It’s just a texture. You have been fooled.Even the "foam of the waves" is in 3D, not just a texture

But it’s pretty convincing

If it has "the same" graphics as RDR2, it will be one of the most disappointing games in modern history.yep, the most important thing is physics and A.I
I mean, i'm totally tired of dumb NPCs and arcade physics, and I wish this game have at least the same Red Dead 2 graphics, Am I exagerating ??
Unfortunately they probably started developing the game on old gen, i expect same graphic of hfw (with worse characters but better locations) but with better physics, simulations and microdetails. If it has "the same" graphics as RDR2, it will be one of the most disappointing games in modern history.
I expect it to look much better than that. And I think we can expect that. Don't let the early leaks fool you. When we see it again I am expecting greatness.
It's well put together I just don't find it technologically impressive, that's all.Without sounding hyperbolic... Quite literally everything.
From the water, the foam on the water, the clouds, the rock textures, the lighting, the way the water splashes create mist as it hits the rocks.
Are we seeing the same gif here?

I am FOAMING at this foam.
What's impressive about it?

Ah my bad I didn't know even their 30fps modes were full 2160p!Ratchet and miles’ Fidelity modes were native 4k.
Their performance modes use the temporal injection tech that they used in the pro versions of the ratchet remake and the first Spider-Man.
I would love to see them use the ps5 ssd tech but after seeing nd, ssm, gg and polyphony digital phone in their games last year, I’m not going to hope for the best. GG and ND had the opportunity to release next Gen only games and couldn’t do much with it. At some point unless you completely overhaul your engine with next Gen paradigms, you are going to end up bottlenecking yourself with last Gen engines like the forspoken devs and GG did with the burning shores dlc i.e, pop in galore, slow flying speeds etc.
I’m sure gta6 will be the most detailed game ever. I still get YouTube videos of details in rdr2 Recommended to me. Stuff like farmers nailing fences, people eating food and their plates updating in real-time, trees being cut and their textures being animated as they are slowly chopped. But those require manpower and i don’t find stuff like that impressive anymore. You need 3000 devs to do stuff like that and while rockstar has them, id rather see simulations that i can manipulate and play around with. Some dude meticulously animating nails going into fences with every hammer hit isn’t something i can actually play around with.
I mean, the ocean in that GIF is not fundamentally different from what we saw in Crysis 1...
The Order 1886 still looks like a PS5 game…CGI.
this is interesting, cause I've seen that open world games from next gen console, are graphically equivalent to linear well made games from last gen... So I hope to see some graphical jump to something way better in linear games from this currently gen, like HELLBLADE 2.Unfortunately they probably started developing the game on old gen, i expect same graphic of hfw (with worse characters but better locations) but with better physics, simulations and microdetails.
That game did have a lot of real world shot material assets in it with photogrammetry. So its not a surprise it holds up well. The level of detail in the enviroments and textures in that games was astounding good at the time and stlll holds up pretty well today. The Order 1886 still looks like a PS5 game…CGI.
If GTA 6 has similar graphics to RDR2 then that's a huge fail honestly. A game that's been in development for God knows how long, where the bar has been hella raised for it due to the success of RDR2 itself as well as the fact they haven't released a new GTA game for 10 years now, cannot look like a game that came out back in 2018 on last gen hardware. And people who have seen my posts in the past know that not only do I hold RDR2 in high regard but for me it was the best looking game last gen, so I am not ripping on RDR2.this is interesting, cause I've seen that open world games from next gen console, are graphically equivalent to linear well made games from last gen... Well, GTA is a complex game, so I'd like to see something even simular to Red Dead 2, or even a little bit better... But GTA is a very hard and complex project, so maybe around Red Dead 2 graphics, with those same physics, but with a better A.I, maybe...
This tweet won’t sit well in this thread lol:

Any games in the past 20 years that have reached / surpassed the level of deformation shown in this 2004 tech demo?
Even before today when it was announced Zelda 2 had sold 10 million in 3 days I think GG, Insomniac, R* and Ubisoft will all be building the latest version of their engines with BotW like physics systems which on top third party ragdoll effects as seen in GTA and other games I expect more things like propagating fire, wind interactions and geometry that can be moved, combined and destroyed in a variety of ways like where the industry was heading pre the CoD multiplayer explosions when games like Crysis, Farcry 2 and Red Faction were starting to push physics simulations.this is interesting, cause I've seen that open world games from next gen console, are graphically equivalent to linear well made games from last gen... It's actually 0.2 teraflop in handheld mode. 0.4 is docked![]()
No one is expecting bleeding edge gaming visuals on a 0.4 teraflop handheld.
Consoles and PC on the other hand...
BeamNG
And to a smaller degree, Wreckfest

You guys ready mentally?

First UE5 game. What do you guys think?
Bad quality but looks on par and a bit better than Demon Souls imo.

That demo was never released. It might just as well be fake.

Off course! Well, I only hope to see a great GTA Physics, more than visual, texture, poligon, but something like random cars in the streets, as much as real life use to be. Inteligent NPCs, I know, nothing like a Real Life Matrix, but more interactive and reactiveEven before today when it was announced Zelda 2 had sold 10 million in 3 days I think GG, Insomniac, R* and Ubisoft will all be building the latest version of their engines with BotW like physics systems which on top third party ragdoll effects as seen in GTA and other games I expect more things like propagating fire, wind interactions and geometry that can be moved, combined and destroyed in a variety of ways like where the industry was heading pre the CoD multiplayer explosions when games like Crysis, Farcry 2 and Red Faction were starting to push physics simulations.
Tiktok and social media in general love the crazy things that happen in games where physics systems end up producing entertaining and surprising results! Visuals are very much behind player interaction as games like Zelda, Minecraft, Fortnite, GTA V all show with their crazy huge casual audiences and visuals on par with the PS360 era which also means more devices and people can play them.
I don't think Millie is super reliable, but for the sake of argument let's assume this is true...then good lord are we in for a treat my fellow graphics whores.
Vid image quality too low to see.First UE5 game. What do you guys think?
Bad quality but looks on par and a bit better than Demon Souls imo.
My guy temper your expectations no studio even sonys elite have really shown any real inclination to push tech this gen...I would be happy with even some next gen only games let alone ue5 demo level visuals. You kidding me!? I've been ready! This will be the showcase that definitively shuts down all the "UE5 is the best/only next gen engine"/ "the matrix demo blah blah blah"/ "consoles are too weak; mid-gen refresh needed" nonsense this thread has had to endure over the past 2-3 years. And I wouldn't miss it for the world LFG!

Really? I always thought the animations in the first game (while webbing around) were pretty limited. It felt good, but it almost never looked as cool as it could be.Doubt.gif
Muscle deformation is gonna be cool but the animations on the first game where already at a fidelity that Im not convinced that there gonna improve it enough to warrant the same level of reaction as the 1st time.
I see what you mean. I really meant the cutscenes. The gamplay animations could use some work Im sure.Really? I always thought the animations in the first game (while webbing around) were pretty limited. It felt good, but it almost never looked as cool as it could be.
I just need to see a least 3 truly NEXT GEN looking games to have my faith restored in the talent of this industry.
I need a The Order moment

As much as I wanna be this excited for this showcase I am keeping my expectations in check. What if this ends up like the previous billion showcases where they only show sub-par crap? or they do indeed show the games we are anticipating but end up being disappointed? You kidding me!? I'm with you on Spidey 2. I think that game will dazzle graphically, I have high hopes for it. The game looked amazing in that trailer, no idea why people said it looked alright I thought it looked beautiful.Lol no there's really no need to temper expectations with this one. Pandemic really did a number on you if your happiness threshold is PS5 only games. Cross gen is over for PS Studios. If you don't think Burning Shores and Ratchet objectively pushed fidelity beyond PS4 capabilities then your judgment is questionable at best.
Anyways I expect all 1st party games to impress next week, but Spider-Man 2 in particular has been the recurring topic of discussion around here with many if not the majority expecting it to be lackluster. They will finally be proven wrong next week, but whether or not they choose to admit it is another story entirely... I don't care either way, I'm just happy we all finally get to see what Sony first party can pull off with the console.
Me and you both Brother.Still waiting for Far Cry 2 levels of interaction in FPS games.

Be careful. Dont get yourself permabanned over Elden Ring again. This time they might not reverse the perma. lolGod that shit so hard on Elden Ring. I will play this.
