Time for Nintendo to put their money where their mouth is! GTAV on WiiU? Somehow, although being a nostalgic Nintendo-fan, I doubt it. Would be a nice announcement, though... right?

Still hyped though.

While looking at the logo with dollar references I know that I'd kill for some Washington-Baltimore action.

This shit would be great if they go that route. But I honestly think they're going to go Las Vegas route. Just my guess.

It's gotta be Vegas. Going from rags to a goddamn property builder is made for GTA. The gambling mini games could be good IF they have a good money system instead of like in previous entries. If you can buy loads of useful stuff it's going to be fun as hell to go to a roulette table and put all your money on black and watch the table, and I say this as a former gambling addict. They can make this game fucking ACE if they put a lot of thought into the money system.

Also, the story and dialogue will be even better enhanced with Vegas as a setting. And a big desert to explore that holds legends? Sign me UP. Don't disappoint me Rockstar

I guess DC, based on the money theme in the logo.

Yeah I'm feeling DC as well, or another one of the locations where they mint bills.
Quote taken from the US Gov Mint Website:

"The United States Mint operates six facilities across the United States with each facility performing unique functions. Current facilities include the Headquarters in Washington, DC; production facilities in Philadelphia, PA; West Point, NY; Denver, CO; and San Francisco, CA; and the United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox, KY. "

Most likely I see it being DC, but I guess Philly could work too.

95% chance it's set in fictionalised America
5% chance it's set in fictionalised London

That's it. There's no chance of it being in a non-English speaking European or Far Eastern country. No changc.

Assuming, that V would be on 360/PS3, then yes - it would be a nice annoucement, as Wii U version would look better than 360/PS3 one.

GTA Vienna. *swoons*

It looks like the series is going back to its over-the-top style of Vice City and San Andreas, hopefully. That is completely judging it off from the logo though.

Vegas isn't a big enough city to make this game look good in comparison to GTAIV. I would be fine if it were Miami again or all the cities of SA.

I'd applaud it if the whole game played out as a cynical dig on the bankers of Wall Street. But they just did Liberty City, do it can't really happen. All other American setting are just derivative of their previous games really and don't interest me at all. Really disappointed this won't be set on another continent, cause I felt that was the only thing justifying yet a new entry into the tiring series.

They better go all out with the soundtrack. How awesome would it be if I could listen to one or two stations and never get a repeating track throughout the entire story?

Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand all say the hell with you.
you are right though, no way it will be anywhere outside the US unless it is London.

I don't really get this point of view, do you only watch one film set in New York? One episode of Seinfeld?

The V font is from the American Dollar. There's no chance it takes place outside of the United States.

They could always add fictional stuff!

Yeah I just hate GTA games, and I hate how you can't say anything bad about as well, its nothing that good its just over hyped. They not game's I would hold as being the best of the best

Maybe Im the only one that hate GTA game's they boring and wasted of time to me

You can hate whatever you want. I hate (dislike) many games, I just avoid their threads. More power to you to voice your dissenting opinion (although MANY others disliked GTAIV) I'll never understand the need to jump into threads and say "hate this, always have", but everybody uses forums differently I guess.

And I think somebody mentioned DC ... imagine going from a criminal to a president! The true American dream! Rigging elections, bribing congress, shmoozing lobbyists ... it doesn't get any more real than that.

EDIT: And being from the US I'm completely selfish in saying I'm glad it's not set outside of here. I like the humor and all the inside jokes and quips and passing commentary on the radio that I understand. I think if they did another country I wouldn't catch a lot of the subtle satire. Completely selfish, but it's the main reasoning. Other games can do other countries ... but not GTA (just yet).

I'm going to be so disappointed if it ends up being Vegas. I wish GTA would tackle a European or Asian city.

Yes, there are sooo many fantastic cities to set a GTA in, puzzles me that all 3D GTA have been restricted to the US (not that I mind, just willing to see some change).

Cities like Barcelona, Tokyo or Paris would be absolutely fantastics. But I can think of dozens of other that would fit the bill.

When keepin it real goes wrong. Very, very wrong.

Then people would say it's too similar to San Andreas.

The problem is that they've covered most of the major cities in the United States.

I'm sticking to the DC/Baltimore/Philly idea. The US Mint in relation to the "V" in the logo, and the current political/economic climate seems to fit the most. Going back to Las Venturas would be slightly disappointing.

Grand Theft Autos comedy revolves around satire. There's nowhere in the world easier to create satirical comedy for a western audience than being set in America. The UK too, maybe, but significantly less so.

It'll be America.
