Really?... I thought it was pretty good. I liked the one with the rap song in Russian or whatever language it was more, but still the first one was a good way of introducing part of the city.fna84 said:
that one was great. Revealed setting and character + left you wanting more. And the music was sickfna84 said:
Agreed, although I couldn't hear the audio. It showed the location, the protagonist and the engine. That's all I want from the trailer tonight.Represent. said:that one was great. Revealed setting and character + left you wanting more. And the music was sick

Unless the ''V'' stands for Vice City or something.
johnnysix said:Agree with aiming for HBO/AMC level of maturity. I realize that GTA has catered for the "Wacky" crowd in the past, but we have squillion games going for that, let GTA aim for something different. GTAIV was a step in the right direction. Let Saints Row do the crazy stuff, we don't need to two massive open worlds for that play style.
SolidSnakex said:You mean one set in the 80's or an actual city like VC? I thought VC had the weakest city of the 3 from last gen, but the time setting made up for it.
Dries said:In the 80's. Which city? I don't care. I just need that music, man... That music.. Dear God.
zerotol said:The wait is getting brutal.... still hours to go.
I'm predicting an airplane / airport in the trailer.
Yep.
Well, it's unlikely there will be a huge leap over GTA IV, so simply showing off the engine won't have nearly the same impact as in the IV debut. God that was an incredible moment. GTA IV looks so amazing...Madrical said:Agreed, although I couldn't hear the audio. It showed the location, the protagonist and the engine. That's all I want from the trailer tonight.

Robot Pants said:haha God I hope not. I have a feeling we will be seeing or hearing about Niko, but I hope that GTA4 and 5 take place in different "universes" than GTA:San Andreas.
I don't want to go to San Andreas and see CJ's giant collection of Area 51 Alien jetpacks he's collected over the years from raiding government facilities.
San Andreas got too ridiculous for me. I enjoy the realism of 4 and I hope they keep it with 5.
Opus Angelorum said:Whatever this announcement trailer contains, there will massive disappointment.
You're not alone, GTA will probably won't be as good as San Andreas again. I am still waiting for Saints Row : The Third.madmackem said:Im i the only one not hyped for this at all, all i remember now about 4 is the mass hype then the mass let down after everyone played it for a period of time.

But what about timezones? duh.Radogol said:
spanks said:Okay, so if it takes place in modern San Andreas, here's my fantasy setup for a multi-playable-character, Pulp Fiction-style story:
Packie starting in Las Venturas, just off the plane (we need more Irish mobs up in this bitch)
Undercover cop starting in San Fierro (inspired by The Departed, could be Packie's rival)
Redneck starting in small rural hometown (never allies with a gang, No Country for Old Men style?)
Mexican gangster starting in Los Santos (perhaps an illegal immigrant? Smuggles people/drugs across the border? Cartel connections?)
Native American starting in a reservation (gets embroiled in casino business in Venturas, corruption a la Scalped)
One or two could be female too.
butter_stick said:The constant praise people deliver to GTA 4's narrative baffles me.
It has a very good characterisation and acting, and does a fantastic job creating it's "world", but the actual narrative and the character progression is pretty much a mess. By video game standards it's fine, and impressive in some ways, but lets not pretend there's anything there to rival good storytelling.
That's the gaming spirit.reggie said:hell, it WILL be a disapointment
