that one was great. Revealed setting and character + left you wanting more. And the music was sick
Agreed, although I couldn't hear the audio. It showed the location, the protagonist and the engine. That's all I want from the trailer tonight.

A Vice City setting would make my body explode with joy. But with this logo I can't really see it happening..

Unless the ''V'' stands for Vice City or something.

You mean one set in the 80's or an actual city like VC? I thought VC had the weakest city of the 3 from last gen, but the time setting made up for it.

Agree with aiming for HBO/AMC level of maturity. I realize that GTA has catered for the "Wacky" crowd in the past, but we have squillion games going for that, let GTA aim for something different. GTAIV was a step in the right direction. Let Saints Row do the crazy stuff, we don't need to two massive open worlds for that play style.

besides Saints Row, we have none, also every game nowadays is "mature".

Rockstar puts out one attempt at realism and the entire franchise is hijacked now...

In the 80's. Which city? I don't care. I just need that music, man... That music.. Dear God.

Exactly how I feel. Maybe San Andreas in the 80s would be the best of both worlds, but any city/cities would do.

Anyway, anyone remember that plane ticket from the Social Club?

If it's San Andreas in modern times, looks like we might be meeting Niko. And hopefully an older CJ too.

Well, it's unlikely there will be a huge leap over GTA IV, so simply showing off the engine won't have nearly the same impact as in the IV debut. God that was an incredible moment. GTA IV looks so amazing...

So yeah, hopefully a tiny bit more than what we got with the IV debut. Doesn't need to be a lot more, just a bit more showing off of the flavour.

haha God I hope not. I have a feeling we will be seeing or hearing about Niko, but I hope that GTA4 and 5 take place in different "universes" than GTA:San Andreas.
I don't want to go to San Andreas and see CJ's giant collection of Area 51 Alien jetpacks he's collected over the years from raiding government facilities.

San Andreas got too ridiculous for me. I enjoy the realism of 4 and I hope they keep it with 5.

That's one of the reasons that people love SA. Rockstar's goal back then was just to give you a bunch of stuff to play around with. It didn't matter if it was unrealistic as long as they thought it would be fun for the player. I remember one GTA4 interview where Rockstar mentioned that they wouldn't include bicycles because they couldn't picture Niko riding one in real life. That pursuit for realism really stuck out once you played the game. Some liked it and it turned others off.

Im i the only one not hyped for this at all, all i remember now about 4 is the mass hype then the mass let down after everyone played it for a period of time.

I'm somewhat excited, but I would probably be more excited for another RDR at this point because it was way better than any GTA game.

You're not alone, GTA will probably won't be as good as San Andreas again. I am still waiting for Saints Row : The Third.

Okay, so if it takes place in modern San Andreas, here's my fantasy setup for a multi-playable-character, Pulp Fiction-style story:

Packie starting in Las Venturas, just off the plane (we need more Irish mobs up in this bitch)
Undercover cop starting in San Fierro (inspired by The Departed, could be Packie's rival)
Redneck starting in small rural hometown (never allies with a gang, No Country for Old Men style?)
Mexican gangster starting in Los Santos (perhaps an illegal immigrant? Smuggles people/drugs across the border? Cartel connections?)
Native American starting in a reservation (gets embroiled in casino business in Venturas, corruption a la Scalped)

One or two could be female too.

Some people still don't get it. Yes, it's probable that the trailer will come out and there will be massive disapointment, hell, it WILL be a disapointment, BUT half of the fun IS the wait AND the hype.

I just want to post this with everything I feel is in that picture.

This sounds good to me. I want a Pulp Fiction scenario with the ability to play multiple characters, all with overlapping story lines. They kind of did this with 4 and the DLC. But it could be much bigger and better .

a little over 5 hours to go for the trailer!

The constant praise people deliver to GTA 4's narrative baffles me.

It has a very good characterisation and acting, and does a fantastic job creating it's "world", but the actual narrative and the character progression is pretty much a mess. By video game standards it's fine, and impressive in some ways, but lets not pretend there's anything there to rival good storytelling.

Mafia 1 I consider to have the only good and satisfying story in open world games.

GTA has interesting characters sometimes and the atmosphere is what I play GTA for, but the actual story? Garbage.

Why are you guys saying the trailer will be a disappointment? You don't know anything about it yet. Or are you saying it so your expectations won't be that high to avoid disappointment?

Fucking weirdos.

To me the biggest hype would be GTA 5, set in vice city, in the future, with hover boards and mind control.

All wrapped up as an xbox 720 launch title.

So I'm setting myself up for GTA5, a direct sequel to 4, same city, same characters 'new surprises' like bikes and two new guns (one dlc). Released first on the 3DS with ports to follow.

Probably end up somewhere in between....

Only thing I want to know is if they're finally going to bother with releasing a PC version at the same time as the consoles.
