Sony games still have that toony ps4 lighting to them. Also a lack of details.

It is clear their engineering division is not up to date with competiton.

I am not sure why they didn't build a new engine from a blank slate ....

Setpieces and gameplay so cinematic it reminds me of sony exclusives. Only actually next gen. Just holy crap. Who needs Japan when China is literally going God mode.



Honestly, I think I might have consumed way too anti-china propaganda. been watching some of their amazing bridges, and architecture, and these guys arent just IP stealing, copy pasta losers the western media makes them out to be. They are doing some incredible things. The animation work in Wukong sold me, and i am seeing the same thing here. The animations are incredible and thats the one thing you cant copy pasta in UE5. These guys are really talented.

Crazy that they are this good on the first try while japanese studios with literally fifty year history are struggling to push visuals like this.

While our fucking western studios are figuring out what pronoun to use for their main character, Chinese studios are putting in the work, and it shows. I'm ready for them to take over, they're incredible talented, no bullshit and they work fast.
 
I agree fully with you and I do some programming on the side to learn Godot but also follow a ton of dev blogs or forums and it's so unusual to have terrain destruction that there's a ton of questions usually on how to even approach this because it throws everything you learned in school for meshing terrain and throws it in the bin.

I'm not even sure it is using a system like deep rock galactic.

Mesh shaders maybe?

Voxels get used heavily behind the scenes for all sort of different techiques.

We aint getting high end fluid dynamic smoke or fire without voxels. Are a shit ton of them if you want it everywhere. Which is gonna devour a huge amount of memory going foward. Example : marvel1943 smoke and fire.
 
Many sony fanboy attack any new game that looks better than sony first party studios bullshits ( they saying it's fake, pre rendered, will have problems not 60fps and other bullshits) they seem can't handle the current situation when they saw many games that looks better than any sony first party output lol, I used to be one of them last gen but this is gen I can't be like those who think death stranding 2 looks amazing while it looks last gen compared to GTA VI, fable, wukong, avatar, witcher 4, Hellblade 2, blood message, AC shadows, other ue5 titles lol even pragmata looks better than it

Wukong 2 is gonna be goddamn insane ant itll probably be ready in like 2-3 years.

Also this. Chinese devs seem really focused on creating games not DEI/woke shit. Their talent speak themselves. Western devs should look themselves and think where did they take the wrong turn.

I always say: Games should be fun. Not your political agenda. Majority of western devs showing decayedness while eastern devs showing new and fresh breath to the gaming.

Pretty much. That's what top tier graphics with photo realistic art (not stylized) look like in 2025. Sony games are stuck with PS4 level graphics in 4k in the meantime...

I feel the same. The Witcher IV is a prime example. It looks visually impressive, yet comes off as painfully generic. Replace Ciri with Senua and you could easily convince people it's a Hellblade DLC.

This obsession with cinematic realism in UE5 is stripping games of any distinct art style.

If those animations are legit, then this studio is the next Naughty Dog. I have no doubt that the games fidelity could look that good on a maxed out PC, but I'm highly skeptical of the smoothness of the gameplay. They dont have a release date or anything. I think best case scenario, this is a heavily edited trailer of what the studio hopes the game will look like

Don't forget with Black Myth Wukong. They showed off an amazing vertical slice of the game in 2020, but the game didn't release until 2024.

Chinese studios are definitely on the rise tho. Wu Chang Fallen Feathers releases next month, and it's got super positive hands-on previews. Phantom Blade Zero is 100% legit, and could be one of the best games releasing next year. I'm still highly skeptical of Chinese, and Asian studios in general, that have zero track record and only a trailer

Honestly, the cutscenes look pretty good in Ghost of Yotei because they can fake the lighting in cutscenes by blasting each scene with dozens of extra light sources. just like DS2. It's the last gen lighitng outside of cutscenes and environment fidelity thats holding back Ghosts and Death Stranding 2.

Compare Liberty City in GTA IV to Los Santos in V... completely different style and atmosphere. I love how unique GTA VI looks in the trailer and have high hopes for it. Of course, if all three were made in UE5, they'd probably end up looking exactly the same. :messenger_winking:

Yeah, i'm more impressed by the animation work more than the graphic tbh.

But then again, wukong had almost all excellent animations and phantom blade zero make look the combat in any souls like a clunky mess in comparison, so i should not be worried.

Hopefully the game is not a chinese uncharted because i find these game pretty annoying nowadays.

witcher 4 has a completely different art style to hellblade 2.

Does it, though? Don't get me wrong, both look amazing, but they seem built from the same movie-like, hyper-realistic assets, making them feel almost identical. Compare that to something like Red Dead Redemption 2 (arguably one of the best if not the best looking game from last gen), and it's no contest in terms of unique art direction.

I just worry that soon all games will end up looking like the digital sets in The Mandalorian. Not the worst thing that could happen, but still, I'd love to see more variety.

They still look like american cities, I mean yeah gta4 is new york and gta5 is los angeles so you have some difference, wukong and blood whatever are both chinese with similar locations.

Also, the different level of fidelity between gta5 and 4 probably help differentiate them, photorealistic graphic is gonna look all samey at a certain point, sand is fucking sand and rocks are fucking rocks and detailed statues are detailed statues.

When games have different location, all of a sudden they all look different, you people are trippin if you think this shit look all the same:
