I was resigned to not hear a single peep about GTAV until after Max Payne was released. In other words, FUCK YES!

Hype for all other upcoming games -100

they have a quasi Vegas in Las Venturas. I'd love if they took one of the 3 cities from SA and expanded upon it for Five.

I'd take a Las Venturas or Los Santos GTA5 for sure. San Fierro was kind of boring though.

My hope remains with Vice City (although I'm doubtful). It was easily the best city they did. Taking place in the 80s probably helped. The atmosphere was spot on. I'd love to revisit that city with better technology.

Although I'll happily accept any non-New York type city.

Also hope they give us some decent characters this time (the supporting cast of characters was the weakest in any GTA (well from GTA3 and after)). Especially a decent main character after the Niko disaster (Johnny and Luis were alright though).

ugghh, reminds me I still haven't played the $10 copy I got from Wal-Mart dutring Black Friday a couple years ago. I just couldn't stand the first "Date" mission of whatever that crap was.....

Wow. This came outta fucking nowhere.

So it'll obviously be on this generation of consoles then, huh? Surprising that Rockstar is getting away from formula.

Oh ok. Admittedly I never liked San Amdreas as much as others did.

Personally I just want something new. I don't want an HD update of vice city or San Andreas, I want at least one original location this generation.

Better be better than IV, that game got boring really quickly and was a huge step back in comparison to San Andreas

Two things.

1) No offense, but why is everyone saying that this comes out of nowhere? I'm not trying to be a dick, but wasn't it already obvious and confirmed that R* was working on the next installment in the GTA franchise? Yes, trailer announcement is out of nowhere, but then again, aren't the most?

2) I really hope the V also stands for Vice City. I really miss that city. From the logo, unfortunately, I think we're not going to get another 80's based game, which is a shame. The only thing that was missing from Vice City were rural area's, like San Andreas had. And boy, where those fun. Sick of all the busy traffic and city life? Take the ATV and take a ride through the forrests! :)

Indeed. Revisiting a previous city would be charming for a while (see GTAIV) but an original city could offer way more potential.

Gonna get this out of the way nice and early.

It needs to be considerably better than GTA IV for me to even bother.

The fact that they really can't compete with Saints Row's crazy, outlandish fun factor makes me think this game is going to be an even more serious, boring mafia adventure than GTA IV was.

But I'm going to wait for the trailer before I make any kind of predictions or assumptions.

Although, the logo makes me think of either Vegas or Washington D.C.

GTA outside of USA ¿please?...really is boring..(no offense)

Outside the U.S. would be really boring. I can see it now, Nicaraguan GTA. We play as a barefoot orphan looking for Christian Childrens Fund handouts.

Vice City 2. But instead of following a Scarface-esque mobster rise, it follows a Miami Vice-esque tale of a deep undercover agent.

Make it happen, R*.

A big part of GTA is satirizing American culture. If they ever do another one outside of the US it'll probably be its own series, or, at the very least, subtitled instead of numbered.

Haha, you know its funny. I keep getting disappointed far into the games. Read Dead Redemption, LA Noire, GTA 4. Something about them just gets way too tedious about half-way in but yet I keep getting excited beyond excitement whenever they announce a new title. So here I am all hyped and I'm sure I'll be let down again :)
It's like they COULD make an interesting story but it's just much easier to wade into the character killing everyone for no real reason.

Rockstar, why don't you take your announcement of an announcement and go fuck yourselves with it.

Will watch your trailer though.

WHY!???

Let it rest. Why don't you want a brand new setting? I don't understand.

I dont agree, If you are a HALO fan you are going to buy the game regardless of what other releases are happening at that time.
Yes, but they may also buy GTA V along with Halo. Furthermore if GTA V Gets 1000 more people buying it than Halo gets. More sales for GTA V.

We don't know yet though.

If you think that's bad, you're going to love this.

My favourite part was having to click through to see every paragraph. Ad revenue MEGABUX

My day goes like this.

Waking up and going to Uni. Reading this announcement on twitter. Shouting out loud in class and everyone stares at me. Now I came home and it feels like my head exploded. Shit even my cat is excited.

Little known fact: Cats love beating up and running over hookers.

Hispanic main character.
LA.
Start out rich and powerful, but lose it all during the first main mission.

CALLING IT BASED ON NOTHING.

Ever since Miami Vice came out I've been hoping for a modern day GTA take on Vice City.

I hope this one is on PC. RDR not making it to PC has made me wonder a little about R* and T2. L.A. Noir is going to bomb hard on PC and I hope they dont try to use that to justify not bringing GTA 5 to PC.

Something along those lines are going to happen, in my opinion.

I think they really need to push it this time, make the most controversial thing imaginable. A serial killer inspired by his childhood obsession with an open world murder simulator. Go for the jugular.

Didn't they make a super violent game where you were on a murder game show or something?

Manhunt maybe? Something like that.
