I still think the $$$ has something to do with banking / Wallstreet. You know how the Housers like to inject their little social commentary.

Not even Fall of 2012?
If Rockstar had a history of announcing games and releasing them a year after, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. Game they publish spend another year or two, even three in the cooker after the initial announcement.

I wonder what's become of Agent.

GTA IV timetable from announcement to release was supposed to be 7 months (March to October) but was delayed to April making for an 13 month cycle.
That's a lot of time, which I don't think is ideal from a marketing standpoint.

If they show it around LA Noire release in May, that's still a 10-12 month cycle for logical 2012 release.
However not unheard of as Red Dead was May-to-May after being delayed a month.

Who knows, just looking at past trends and pulling a Pachter.

- GTA: VC hit off with the Kent Paul website in July 2002, followed in August with a Game Informer reveal.
- GTA: SA was first shown in May 2004 prior to E3 with a screenshot, the Game Informer reveal was released in June right during/after E3.
- GTA IV was revealed in a trailer released by Rockstar in March 2007 followed by a Game Informer spread in April 2007.

I definitely think it'll be fall 2012. The only thing that may make it otherwise is if they've been working on Agent simultaneously.

Can't wait. Loved IV and especially the expansions. I'd lose it if they actually optimized this one for PCs, but I won't hold my breath.

I wouldn't be shocked if it didn't even come out on PC. Do we know it's definitely coming out on PC?

Yep, Fall 2012 seems reasonable. The timing of this announcement is obviously deliberate, so a year wait till release would make sense.

And I don't think this is really comparable to an LA Noire or something like that. They've been working on this game for quite a while and wouldn't have even pushed out this announcement unless it was coming relatively soon.

Hopefully their characters don't look like muddy clayfaces. So many characters in GTA4 looked the same or had this weird thing about their face with the exception of a few. They don't look like actual people.
Yup, one of the problems was the face. They should incorporate the same physics and facials from L.A Noire, but they won't due to space.

I also hope we have more of a variety of clothes like on APB.

I can't wait to see how R* incorporates the things they did/learned with Red Dead Redemption and GTAIV: Episodes.
Hopefully they've learned from Assassins Creed series as well.

They need to have waaaaay more options and things to do than in any of their other games this gen in order to keep up imo.

Since the V and the Five look like the writing you see on US currency, my guess is you will play as the director of the U.S. Bureau of Printing and Engraving where you will oversee the management of a large bureaucracy and the production of paper currency, Treasury securities, military commissions, award certificates, invitations, admission cards, various types of identification cards, forms, and other special security documents for a variety of government agencies.

The tech behind LAN is the biggest reason why it probably won't be used in GTA or pretty much any other game. It worked well with LAN because you mainly had characters standing or sitting and talking to each other. It isn't going to work well with games that have characters doing a lot of movements during cutscenes since the actors have to remain motionless when recording the facial capture. I know Naughty Dog and Quantic Dream have both said that they aren't interested in using that tech because of all the limitations.

Yeah, you're totally right! I just hope something in the far future, will incorporate such things that L.A Noire had into big, environmental games like; Skyrim, GTA etc.

I haven't read through all the pages, so sorry if it has been mentioned, but I have a strange feeling that this is gonna take place in DC. Something about that V logo.

EDIT:lol nevermind, kinda on the first page

I wonder if money counterfeiting could be part of the storyline?

No way will they release the game in the fall. I'm thinking Spring 2013, unfortunately. Same with GTAIV, as that one released in the Spring, too, right?

Awesome! I started watching Breaking Bad like two weeks ago and for the past week I've been thinking how awesome it would be if the main actors cameoed in the next GTA.

GTA III, VC, and SA were released in October, and GTA IV was suppose to release in October too prior to the delay, so GTA V releasing in October 2012 seems likely barring a delay.

My money is on Spring 2013. Judging by R* lastest releases, they seem to like that march-may window. And Max Payne will be out the same time a year before.

Wii U please
This.
It's very VERY unlikely that it's for the next Sony/MS systems, so that is why there's no excuse for it to not be on WiiU.
Power? Nope, more powerful than current systems plus more space on the discs than 360 (25GB).
Controller? Nope, the controller's perfect for GTA.
Nintendo is for babies? If you genuinely believe this you're insane.
FRIEND CODES? Oh come on.

WiiU will very likely be out before GTAV is released, it has (and there's NO questioning this) the power, disc space, and the controller to handle the game.

No excuses this time Rockstar.

As much as I'm looking forward to SR3, I am interested in this just because 4's multiplayer was amusing, GTA Race especially.

That said: My prediction on location is going to be an impersonation of Washington, DC.

More missions like the bank heist and less like... the other stuff which I don't really remember.
Ye, that was fun. They should incorporate a Mafia style, to this one. The only closest thing was the McGregories? I think that's it?

October seems like a pretty good time. Hell, even September. But keep that shit as far away as possible from November. Fucking HELL month.

I'm sure some would want a November release just to see what would happen between it and the next CoD.

Holy fucking shit. Best gaming news all year for me. Trying to control my hype but...god damn. Really didn't expect this, given how they're ramping up for Max Payne 3 and whatnot. God, I hope it's coming next year.

Red Dead already blows most other stuff away, so if they picked up any cues from that then this will be similarly God-tier.

Well, a hell month turns into a ghost town if a GTA/Rockstar game is scheduled to drop.

A thought just occurred to me, next Fall could turn into a ghost town if Halo 4 releases in September, GTA V in October, and the new COD + AC 3 in November.

Wow, yeah, that would be an insane couple months for big name franchises. Totally forgot about Halo 4 coming.

This time you play a bigshot banker and fuck up America.
All I'd do is jack helicopters and free fall thousands of feet til I splat on the pavement.

Rinse and repeat forever. It'd be like reliving the best part of the 80s.

I just hope we finally get some decent police missions and police AI. I've been dreaming of doing stuff like "escort VIP" "patrol city" "stop bankrobbers".... in cooperation with AI cops. But I just know it's not going to happen :(

What are the specs for Wii U?

How are friend codes not a legitimate complaint for online?

You say this like Rockstar owes Nintendo. They published CW on DS, proving their willingness to work with Nintendo's unique hardware. Unfortunately the sales didn't pan out.
