Just play the DLC episodes and ignore the base game. They are better in every way, though that's not saying much. GTAIV was just a badly designed game.
I agree with this man 100%

The GTA IV expansions were better than the original. One thing is certain, Rockstar gamed the review system to inflate the scores beyond what the original GTA IV deserved. I hope people bear that in mind this time around. Who am I kidding? Of course they won't.

I disagree. Even hating the mission structure with no checkpoints and the friend thing, the game was awesome and deserved all the scores. Not sure how they "gamed" it.

Yes!!

Cannot wait. I still play multiplayer with my pals, and I still fondly remember such gripping game moments as Driving To The Apartment and Bike Chase Over Bridge.

One of my "Games Of The Gen".

GTA4 just wasnt fun...brilliant storytelling amazing characters, very high production values....but fun factor 0/10.
Pretty much.

Considering the high production value of the city though, I thought Liberty City went to enormous waste in the game. There were plenty of times after finishing the game that I'd be exploring the city and thinking "why didn't they make use of this in a mission?" Certainly in titles like San Andreas, the missions really made use of all the parts SA had to offer.

Don't you have to find all the pigeons for that? Man, that is more work than play, even with a map...
More games need to do something like burnout paradise, where you could copy your save on a usb drive then go to an official website and it would actually show you where on the map the stuff you had not found was.
It was completely optional and made life/collectible gathering much more enjoyable.

I wanted that sooo bad for the 360 version. Did they ever allow that?

NeoGaf is actually the great Grandfather of the Rickrolling Meme. People around here deny it, but there is no doubt that Rickrolling would not exist without NeoGAF.

A member here created the duck on wheels image for member Duckroll which was then used for the original 4chan Duckrolling meme where people would pretend to post a link to something but instead it was a link to the duck on wheels image. You got Duckrolled. This is how linking to the Rick Astley song became known as Rickrolling.

In the very real sense of cause and effect, Rickrolling would never have happened without that original duck on wheels image.

Man I actually picked up GTA4 with the full special edition at midnight on the launch night. I don't think I've ever been as hyped for a game as I was for that one. I've also never been as disappointed.

It's not a bad game or anything but I'll definitely be more skeptical of the reviews this time around.

Why not just cut the hassle and have all the collectibles' locations revealed like at the end game of Infamous 2?

I recently went to India and Mumbai would be a truly fantastic setting for a GTA game, will never happen obviously.

I'll look forward to this as long as it isn't a bit dull again.

Hopefully their characters don't look like muddy clayfaces. So many characters in GTA4 looked the same or had this weird thing about their face with the exception of a few. They don't look like actual people.

Even better.
I had actually forgotten about this game as it came out when I had no job/money. I need to buy this asap.

I don't know to be honest I only have a ps3, sorry if this was never allowed with 360.

Back on top I would love if gta5 somehow was set outside the states.

The timing of this announcement is impeccable. Just before the release of Saints Row 3 :D

PS: I hope it's set in the 90's.

One of my biggest gripes of the series is just how agonizingly slow the traffic moves. Especially when you're driving a vehicle and you don't want to crash it.

I couldn't play more then a couple hours of GTA4 because of the horrific driving mechanics, if they don't fix that shit they can forget about my purchase

I'll be very disappointed if they "fix" the driving.

If this doesn't take place in Toronto, I don't care.

I'm sure they don't. To me GTAIV faces look good by 2008 standards. I think the face will look something like RDR or even better, newer tech 'n all.

So, this pushes back next-gen console announcements until E3 2013, or is this not enough to extrapolate that?

Expecting the next console from MS or Sony before 2013 was not a clever idea to begin with.

This will be for the current gen, Rockstar is not gonna be the first developer in the world to have a trailer for a next gen console two years in advance next week.

Can't wait. Loved IV and especially the expansions. I'd lose it if they actually optimized this one for PCs, but I won't hold my breath.

Great, I wish this turns out to be a great game for me, I just hope the controls are better and the open world is more realistic allowing us to have co-op and no stupid cousin babysitting missions.

So, has anyone guessed DC? With the dollar bill V logo, something tells me it's gonna have to do with our nation's capital.

Same here. The cars could stand to be a little tighter in corners, but driving in GTA 4 on PC was awesome. Just need to counter steer a little bit in the corners to keep the back end from slipping. Maybe not as easy to do with a controller as it is with a keyboard.

Remove the friends mechanic, make sure the character doesn't handle like a boat when turning corners, go back to slightly more arcadey vehicle handling (if I wanted sim like handling, I'd buy GT or Forza, I don't expect GTA to have such shitty handling) and for gods sake add some funny in there and I'll be there day one.

Amazing news. I predict a spring 2013 launch. No way this will make 2012.
Why not? Rockstar are one of the few devs that release their first trailer, then release the game less than a year later. Happened with MP3, LAN, and RDR. It would've happen with GTA4 too if not for the delay.

You twisted my question into all sorts of retardation there..

Next-gen consoles will be announced a year before their actual release, so if they're not set to be announced next E3, as this suggests, then that puts their release at 2014 at the soonest. That is the point.
