3 time lines in the same city would be great

That would be evolutionary for the series, character progression and missions based on years of in game change.

Any word on the length of the trailer?

I'm hoping it's at least 2mins and shows a bit gameplay... Though that may be asking for too much.

In all media, only true fans who consume every book, film, game, or pog collection deserve to know what's going on.
5 you say? Guess I need to dig out GTA4 from my game collection and actually beat it. SO MUCH TO DO. SO LITTLE TIME!

When keepin it real goes wrong. Very, very wrong.

Weren't the past 'first trailers' around 55 seconds? You should expect the same here.

I really hope this game will include more rural areas, like SA did, and make things more interactive. I loved 4 at release but going back to it the controls are total jank and the city itself feels kind of empty. I'm also not from NY so I didn't fully appreciate the realism of everything
It's really not that close to New York. Some areas are good, like Star Junction and parts of Middle Park, but it's sort of New York through what the rest of the world thinks it's like. It being just a fraction of the size of the real New York forced them to play fairly loose.

But I think Liberty City is absolutely beautiful and well designed. It's really fun to explore, lots of stuff to do that I find fun, especially when you include what the Episodes brought to it. I think all the major problems with the game were fixed in the episodes (the checkpoint system was a frustration saver) and RDR (improved shooting and cover system mechanics). Although I'm currently playing IV on the PC and liking it more than I did on the XBox. Switching between a controller and the mouse really helps the shooting system.

Both the numbered GTA's (III and IV) have been set in "modern times". I think V wont be any different. The money and the lettering of the "V" remind me of San Andreas. So like the majority of the people on here, I think it will be set in SA in the 'present' period.

As for the main character; a female would be a controversial change knowing GTA's audience, but I would be up for it. I do think however you will play as a minority
or maybe Claude
.

This is getting weirder all the time
Time to rear my ugly head in this thread.

London would be unbelievable. Especially considering we never got a Getaway this gen. I would love a London done well.

Obviously since this isn't that realistic, my best realistic option would be San Andreas again.

Hoping for a female protagonist in L.A.

Would be interesting to see a female character in, what has been, a very male centric game (killing prostitutes, etc.)

Yeah, I don't see Rockstar as that kind of risk taker, but it would be cool.

What? Rockstar are the epitome of "don't give a shit, we'll make it how we want."

We'll see, that is why I said "that kind", as opposed to "a risk taker" in general. Considering the hugely mainstream appeal of GTA, I could see some casual bros with a "ugh wtf, a girl, i'm not playing that shit" sort of reactions.

The difference between saying "fuck you" to the media and "fuck you" to a potential part of the audience.

I don't think that's too crazy. I mean, they wouldn't have to change the geography or buildings much (besides maybe one or two construction-to-completion buildings to help sell the passage of time). The main work would be the pedestrian models and some cars, which doesn't seem like that much work at all. Definitely easier than making 3 different cities at once. It's a cool idea, no doubt.

If anyone could get away with it it's R*. Although some of their 'fans' are knuckle heads. See the disgusting racist reaction to CJ and the outrage when they revealed Niko and some idiots said they would not play the game ever as he was 'muslim'.

They all fall into line though.

Prediction template everyone! Winner wins nothing!

Setting: San Andreas
Time Period: Modern Day
Main Character Gender: Male
Main Character Race: Mexican

or it might be Niko again?

Setting: Berlin (but with a mock up name)
Time Period: '70s
Main Character Gender: two characters, both sexes.
Main Character Race: US Male, Russian Woman.

It would also be cool to have a Transgender protagonist though, as nobody ever did that and from some minority that never gets considered, i don't know, SouthEast Asia for example.

Are there even any female gangster stereotypes that R* can write around? Then again, the dude from GTAIII wasn't too much of a cliche, and I really did love that psychopath.

Sounds like you should be in the Agent thread.

I think it would be awesome if it was based on like 3 or 4 different cities around the world. And the story takes you traveling between them. Like Tokyo, Paris, London, and Vegas. And then of course you can drive to the airport and fly to each city whenever you want. That'd be sweet as!
Hopefully by the time GTA10 comes out on the PS7/XBOX 1240 or whatever you can explore the whole world!!!

...in my dreams.

They should make it a native american woman, see how many racists and sexists you can get all at once.
