I hope it's more like IV. Imagine the realism that'll be achieved.

Epic Moments more like RDR.
Music more like VC
Everything else more like San Andreas.
Nothing like 4.

Atmosphere atmosphere ATMOSPHERE! NEEDS to be like VC so I can relive the best years of my life and shed massive amounts of manly tears while I slowly touch myself. Please please please.

I hope they fix the controls. Rockstar always has this air of "we're gonna do it our way, screw everyone else", and it led to GTA IV having a woefully shitty control scheme. There's no shame in just copying the standard Left trigger, Right Trigger, Cover button idea that every other game uses because that's what works. All of Rockstar's lofty ideas about analogue free-aim to lock-on, or Resident Evil walking speeds that look great in trailers but don't work at all in gameplay actively made the game worse; GTA IV would have been much better if they'd just patched in another game's controls.

For this to be on the next generation of consoles it would have to be late 2013. How far in advance was the GTA IV announcement trailer? I'm guessing late 2012.
GTA4's first trailer was March '07, for a holiday 07 release, then it was delay till the next year.

I don't want Vegas. It's a flat, sprawling desert with hundreds of square miles of suburban wasteland and a dense but small downtown area. That wouldn't translate to a very fun open world to explore.

IV and it's DLC was one of my favorite games of this gen. Very excited for this, I hope they go further down the IV route. A sympathetic character would be a good start.

Vegas plz.

And I'd like to go from being left for dead to owning a chain of casinos.

plus a drug dealing metagame.

The only issue with Vegas is that it's a driving boredom fest (all flat and no turns), which would (for me) clearly impact the traffic gameplay, unless they decide to greatly deviate from the source of inspiration.

Edit : beaten to it for 1 minut by DabuddaDa

This is awesome. Hopefully with how awesome Saints Row the Third is turning out R* ups their game whether they take the silly approach like San Andreas or a more serious approach like RDR. I'm up for both.

Combovers don't work when there is no hair
That font on 'Five' doesn't look like it's from the 80s, which means it doesn't look related to Vice City, which means I'm not interested. Meh.

GTA:SA says you are wrong, as long as they take some license with it. That said, I don't want Vegas either. I want a new city.

True. But the possibilities of having places like Area 51, the Hoover Dam and an Airforce base nearby gives the game a lot of potential story arcs..

I'd love to try and infiltrate Area 51 wearing a scientist uniform.. 10 star wanted level...

I thought Liberty City again would be boring again in IV. Turned out it was the best game environment ever made, and still is to this day.

So it can be Vice City, San Andreas, or wherever else. I don't really care. Rockstar have my complete faith.

So hyped about this :) Now that they have the engine hopefully they've spent the past years creating a more varied and dynamic campaign than 4 was.

Nov.2nd is also Sony's earnings call! OH SHIT EXCLUSIVE ANNOUNCEMENT INCOMING! j/k

I really hope Rockstar gets this right.
GTA IV "realistic" thing just didn't work... It wasn't GTA

Saints Row: The Third looks so much fun, more than any GTA title ever

Do you understand the differences between the cities of Los Angeles and Las Vegas? Look at some maps.
Did you play SA? Did you notice the giant city out in the desert that is modelled off Vegas? Las Venturas? It had all sorts of cool shit around it.

GTA SA had Los Santos (Los Angeles), San Fierro (San Francisco) ans Las Venturas (Las Vegas).

I'm glad they're not waiting for the next generation. It allows them to focus on the more important aspects such as gameplay, story and getting the most out of the current systems rather than focusing a lot of their time on creating a brand new engine.

Well GTA : SA did only a few parts in "Vegas", they had tons of things going in the Countryside and "LA" to vary a bit.

Which makes me wish for ONE thing in GTA V :

Pllleaassee give us some countryside back (not much mind-you, just to have a bit of wild and a potential "break" from the city for some missions to bring in some variety).

I'm sure they can do it, their engine has proven to be marvellous for wild environment in RDR.

When keepin it real goes wrong. Very, very wrong.
I love GTA IV, Played it more than any game this gen.. The online free mode is just crazy stuff.

I was going to buy saints row 3 but i'l just wait for this trailer now.

Actually:
wikipedia said:
The game is set in the fictional state of San Andreas, which is based on Nevada, California, and Arizona, comprising three metropolitan cities: Los Santos, based on Los Angeles, San Fierro, based on San Francisco and Las Venturas, based on Las Vegas, with deserts, rivers, forests and a mountain separating the cities.

Yes, it was 1/3 (if even) of the world, not the entire world. There are only so many liberties to be taken with something so desolate and bland before it loses its original character in the first place.

I'm still sticking with an entirely different country.

Yeah, city only would be a set back to me, I loved the countryside stuff. It's the biggest thing missing from SR for me.
