Its also the only game that included self shadowing on the main character. Where as UE3 had that shit on by default for every character throughout the generation. For some reason self shadowing was thrown out the window with UE4+?Days Gone is low-key one of the best looking UE4 games. Sequel running on UE5 would be mind-blowing.
haha the suit looks great.Where the fuck do you find those horrid suits?

Finally first game with next gen graphic, we're waiting for 3 yearsRobo
It can look pretty at times, I think I'll probably play it when it comes to PC.I was going through my screenshots and have to give another props to FF16.
This is the graphics quality I expect this gen. Just make it on more consistent levels since lows are really really low in ff16.
It's a bit of a shame because when it hits, it hits crazy hard. It's the first game this gen, I couldn't figure out of cutscenes are pre-rendered cgi or real time.
And look at that motion blur quality !!!
And those faces!
The soft lighting on this seemingly simple "anime" face is sublime. This easily looks like a pre rendered cutscene from previous ff games
Again, not the most detail but the shadowing and eyes are amazing
Love the morning light ion this game.
Its not just that. Their motion matching system is leagues ahead of anything released since. Like you said, only rockstar comes close but they release one game per gen nowadays. This is my absolutly favorite thing about that game. Rockstar is the only other company that does this and in 2023 that really fucking sad. Its like "put something there "....."anything" ....i dont care if its just a static expression aka place holder. Dont make me fight enemies with blank expressions anymore...im fucking done with that shit. Even Laura Croft in TR1 on PS1 gritted her teeth when firing her guns. Jesus christ already.
Im hoping Remedy takes notes from MP3 and includes those facial expressions in MPRemake. QB was there last Big Budget game and it had alot of really extensive use of Facial Mocap outside of cutscenes so with Rockstar paying the bill fingers crossed.
And those faces!

Is this joker serious? He really thinks this is soooo impressive looking???
And y'all were giving TLOU Pt. 1 in-game model such a hard time...
OK, the first shot I really like, don't care about the motion blur, I disable it in every game, but the shadows and how that light creeps in is just stunning.I was going through my screenshots and have to give another props to FF16.

0:07-0:10 is the perfect example of why I am so impressed with SM2 and call it the best current gen experience I've had so far. I didn't even know there was a train moving along until I uploaded the video. And look at the train's asset properties. Excellent geometry from a reasonably far distance. Excellent metallic PBR. 95% of SM2 world geometry and textures feels so stable beyond what we've ever seen from a video game. As if every asset on display and everything happening in this video would have happened regardless of whether I was in a different section of the map or not. Like I mentioned before, this is what made me hype with the first UE5 demo. The geometry and lighting were great of course but it was the seamlessness of traveling through an asset rich world with virtually no pop-in to take me out of immersion. Matrix demo didn't do it for me with it's frame rate drops, unstable image quality, etc. (all understandable for a demo showcasing new gen tech). Horizon Forbidden West falls short here too. SM2 delivers in this area. Maybe/hopefully Star Wars Outlaws or GTA 6 will push the envelope even further, but I will credit SM2 as being the first to break this gripe I've had with video games since PS360 era.

Sorry, I didn't design it. It's the first suit that you wear after the intro. It looks more or less equal resolution-wise to what's in Days Gone. In-game characters in both of these games are not designed to be viewed so close to the camera. This is how it looks with the FOV that I'm playing:
Yes, the colors are bland but they fit the world that they created. No crazy suits with vibrant colors here.
Yeah, game still looks great. Especially for an open world with dynamic time of day and weather.
This is great:

my 2 cents. Alan does Look good
Robo, again.
More towards the line of a 4070 sadly from leaks so far.Dick loves anything that's only available on PC it's why he jacks off to RT so much and also the reason he rolls his eyes and says "we don't need" PS5 Pro because he wants PC to remain superior and continue to pull away from 2020 console hardware. PS5 Pro would in most cases be very close to the visuals a 4080 puts out if it's the rumoured $599 console released in late 2024.
oops my bad lol im like 3 years behind on ye olde internetPretty sure he has a disease that makes him not grow properly
No subsurface scattering on the ear, no rt reflections in eyes, no hero lighting, low res textures on shirt. Alan Wake 2 looks better.Coming back from a 2 day trip and reading the last 3 pages
In cutscenes he looks alot better with hero lighting and better skins shaders. Its closer to Alan Wake 2 and does some things even better. No subsurface scattering on the ear, no rt reflections in eyes, no hero lighting, low res textures on shirt. Alan Wake 2 looks better.
Arma 2 looked like the Matrix demo undef "full Motion Blur" back in 2009.i have to eat crow, SM2 environment density is next gen, and looks like Matrix demo, of course all that motion blurring and small gif helps.

High quality motion blur invites our imaginations to fill in the blank. Things looking realistic under full motion blur isnt "technicaly impressive"...its old hat.

SM1&2's is Top Notch for sureGood motion blur implementation isn't a given. Some developers execute better than others.
I know alot of people like to hate on the little guy, but imagine living your whole life like that might seem funny but it would be heartbreaking when ur alone at home contemplating how you will never be taken seriously. Im really happy the guy has done great for himself. In cutscenes he looks alot better with hero lighting and better skins shaders. Its closer to Alan Wake 2 and does some things even better.
Is it controversial to say that robocop city looks better from ground view than sp2?
I mean controversial for anyone not called chiefdata.
Spidey has a lot of stuff where you are on the ground, it's not like you are always web slinging. In terms of overall graphical fidelity, yes.
But then again, Robocop takes place on the ground unlike SP2.
Sidenote: I know I've said it before but this game's ambient lighting is phenomenal. This is the best ambient lighting I've seen in an actual game so far (the best being Matrix demo).
It looks better than any other gameIs it controversial to say that robocop city looks better from ground view than sp2?

Good chance we're seeing Death Stranding 2 gameplay next month during the TGA's, what's everyone thinking? will they deliver the next-gen goodness. The first trailer was extremely impressive.
Its controversial that a $70 first party game from Sony looks a generation behind a $50 game from a c-tier third party studio. It's controversial because no one is talking about it and is giving Insomniac a pass. Not DF, Not NX Gamer, not IGN or Gamespot. Even in this thread which prides itself upon next gen standards it is not being talked about enough. As far as I am concerned, it should be the only topic of discussion. I.e., how the fuck did we get to this point where THE biggest Sony exclusive of all time just got shown up by a no name polish studio. Is it controversial to say that robocop city looks better from ground view than sp2?

I swear to buddha that i was expecting a "we got us in the first half not gonna lie" moment while reading your post after your recent insomniac cocksuckingIts controversial that a $70 first party game from Sony looks a generation behind a $50 game from a c-tier third party studio. If this isnt the best advertisement for everyone switching to UE5, i dont know what is. Lords of the Fallen, Immortals, and Remnant devs need a reality check too. WTF were they doing with UE5? Apparently all those games switched mid development to UE5 and struggled to get it working, but why was Teyon able to produce next gen visuals and assets we saw in the matrix demo? What did they do differently? It should be a case study.
Hell, Im playing Dead Space right now. looks good but not this good. Same goes for Star Wars Jedi Survivor, TLOU Part 1, FF16 and all these other AAA games from AAA studios who were shown up by Teyon. Just embarrassing for all devs involved.
Only devs who can hold their head up high are Remedy and ubisoft Massive. No one else even came close. But no video from DF on the game. this might be the top 3 best looking game this year even ahead of cyberpunk but i guess its not pushing path tracing so alex wont bust a nut while he zooms in on salt and pepper shakers to show light accurately casting shadows from curtains.
I love Spiderman, Star Wars, and to a lesser extent FF16, but if this game is ranked behind any of those games come DF's best graphics awards then im gonna riot. Only cyberpunk phantom liberty, aw2 and avatar come close and this game probably beats them in some aspects. i think the art style is rather generic so id be ok with it finishing fourth but the technical gap is way above other next gen only games for art style to come into the picture.
Yes, Kojima always delivers.
Baked lighting? or Dynamic? It's the only game I can remember where I was running around taking screenshots of the most random shit because it looked so good:
The environments are static though? what type of physics are in play? If it's just window dressing then I wouldn't find it that impressive unless there's a lot going on enemies etc?Its controversial that a $70 first party game from Sony looks a generation behind a $50 game from a c-tier third party studio.
