazy offshoot dlc like the rdr nightmare thing.

I'm pretty sure the heavy rumors were that it's a modern day GTA but set in the Hollywood/LA area. Gives me hope we'll get another crazy game like San Andreas.

Gay Tony is the best thing Rockstar has come out with this gen.

Boring shoot em up galleries are boring. Get that fix with any other third person shooter. Just because Gay Tony had fun interesting over the top missions doesn't mean it's the same as Saints Row. You can have both realism and great missions. GTA4 missions were dull and hardly memorable except for a few.

Haha waking up to this  , holy shit indeed, hyppppppppeeee

I feel like it should have been shown at E3 but anyway , hurry the fuck up next week.

I wish it was a realistic type Miami but I'll assume the tumors were correct for Hollywood/L.A,

This post needs to be suppressed so that Rockstar doesn't think this represents the norm. I'm not for it becoming Saints Row at all or zombie nightmare, but if they went the San Andreas route, I'd be so much more pleased.

The tumors were correct all along.

i don't think grand theft auto has ever been shown at e3, outside of the gta4 logo at the 360/ps3 conferences.

Yeah I was following those rumors, but I was still holding out hope - we'll see next week.

My guess is they want to sell a lot of copies. So.... no.

Consoles don't sell GTA, GTA sells consoles. If Microsoft or Sony could've landed a timed exclusive GTA5 for the launch of their next console, things would've been ridiculous.

Omg, what if at the end of the trailer it says its releasing next holiday season for the Xbox 720 and PS4? Good god I wouldnt know what to do with myself.
