I just want to see them mix it up with a female protagonist.

Sure, it would be weird picking up gigolos and relationships with guys, but they need something to change the narrative.

And if the game is set in Hollywood (Vinewood), they should give the player diverse locals to traverse.

main character (or one of them) a latina woman. i called it a year ago! (in my mind)

Here's a new idea: What if Agent turned into GTA V?

Meh... so they turned a Cold War-era espionage game into an open-world crime game they've done half a dozen times already?

Though at this point, I don't think Agent even exists if R* North has been working on GTA V for the past few years.

I could just imagine them announcing the next generation consoles for GTA V during the end of the trailer, with completely different console logos.

No.

But I hope that this GTA feels very "un-GTA" if you catch my meaning.

They added stuff back into the game with the DLC but it felt stale and boring, in my opinion.
Base-jumping, for example, had no sense of speed and danger to it.

Just felt like them going through the motions. Need some fresh blood and fresh ideas.

If it really is LA...

I want this LA:

Not the coked out starlet parody of Vinewood/gangbanger SA-style LA.

They did Heat last time.

Nobody has done the action scenes from HEAT justice yet

The bank robbery in GTA:IV was very disappointing. The actual heist is a cut scene and the rest is just some linear shoot-outs.

They did one cool mission based on Heat. I'm talking more atmosphere and characterization.

Collateral is one of my favourite films to boot. At least it seems like Max Payne 3 is taking more cues from Michael Mann, if the next GTA game had the same vibe throughout as Heat or Collateral or films in that vein, that would be so cool.

In order to execute the Heat scene properly, the base game mechanics have to be just right. That includes having very loud and deafening gunfire sound.

I kinda wish this surprises us and it's not L.A. again. I want some European cities now :(

It would be cool if they set it in the former Soviet Union very soon after its collapse. I bet there would be all sorts of shady Russian gangster stuff to do and all sorts of scuzzy people (including former communist party bigwigs) to meet. But I don't really know a heck of a lot about that time period, so maybe it's a bad idea.

EDIT: But the logo contains the American dollar font, so it will surely take place in the US.

This is exactly why I want the protagonist to be an ex-cop turned bank robber in Capital City who gets caught up in political, mafia, and gang related shenanigans. There would be at least 3 great bank robberies. One to set the tone of the game, one for the "big score" that turns sideways and kicks off the storyline, and one right before the end where the main character screws everyone and gets away with the money.

SOMEBODY FUND ME ALREADY

It was also the best mission in the game and still not as awesome as Heat.

The parts in the bank being a cut scene was extremely disappointing. I liked the way Vice City did it.

Las Vegas!?

V = Vegas
$ = Vegas

Gambling minigames, prostitutes, vast stretches of highway, neon lights and lots of pedestrians to run down? Sign me up.

GTA will never be out of the USA.

That's the point of the franchise.

The point of the franchise is not "be in the USA." :p

Yeah, it's definitely in the USA. But there's a lot of potential to focus on criminal organizations taking place outside of the US. Lots of ripe satirical/parody material out there. And lots of fuck amazing cities to try to represent in Grand Theft Auto's trademark style.

I dunno, I'll definitely play it even if it's in L.A., but I hope they do something special to convince me it's worth going back to L.A.

So basically San Andreas.

I just wish they set us up in new areas. Seems like just the type of franchise to go bold instead of pulling punches

This would be my dream setting for GTA, 90s Moscow. It was more Wild West than the actual Wild West ever was. Complete anarchy. The government and incoming Western corporations were so busy picking the bones of the Soviet Union that the average person could do just about whatever the hell they wanted.

I never understood people who had an intense dislike for IV that also thought RDR was amazing. They feel so similar, RDR is definitely streamlined and such, but the missions are so repetitive, one of those big problems with IV. The atmosphere blows me away though, maybe that's 80% of it for most people.

RDR has stuff to do/find/collect besides the world/missions, gta 4 has cousin dates and pigeon shooting.

sand boxes are shit without fun tools to play in them with.

I'm guessing if they do Vegas, it will be a bit like SA with some desert/nature around the city then. They did it nicely with RDR. Could be cool.

You can expect some Casino-ish characters.

That would be super awesome but I don't think they dare.

Also, I hope a kind mod will restore you to full member status at some point. Your infraction was minor.

This game has to have co-op.

Play brothers from Mexico trafficking drugs and trying to make it in America.

I just keep getting a picture of a rusty piece of shit muscle car flying down a desert highway. That would be awesome.

Rainbow Six: Vegas of all games had a pretty epic street battle that reminded me a lot of Heat.

The only thing about the code (and leaked stuff) is that Rockstar is ironclad about stuff getting out before they want to.

Could be legit but I more tend to see them as red herrings.

That logo on the other hand, isn't LA/Vegas-y at all.

Totally DC.

Far less eloquent version of 'to skewer and comment on American culture from an outsider's perspective'.

You don't think an equally truthful assessment would be to skewer criminal behavior in general? There's so many criminal enterprises ripe for parody around the world! Share the love!

Imagine if Chinatown Wars took place in actual China.

Vegas would definitely be a great location. I mean they already kind of tackled it in San Andreas, but a game centered around a full fledged Vegas would be sweet... just let me bury someone (preferably alive) in the desert...

also Area 69.. DO IT... AND JET PACKS TOO DAMMIT
