will totally Facebook friend you! *giggle* *LOL*
You guys got me all excited now, I'm gonna be disappointed when this isn't set in DC with political/espionage-assassination type overtones and it's just some lame shit like Vice City HD or San Andreas HD.

There's a thrid Vance brother that was way younger than Vic and Lance...Damian Vance and he time is coming!

I think I want another rise from nothing to super power. If nothing else, FFS Rockstar, please have something, ANYTHING in the game for me to spend me money on. Every single game as soon as you hit 7 figures you don't need more money unless you max out buying guns all the time.

I got burned out on 4 pretty fast. The dating stuff was just awful and there seemed to be too many aimless missions that took too long to complete. Also, I didn't care for the soundtrack.

what??? 5 already?? don't they usually milk the 4 engine with GTA: variations first?

Who says V is based on a new engine? Besides, they "milked" RAGE more than enough.

GTA4 + the episodes, RDR + the undead nightmare, Rockstar Table Tennis, Max Payne 3, Midnight Club: LA.

They all use the RAGE engine. I'd say that's not bad.

I think they really need to push it this time, make the most controversial thing imaginable. A serial killer inspired by his childhood obsession with an open world murder simulator. Go for the jugular.

If it was written well enough, that would be an incredible premise.

They need to do something absolutely crazy with this game for it to be truly interesting to me. Have it set in a city that just suffered a massive earthquake or in a Blade Runner-esque future city.

Even something as simple as being set in another country or something would be nice.

Do I have to be a gangster to not like cops? Not even my mum likes these bastards.
Agreed, wouldn't like playing as a cop, unless you could work for gangs as an undercover or something. I wouldn't want to defend other police and shit though.

It'll be interesting to see if they've addressed any of the criticism of GTA4 and tried to bring the gameplay up to date with all the open world games from this generation, or if they've decided to just continue trying to make the series "Oscar-worthy."

Goddamn, what a thing to wake up to. I wasn't expecting anything until at least next spring. Guess that means we should soon be expecting a GI reveal as well.

Also it's weird that it's a numbered GTA game again rather than a titled GTA game like Vice City or San Andreas.
The episodes were this gen's Vice City and San Andreas.

You guys are going to be so mad if it's a GTA IV direct sequel and you play as Niko Bellic again.

Dabanton said:
Not really. They very clearly said good bye Liberty City in BoGt.

That doesnt have anything to do with the game being numbered rather than titled. GTA 3 was in Liberty City while VC and SA were not.

Edit: Just to be clear, over the last few iterations of GTA, they seem to save the numbering for new console generations or large jumps in the tech or even new engines.

I tried to explain to a friend that enemies would be invincible in GTA4 until a certain point. Playing it again recently it's so easy to see. Any mission that had a cutscene between chases, and fights would have the characters and cars invincible. They should have just made them unreachable until their cutscenes. It's a waste of bullets this way, also because they need you in certain cars, and can't have you improvising to mess up their cinematic chase/events they take a lot from what made GTA missions fun.

I think I lit that first choice kill guy up so many times with the handgun as I chased him before he begged for his life on the edge of the roof.

Didn't they make a super violent game where you were on a murder game show or something?

Manhunt maybe? Something like that.

manhunt was a dating simulator.

not sure what game you're talking about.

I'd definitely be pissed. Niko sucks.

That was another huge problem with GTA4. In the past games many missions had different ways you could go about doing them. In GTA4, there was only way to do the mission.

I'm kind of glad they're sticking with the current engine and consoles so they can not focus so much on tech and focus on making this game fun. I expect this game to have a shit ton of interesting and crazy things to do, both in the single player and the free mode.

I really don't care what engine they use as long as my character can finally walk through doors and up staircases without circling around like an idiot.

I wouldn't call them "lame shit" but I too can feel that disappointment coming. I REALLY don't want them to tread old ground with this game. It's time for some new cities.

They would've released that game a long time ago if they were interested in doing a SA or VC type of sequel. We're going to get GTA5 in 2012 at the earliest, which will be 4 years after GTA4 was released. GTA4 was released 4 years after San Andreas.

Yea, if they pumped these things out once a year, I'd gladly take a VC HD, but once every 3+ years would make this fairly disappointing that it took this long to update something like a port. I want totally original stuff. If this is just VC HD, then it will have been 7+ years since the last totally original setting for GTA game, which doesn't bode well for the other aspects on the creative side of things (especially given how creatively empty a lot of missions and side stuff were in GTAIV).

Please be a rip-off of The Wire where we play as an undercover cop. Make sure he's black so we'll hear: "No, a black guy rising up to the top is unrealistic. I'm not going to play the game."

I want it set in New Orleans pre-Katrina, with a finale that invlolves saving peoples lives as a near desolate city begins flooding. That or a foreign country like England, France, or Greece.

My opinion, and I will always stick to this, they wont put the game in area that would require American gamers to drive on the left side of the road. They just wont ever do it.

So many possibilities...

Capital City, an amalgam of DC/Baltimore/Philly

or

Windy City, a detailed reproduction of Chicago

Play as a former upright citizen turned to crime, ala Breaking Bad or as a bad cop

GOING DOWN OMG CAN'T WAIT

Haters suck it. GTA IV was amazing. No other open world game has managed to pack so much detail in an enviroment or offer the insane amount of stuff to do. The expansions were even better.

The fuck are you talking about? Its not like you have to drive in the correct lane anyways. In GTA, I drive everywhere - in my lane, into oncoming traffic, on the sidewalk, in parks, up hooker's asses - which lane a driver is "supposed" to drive in is of no concern.
