I've said it before, GTA5 in Ireland (Belfast, Dublin, Limerick), Packie as protagonist
GTA is all about the British take on the US as filtered thru the media, GTA in Ireland would be missing what makes the series great I think.

I never will understand why people want a new game to take place in a setting we've already been in. Would be a waste of time IMO. Why not go somewhere fresh?
These are the same people who want every game remade as well. Something new please :)

The problem with GTAIV is that, mechanically, it's practically GTAIII with better graphics and a mobile phone gimmick thrown into the mix for good measure. Gay Tony is what the game should have been.

I agree gay tony was superior to the rest but i still had fun with GTA 4 , the fact that the city is beautifully crafted but various playground of all sorts just show that had they push the "thing" further they could have struck gold in everyone's mind from the start. i hope GTA5 is the next "vice city" in fun & style for this serie

I think it will have a political feel to it, set in "Capitol" city, with GTAV releasing in the same year as the presidential elections the game will see the protagonist working their way up culminating in working for a head politician or president etc. Enter conspiracy theorists and the Illuminati a la "The Truth" from San Andreas and you got yourself, in my opinion, a game worth playing.

So you think Liberty City in GTA4 was the same as the one in GTA3? lol

A real life completely re-done Miami would be just as different to Vice City but still keeping the same feel. Vice City had the best atmosphere by far imo it would be amazing to get that again.

ohh, I'm sooo hyped for this!
and I haven't even played GTA IV, lol.
=/

At least that isn't as bad as people who wanted to play MGS4 without playing the others.

Aaargh. I want to be hyped but GTA4 was so dry and stale that it's the only GTA I never bothered to play to completion. Need to see some details before I jump on the hype train.
Exactly my thoughts. GTAV needs to be more like San Andreas before I'll be truly excited. IV just wasn't as cool.

Logo is ugly. But to me, it screams San Andreas/Gangster like vibes again. I'm probably just being unimaginative though.

they could push it north more too and get it all in the everglades. so many awesome redneck missions would come from that.

I'll play it but I'm not that hyped for it. I think I would be happier with an announcement of Just Cause 3.

GTA4 was technically one of the best games in the series, but it lacked that magic of the previous ones.

So....I want....

Customizable Cars
Planes
Large city
Large open field playgroundy area

I can't think of anything else now =x

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
If it's more like Vice City/San Andreas, count me in. If it's anything like GTAIV, count me the fuck out. Hopefully they have remembered how to design missions that don't feel like torture.

What time is it?
I wasn't a fan of IV but it was by no means a bad game. Hopefully tone of the game is consistent this time out. I'm fine with them going a more serious route but go all-in this time. They also need to improve the radio stations and talk radio. Lazlow was a letdown in IV. I wonder when it will be set. I'd like to see the 70s.

From all we've heard it's probably going to be LA/Hollywood, but I would love to see it set in the Pacific NW. We want exploration! LA is too dense ;—;

So wait, I don't get this. I live 5 blocks from Rock Creek Park, which is HUGE and could easily accommodate your ATVs, Horses, Cycling..whatever. Plenty of awesome trails like Capital Crescent which take you from Georgetown through Bethesda in Maryland. Another great thing is Both Maryland and Virginia could potentially be parts of the game as well, considering DC is being given the squeeze by both states.

Where I stay at it goes from hood to luxury in about 2 blocks, so there is your diversity (lol). And yeah, this whole "DC is flat" stuff rings real odd to my knees. Riding bike here is NOTHING like Miami which is the flattest place on earth. The hills here are no laughing matter, that is, until the snow hits..then this place is a laugh riot.

Where did I say that I don't want it to take place in DC? I just said I want an rural area AS WELL.

And did you just mention horses?

Horses would be f***g brilliant!

im amazed anyone is able to get hyped for this after gta4
Red dead redemption is why for me.

First rockstar game I actually had the desire to play to completion. Give me more of that, maybe add some lite RPG stats and I'll jump back on the GTA hype train.

I wonder what city they're using. The dollar sign V makes me think of Philly or DC.
That's the first thing that popped into my head as well.

The second thing was that I am sort of hoping that the reveal trailer uses Power by Kanye West.

Yeah, I don't think any GTA outside of the US would work. If rockstar wanted to do that I think they would have to do it under a new IP, as some of the core elements such as GTA's over the top view on American idiocracy and humour would be lost.

Plus, its not like there is no variety to be found in a what is essentially a whole continent.

I really hope that GTA stays in the tone that was present in GTA IV as opposed to the old ps2 era games. People complaining for that have saints row! Actually, I hope that Rockstar just do what they want to do, and are not swayed by forums.

Besides, Rockstar don't really have any reason to go change, sales and reviews were high.

A GTA set in "Capitol City" would be awesome.

The Housers love to play on American Satire, and DC is ripe for that. If there's any place of corruption to tackle in a game like GTA, its DC.

Btw, didn't GTA IV announcement trailer basically broke the internet? I remember it was one of the biggest gaming event at the time. Can't wait to see what effect is this one going to have.
Rockstar's site went down, NeoGAF had 500s (like at every NPD until recently).

Hardly what I'd call "breaking the internet".

why? gtaiv was amazing.

gta4 was an empty husk, the 2 dlcs were better than the entire game combined, which wasnt hard, empty city, nothing to do but plod along in the story following crappy characters

Amen to that !

please be set in San Andreas
please be set in San Andreas
please be set in San Andreas
please be set in San Andreas
please be set in San Andreas

I just hope they do the multiplayer justice this time. The number one feature my friends and I looked forward to was multiplayer mayhem. And It was just a bunch of deathmatching. Weak.

No strippers. No minigames. Nothing.

Didn't at one time Rockstar copyright the "sin city" subtitle for what seemed like a potential game? I could completely see a quasi Vegas setting Becoming the next setting.

They only way it would have a chance to work is if it had an American protagonist, because you could still have the "digs" at America, but it would need to be set in a location that Americans are (or think they are) very familiar with.

Hopefully 5 is more like 4 than the others( just add more checkpoints to the missions R*) & put it on the Wii U (a large map on the controller sounds good to me).

they have a quasi Vegas in Las Venturas. I'd love if they took one of the 3 cities from SA and expanded upon it for Five.
