Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

I hope intergalactic is gonna look like this, but the brief gameplay snippets looked as unimpressive as my asshole.
Intergalactic looked painfully last gen.
I think it's about time that we stop looking to sony first parties to push the graphical boundaries, they're not who they used to be.

i dont want to see Cory's next game. Id rather see Intergallactic. Yes, the graphics are a bit mid but TLOU2's combat is sublime and i want to see next gen motion matching, and what ND can do with next gen AI routines.
Let them cook. they announced their game, finally.. Its time for Cory to stop hiding. They've given us nothing but a cross gen game all gen

im confident Intergalactic will have the best combat this gen

I have hope for guerrilla, they had to work with a crossgen game and still punched way above their weight.

The amount of people considering hfw the best console looking game even today in the recent topic we had speaks volume.

The bad thing is that horizon 3 is probably gonna be another ps5-ps6 crossgen so they are gonna waste another gen.

Man fuck you helmet and jim, you stupid duo of cunts.

The thing with Guérilla is that Horizon is a boring IP as fuck

I'ma need a 4k version of that video but that W4 gameplay looks stellar, a step above anything I've played thus far. Here's hoping nothing shown was fake..

For you.

I admit the second game wasn't as good as the first one (mostly pace\plot, everything else was better) but a lot of people still enjoy those games.

Also, i was just talking about graphic, hb2 is a shit game, and yet it's the graphic king.

Give it a rewatch. The Intergalactic trailer is in game footage. The very clear gameplay footage at the end doesn't look great, but I think that has more to do with the environment than anything. Intergallactic got an unfair wrap, imo. People were comparing it to The Witcher 4 CGI trailer, which was released at the same event

It will be fun to compare both games as they get closer to release

I watched enough, the cutscene look high level, like most cutscenes in high level games not made by ubisoft, the gameplay snippet looked whatever.

The environment look like a natural outdoor location, not far from w4 showing a natural outdoor environment, one just look better and it is a massive open world at apparently 60 fps with rtx.

Intergalactic is gonna be a much smaller game in size, it should not be inferior looking to an open world, it should be barely inferior to something like hb2, at least wukong quality.

At least from what we know, Intergalactic seems to have big hub worlds, if not open world. Neil Druckmann said they are taking inspiration from Elden Ring, which I'm assuming he means from an exploration perspective. At a minimum, it won't be linear, probably more like Seattle with Ellie in TLOU2

All I ask of The Witcher 4 is that CDPR finally work with Epic to solve the engine's stutter issues once and for all. Daniel Vavra (Kingdom Come director) mentioned a few months ago that some of his contacts at CDPR say they're struggling with UE5. Open world is that engine's kryptonite so good luck to them.

Based on the quality shown in that demo I can believe they're going to hit 60fps. It's difficult to judge image quality from a Youtube stream but if the game is that blurry then it's not impossible. Apart from their animation system, I didn't see anything jump out as looking like a step beyond what we've seen this gen already. It's just more optimized and performant.

Remember that this is a game releasing 7 years into the generation, it damn well better be fully utilizing the PS5 at that point. Just look at the difference between Gears of War and Gears of War 3 on the Xbox 360 over 5 years to see how far things can advance within the same engine and the same hardware target.

Very soft and likely ~1080p but impressive still given it's nanite (w/ foliage), hardware rt/lumen, has motion matching and is running 60fps on a base PS5. I'd hope they offer 30/40fps too as an option, I'd be fine playing this at 40fps with a ~1440p base res and some of the distant screen space artefacts cleared up.

At this point I'd be totally fine with them showing off PS5 Pro footage as long as they clearly label it.

If this comes out in 2027 though, then I'll probably wait for the next-gen version whether it be 2027 or 2028.

We literally just got a leak saying how the engine just got dramatically more performant in the version they will use as a base. I feel people selectively read parts of this thread sometimes and ignore the others.

CDPR being sneaky fucks as usual. They framed the trailer in a way to make it look like real gameplay, but also used careful wording to give themselves plausible deniability when the game comes out and doesn't look or behave like that. I might believe it if they weren't so full of shit previously.

yup they always used the term tech demo and not once did they say gameplay

Matrix demo was 1080p 30 fps with hardware lumen while this is 1080p 60 fps from what i can see. They have doubled the performance of hardware lumen in the last 4 years. Very impressive stuff.

That means the 30 fps mode should be 1440p with higher settings.

Pro should be 4k PSSR Quality with even higher settings.

And PS6 should be native 4k or ship with Path tracing at 4k PSSR Quality. Very exciting stuff.

The only thing that felt dynamic was the crowd stopping what they were doing and coming together in the middle of the town square. But thats also kind of scripted into their routines.
I do believe is feasible. Baldur's Gate 3 had something similar with their NPC. When you start playing an instrument, all NPC gather around you.

Having a script that say "when x play music x number of people need to get close" is probably super easy, another matter is making it in a believable way.

Is this pic that much more impressive than the best we saw in shadows??

Except for the npcs density\animations that are probably fake.

I sincerely hope the game is gonna look much better than this in 2-3 years because this ain't for a next-nextgen game.

Same wording they used in that Cyberpunk reveal demo. We all know how it turned out. The final game looked better. And not just because of ray tracing.

What they have done here is remarkable. They've shown base PS5 footage when they couldve easily chosen PS5 Pro or PC footage. They chose to show the 60 fps mode on consoles instead of 30 fps. They chose to show hardware lumen on consoles instead of path tracing on PC.

Remember that cyberpunk gameplay demo was running on a 1080 Ti at 1080p 30 fps. By the time the game came out, we had consoles that were just as powerful and ran the game at 1440p 30 fps with rt shadows. And 1080p 60 fps in performance modes. We had 2x more PCs that ran the game with full ray tracing at much higher resolutions thanks to dlss2.

Yes, they labeled this as a tech demo but its clearly realtime.

Why it would by "that much more" impressive than Shadows? Both are open-world games made with PS5 in mind. Witcher 4 it's not a PS6 game.

It's a PS5 60 FPS game, like Shadows. I'd say the fact it looks better at all is shocking, hence why there are so many skepticals.

"The most immersive and ambitious open world Witcher game". If only GTA 6 Didn't exist, they could say "ever". I respect the narrator/developer for that

That pic doesn't look any better than shadows tho, and the game is 2-3 years away, so more in the nextgen\crossgen tier imo.
I don't think the results here are finished by any means, and the lightning conditions themselves aren't the same. That's the thing about RT lightning, it's entirely day cycle dependent.

I don't listen to what leakers have to say out of principle. For example, every single thread I see about the words coming out that fat oaf Jeff Grubb's mouth gets put on ignore.

Engines getting more performant over time is expected and I pointed to the UE3 example on the Xbox 360. To me, there's nothing out the ordinary with UE5 being able to do TW4 in 60fps on a base PS5 after 7 years on the market. I'm not saying it's unimpressive, but it's also not unprecedented either.

It needs to be compared to Assassins Creed Shadows in 60fps performance mode on PS5, which drops RTGI and looks quite a bit worse for it. It's the framerate of TW4 that's the impressive part. The best we saw in Shadows ran at 30fps and needed a PS5 Pro to showcase fully.

By the way, Epic put out a trailer for UE5.6 that briefly shows a TW4 scene with hardware accelerated ray tracing, presumably running on PC:

More impressed by GTA6 tbh.
Final judgement will be definitive(so pc/next gen) version of gta6 vs w4, let both devs cook, we can only win here if they deliver the goodies.
We had gta5/rdr2 and w3/cp2077 but all those games, even tho open world are so diverse(in actual meaning of this, not woke diverse when only skin color/sex is looked at).
There is plenty space for gta6, w4 and many other games to be very succesful and for all of them look and play at the very peak :)

This wasn't your average leaker, every single feature they mentioned CDProjekt had added to the engine was name dropped. They are saying the truth, UE5.6 nearly doubled the performance again.

Witcher 4 is not a PS6 game in the same way Cyberpunk 2077 was not a PS5 game.

Yeah, it'll launch on current gen (and probably before next-gen) but the game is clearly going to be built to be running on next-gen hardware.

Is it Extas1s you are talking about? The same guy who said the C button on the Switch 2 would let you use a Switch 1 as a second screen controller for Switch 2 games?

Maybe his contacts are better at CDPR and Epic than they are at Nintendo, but I also don't regret putting anything he had to say into the trash up until now.

No, for the Unreal leak it was not, read the previous pages. In case anyone missed it, for courtesy...

I was reminded of the duel scene in the city in Crimson Desert where the protagonist fights a character while several NPCs stand around watching the fight and trying to dodge being hit.

I hope the NPCs aren't as empty and lifeless as AC Shadows.

Gta6 looks more impressive because you know 99% of what they show is real while this trailer feels fake in many parts.

I bet they are gonna be nowhere near gta6 quality if we have to trust what they patented for the npcs behaviours and rockstar past work.

But better than shadows for sure.

Would be nice if they released a high quality video download of the tech demo (or at least a 4K60 YT upload that been properly prepared), even better would be a PS5 Pro & PC version on top so we can see how they fare (something higher than a soft ~1080p base res would be nice)...

Even, even better would be to to just release the tech demo itself so people can see it running on a PS5 for real. They can set plenty of limitations and provide various disclaimers about jank, performance issues and it being work in progress.

I think a great move by Epic would be to have a "UE Tech Demo Launcher" for consoles and to drop these tech demos into it and upgrade the UE version over time so people can see the improvements and experience new features and variations, we could have the original Lumen In The Land Of Nanite, the other one, The Matrix Awakens, the Megalights demo, some of the marvel 1943 stuff etc.

Announcing at the State Of Unreal: "this demo is now available for you to try yourself on XS, PS5 & PS5 Pro in the UETD Launcher" would be a whole lot better than us trying to peer through the YouTube compression on stream and it'd quell any naysayers much better.

Japan dont give a fuck. Everyone talks about the western gaming industry being consumed by wokesters but Japan gets a free pass while the west actually spent their long dev times making beautiful next gen worlds. It took some time for this gen to get going but we are seeing some beautiful games from western studios every year. Mario Kart World took 12 years and looks like a game from 20 years ago. Night reign somehow looks worse than Elden Ring which itself looked a gen behind Red Dead 2 and Horizon.

Let's hope Capcom shows up tomorrow with a good looking RE9. The RE team is the only one that seems to give a fuck about AAA production values. Kojima was our only other hope but he took the easy way out too.

Yo what the fuck - that Witcher 4 gameplay was on PS5?!? WHAT HAVE WE BEEN DOING??? This just makes me pissed for this entire generation

Intergalactic better get a massive upgrade to its in game graphics

Don't understand why people get into arguments like this about Fromsoft games tbh.
Never once saw someone serious say they are technical masters. I still remember playing Skyrim at launch with a decent framerate and an old desktop, meanwhile I couldn't get more than 5fps in Dark Souls, you know it's bad when even Bethesda look good against them.
They're experts at Art and level design, gameplay mechanics and clever asset reuse which allows them to churn out more games every few years compared to everyone else and still have them feel different from one another and that's what they should be praised for imo.

The characters models are probavly the weakest part of the trailer?

Ciri doesn't look one bit better than aloy (hell probably the opposite), is it the slightly cartoony artstyle maybe?
