Max Payne 3 and GTA V? How can they manage such a workload?

It needs to follow the path set by RDR. A beautiful, atmospheric, open world. It also needs simplefied controls, and a framerate higher then 10. But it also can't be as boring as LA Noire. It needs to find a middle ground between realistic and fun.And TANKS!
CJ handled awesome in San Andreas.NotTheGuyYouKill said:God yes. One of the worst aspects of RDR and GTA4. At least Max Payne 3 seems to remedy this, it better carry over to GTA5.
Playing as a cop might be cool, actually. Or multiple characters, including a cop. Never really liked playing as sociopathic gangsters in the previous gen games. Jimmy Hopkins and John Marston are my favourite R* open-world protagonists, the rest I don't find particularly likable.
I think games at Rockstar are pretty much always collaborative at this point with multiple studios pitching in. Red Dead Redemption was a San Diego production, but had plenty of key people from the GTA games/R* North work on it.Ben Pierce said:Goddamn!

Kotaku is garbage but I fully support playing as "the gang", as they mention, The Wire style.NeoGohan said:

Well i agree, but while RDR did this while being fun to play, with lots of things to do, GTA4 became a chore pretty quickly.MaddenNFL64 said:I don't mind "the fun", but leave the bungee jumping, or sky diving, or whatever as side activities. I really don't want my serious character going from murdering small time drug dealers with a glock, to catching helicopters by launching off a ramp on a dirt bike.
Make the missions go up in scope, but not silly. The middle & end missions should be more "Heat", with some "Bad Boys" thrown in for levity.
This is my my opinion anyway. I like the serious tones R* has recently, with some nice humor on the side.
You make that game, that game sucks. Can't please everyone.MaddenNFL64 said:I'm sure they'll find a way to make the game everyone wants.
Obviously but who cares? A trailer will be damn nice.mercenar1e said:im not going to be excited just yet.. the first reveal of GTA 4 had no game play in it.. i don't think we will see gameplay until the VGA or maybe later
I would not be sad if they removed multiplayer completely.Ether_Snake said:Maybe it will be a Pulp Fiction-like thing with all the different characters, crossing each others' paths, maybe even doing missions for one another.
Co-op too maybe?
NullPointer said:They could always ditch the idea of having you play as one character throughout. Give us a few different personalities that unlock through playing (like how new employers show up on the map). Each character could have their own sub-plots and side missions and perks that inform the overall story. At that point the city itself could be the main character.

More people needed to play Mafia Work and experience the joys of that multiplayer mode. I have way too many great stories from fucking around online with friends.Buckethead said:I would not be sad if they removed multiplayer completely.
They won't, of course.
Yeah well they can keep local and private but GTA like RDR was completely ruined by cheaters and douchebags who'd kill you just to be an asshole.NullPointer said:More people needed to play Mafia Work and experience the joys of that multiplayer mode. Good luck keeping your honor up in a GTA, lol.Dabanton said:I wonder if they'll bring the Honor Meter from RDR over.
-Yeti said:I honestly wish that the game world wouldn't be based on a real city. I think they could accomplish so much more if they just crafted an original city. It would make it a lot more interesting too.
Lets hope they don't use crappy gfwl and instead use steam.derFeef said:I hope there is a good PC version.

Sure it could have been smoother, especially by modern standards but go back and play that game.
Running, biking, whatever. It was FAST.
BlueTsunami said:Maybe its a decade ahead of that but a prohibition era GTA would be neat. Not sure what to make of that bill though and I'd be a bit puzzled if this GTA really is based so far in the past.
I know I agree, I was pointing to CJ to show how far they've fallen.NotTheGuyYouKill said:I was talking more R*'s current gen efforts. The characters have the turning radius of a semi truck.
