Huh? Of all the things GTAIV did wrong, DLC was not one of them. Those 2 expansions are exactly what I want from singleplayer DLC. Hell, I wish they did that with Red Dead instead of the zombies, and all that multiplayer stuff.

Huh? They did DLC weapons? Or was that for multiplayer only?
I thought I had heard something about gatling guns getting added a few years back. I never really explored the stories cause I was kinda pissed, but maybe I'm wrong.

Uhhhhh, neh. They definitely added weapons in the TLAD and Gay Tony, but neither expansion felt like they were held back from GTAIV to "pimp" out afterward.

I don't really mind where it's set just as long as the environment is full of stuff to do outside of the main story arc. Rockstar don't need to aim for Saints Row 3 crazy but I want a middle ground between that and the 'seriousness' of GTA IV.

I initially thought that I wasn't going to be as hyped about this trailer as previous ones but I was wrong. I AM READY.

So...the existence of a Wii U version requires you to buy one?

If it's exclusive or has some kind of timed exclusivity clause, then.. i guess :(

Parkour GTA sounds incredibly stupid. Sorry guys, I cannot get behind that idea at all. Go play Mirror's Edge or something. Or, there's Crackdown and Infamous. Keep that garbage out of GTA PLEASE.

fucking nailed it.

I want them to continue what they have started and tried to achieve with red dead redemption and la noire(although very flawed).

I want it to be more serious, better characters, better story.

I want hbo/amc type of drama aimed at adults.

No ridiculous parkour gang warfare.

Heh, that's a huge if.
I'd be shocked as hell if that happened, and I'm the craziest Nintendo fanboy here.

Assuming GTA V is released for 360 and PS3 (and their successors) the Wii U version might be the best version. :p
Possibly, but I'm sure GAF could come up with perfectly logical reasons it wouldn't.
i.e
"LOL Nintendo online."
"Friend codes in GTA? Fuck that!"
"WiiU is weaker than current systems! And I base that on absolutely nothing!"

Oh man, what has GTA become. If it becomes another GTA4 I'm never looking back.

While Red Dead Redemption was interesting, and better than GTA4, it wasn't called GTA, and it did get boring to me after the main story was finished. I think I continued playing to finish a few crafted clothes, and maybe killed a few target animals. I didn't get any of the dlc.

There you go. :)

I know it seems crazy but nothing ninty does interest me anymore. So i would rather not be forced to buy it because it runs at 1080p60.

Insane, i know.

there is always saints row if you want bazooka equipped clowns in pimpsuits.

But the game is fucking 30 hours long, how much gameplay do you really need? Anyway game of the generation.

Fuck no, even at age 17 I was getting tired of the story and the characters that I didn't really feel for at all.

More fun, more madness, more variety is what I want. I mean I played through IV's SP, and I enjoyed it, but it was nothing compared to the fun I had just trashing the city for no reason at all.

Also, "aimed at adults" doesn't sound like GTA at all.

Gta4 sucked ass. But it had nothing to do with adult content.

There will always be Red Dead Revive and L.A. Noire 2 if you want to brush your teeth, take your kid to their baseball game, or operate on a wounded cow.

I'm completely the other way around. I got tired of the "fun" and the madness (running around killing people and running people over) after GTA. That is, in 1997.

Nintendo doesn't need a timed exclusive. So long as the game is coming to WiiU as well as the other platforms it's a win for Nintendo. And Chinatown Wars marketing campaign was VERY poor for the Nintendo DS vs the PSP's campaign. It's doesn't have anything to do with Nintendo gamers not liking core games.

Adult content/characters etc does not mean doing mundane everyday things.

Do you even understand what the words 'Grand Theft Auto' mean? If you want some super serious adults only mature content for sophisticated adults such as yourself, you can go watch like you said some TV shows. (do people still watch TV series in 2011?) If more fun is sucked out of another series of videogames....

I agree with this post. There is no reason they can't do this and also let you free roam the city at your leisure blowing everything up, or whatever it is you want to do.

Agree with aiming for HBO/AMC level of maturity. I realize that GTA has catered for the "Wacky" crowd in the past, but we have squillion games going for that, let GTA aim for something different. GTAIV was a step in the right direction. Let Saints Row do the crazy stuff, we don't need to two massive open worlds for that play style.

I played GTA:SA for 3 or so years. It was my go to game for just having popcorn fun and doing crazy stuff. I never beat GTA:SA, though I liked it's missions a lot more than GTA4. Way more.

I'd play a GTA game to unlock the full playground (no wanted level, more tools, and abilities like being able to buy properties). After the world is open to me, I have a ball.

Only one person brought up Saints I think. For me I'm hoping GTAV will be returning to high five Vice and San Andreas.

as long as it keeps the amazing driving & physics from iv i don't really care what rockstar do.

derp.

GTA is not aimed at adults. It is just as much aimed at adolescents as it is at 30 year olds, so I doubt we're ever going to see any real maturity with the story.

Exactly. Rockstar is the only ones who can make such a game.

Doesn't it refer to the charge of automobile theft?

I fail to see how that means it needs to be crazy or over the top in any way. I'm not saying it shouldn't have elements of humor, but there are reasons old games didn't aim for serious drama. Video games are probably the medium that has benefited the most from advances in technology. Early games were simple due to technical restraints and because of this were seen to be a childish pastime. It's taking games a long time to stretch it's legs and start to widen out into a genuine story telling medium. The first GTA games did what they can with the technology available. Why limit them?

Seriously, please ignore my posts right now. I think they're getting less and less logical and more aggresive, for no reason at all, so I'll just step out of here now.

Personally, I want some of the madness but I also want a cohesive, attractive aesthetic and some fun writing and characters that aren't just daytime TV parody. Saint's Row is cool, but it's really grown into it's own identity now and I'd prefer it stayed that way.

Basically, Vice City and San Andreas did it best for my tastes. I did like IV, despite some of it's issues, but whereas the tone originally seemed novel in the trailers they didn't follow through and it just wound up restricting things and butting heads even with the more in-check design.

I personally think GTA could learn a lot from Skyrim.

What time is the announcement trailer being released? Anyone know?

at the very least, I felt GTA4 is not as juvenile as Saints Row 3 and I really don't want GTA5 to be like that.

No one knows, man. Just have to stay glued to the rockstar website and hope to catch it when they post it. There won't be any announcement or countdown clock to help us out :p

I think people are confusing crazy GTA with over the top Saints Row 2 + 3. Even at its craziest, GTA was NEVER as openly wacky are Saints Row has become. People just want a return to the crazy missions, and situation of San Andreas, not necessarily gimp suits, purple dildos, and mascots choke slamming people.

The constant praise people deliver to GTA 4's narrative baffles me.

It has a very good characterisation and acting, and does a fantastic job creating it's "world", but the actual narrative and the character progression is pretty much a mess. By video game standards it's fine, and impressive in some ways, but lets not pretend there's anything there to rival good storytelling.
