Yeah and what can the code be used for? Make a GTA clone? Good luck lol
Maybe someone can steal small code snippets or understand their design philosophy or find put how the story goes idk
Mr Robot just sells it ( source code, video files etc) to a competitor company. Said company can reverse engineer the sophisticated a.i, animation system what have you. Implement it in their game. Get the hype machine rolling. Profit.

I've been witnessing "gaming leaks" for years and I swear I can't think of a single case where it had ANY significant impact on what I thought about a game.
Rough first impressions will definitely decrease my hype but all it takes is a well-made trailer when it’s near release for me to be back riding the hype train again, as with Ragnarök *choo choo* 👌

I hope Rockstar start a making of video serie. Let the community see what’s going on behind the scenes. Film the game director, designer, writer etc sitting down having a chat about what they want to achieve with the game and where they are right now. Could even release an alpha demo for a small fee, early access.

I think it’ll show if someone steal things, even if they rewrite all code.

Leaks didn't show anything big except it looks like a GTA game which is a big surprise to nobody. Only the female protag and Miami setting got leaked, nothing too major in my eyes. Idk what's the big damn deal about it anyways, except maybe the code stuff, other than that what is rockstar to worry about?

Of course, it would look the same. But it would be compiled and there wouldn’t be a way to “prove” it.

If a proper developer got hold of it, they would be able to reverse engineer it in a clever way.

Tencent I imagine would have NO problem paying millions for this.

If V code really has been sold then maybe think about deleting the game.

This could force Rockstar to shut down GTA Online.

The leaks included a significant amount of the games source code and now the entire source code for GTA5 has been released. Rockstar should be shutting down GTA online asap

The fear is the source code could allow vulnerabilities to one of the largest played and most installed online games

Gives them too much money. If it has been really sold I guess they will be forced to do some big updates and maybe temporally shut it down but strongly doubt anythung more than that. And even if it has been bought it may never be shared to the public

Look at this over-dramatic shit going on all over twitter:

Of course it will pass. What the fuck do developers even expect to happen after a leak?
"Oh no, since I witness several minutes of footage of an early prototype my interest for the final game that will be out in YEARS died entirely!".

I've been witnessing "gaming leaks" for years and I swear I can't think of a single case where it had ANY significant impact on what I thought about a game.
It either was something I was excited about (and the leak corroborated the idea) or it wasn't... and chances are the leak didn't contribute to improve anything.

Hell, I remember playing the "leaked journalist demo" for Deus Ex Human Revolution which I was already anticipating and if anything it was the thing that cemented my interest in buying the game at day one.

Neil Druckmann is permanently so high on his own farts.

I can't even put a value of the source code of a game like GTA VI, even 70 to 100 millions wouldn't even be that crazy.
if V is anything to go buy then this is a multi billion dollar product. GTA V made Rockstar a billion in just 3 days and the game is now 9 years old.

Of course GTA VI is an unfinished product and nobody can sell the game on so that affects the value. We don't know how much of the game the leaker has. If it's a significant amount then it has to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars. To Rockstar and Take Two it is worth billions.

that's what i said. they'd need to shut it down to make sure it's safe for people to play. look at the dark souls situation. they had to turn off servers until it was fixed. gta online could be down for months.

need to wait and see what happens but could be extremely bad for rockstar
