GTA: San Andreas confirmed for Xbox 360

Isn't the definitive, hands-down way to play on OG Xbox? Because driving in your car + your own music? (Plus all the cool tracks they cut)

Sadly it's nigh on unplayable for me. The colours and such look nice, but the constant stuttering is horrendous!!

The pop up is horrible too. I remember the original being bad, but this version seems even worse.

I hope it does indeed get patched soon.

Yep, popup is pretty horrendous but almost exactly like GTA:SA 10 years ago for PS2.

Flying around and a nice antenna comes out of nowhere.

Uploaded some screenshots. I think the screenshots are blurrier from my Elgato. If you're used ot GTA:SA it does look a good deal better than the Xbox Original version. Not as crisp or as good a draw distance as the PC version, but still looks pretty good in general for GTA:SA.

Performance wise, the game does not perform well or at least how you would expect. It runs passably most of the time, but then you still have the classic slowdown parts... And they don't slow it down like in the old days, but that Vagos neighbhorhood near the train tracks / Cluckin' Bell, the Watts towers, etc., those still make the game run slowly. Also, I was frantically trying to move CJ at one point while outrunning the cops and get into my safe house, and I couldn't control him for the life of me. Ended up getting gunned down by cops. Alas, some things never change.

Also, you cannot use free camera while flying, which is annoying. So if you move the right stick you can't look around, it's locked on you, and the LB/RB are the rudders so I don't think you can look left and right at all.

I know the packages containing San Andreas were removed from Steam, but it looks like most retailers have also pulled San Andreas and any package containing it. Considering some retailers were selling packs containing GTA 1 and 2 for quite a while after they got pulled from Steam I'm interested to see what's going on with the Steam release.

I noticed this too. The PC version of San Andreas has been removed from every online retailer that sells the digital download version of the game. It makes me wonder what is going on with this one.

No wonder it wasn't officialy announced or even mentioned on Rockstar's Newswire. This port is absolutely terrible. Missing audio in the very first cutscene, stuttering, random bugs (I saw two people with animations switching between normal behaviour and panic) or features missing from PS2 or Xbox versions, like complete lack of grass or no vibrations. When I want to save manually, I have to remember in which slot I did it, because saves don't have time stamp. Was this game even tested before releasing?

Still, it would be playable for someone like me, who is a huge GTA fan. But it's not, because I'm not even enjoying getting achievements or doing all the stuff for 100% and there is one reason for it. FUCKING RADIO SKIPS. How is it even possible, that in 2-3 minutes on a single radio station I hear 5-6 parts of different songs? I switch to talk radio show and it's the same story, part of one show, then sudden skip to ads/different show or it even can loop itself so I listen to the same shit as moments before. Fucking ridiculous.

What a mess.

presumably this as this is based on the mobile port

From what I can tell, this is the mobile port of the game running on an Android emulator. Modders have already found the .obb files within the gamefiles, which pretty much confirms that this is just the Android version of the game with a few tweaks made to the .ini files. There is very little native about this port (probably besides the OpenGL calls) which is also why performance is running at a sub 30FPS at 720p.

I don't know if it's just my 360 controller but riding a bike doesn't seem to work the same. I think they took out the tap for aggressive peddling.

Also the new pool controls suck.

I just finished playing this port for the second time. It's been a pain in the ass, to say the least.

I loved San Andreas and played it religiously when it first came out, and probably for the next year. However, going back to it shows some age. I don't mind the graphics or some of the other dated aspects, but:

1) The gunplay is very difficult to use nowadays. I dread gunfights.

2) The dance minigame is a bitch, and the button track disappeared on me twice due to glitches.

3) Pop-in

4) No way to create a pathway via map marker, but that's not a big deal

5) Audio cutting in and out

It's a shitty port of a really good game.

A mobile port, seriously?

This is on another level of laziness imo, but then again the price redeems itself.

I think it's a cash grab even at this price, to be honest. An Android app emulation on the Xbox 360? Gross.

Every re-release of San Andreas makes me so glad that I own the original PS2 and PC versions of the game. It's sad. The game is a stone cold classic, and I wish everyone could enjoy the full experience instead of having to make do with these re-releases that seem to increasingly neuter the game.

Holy shit this port is terrible.

My game has saved on Life's a Beach 3 times now.

Framerate is awful, bullet hits never register.

Well the gunplay is worser. The PS2 Gunplay was far from being good but taking out the "Lock - On" System completely is friggin annoying.

Is that possible?
If yes nevermind.

Thought it was gone and i have to do the shooting parts with this hilarious unprecise gunplay.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
On one hand i like the 720p, on the other i can't help but feel it looks worse in terms of texture quality/draw distance compared to the Xbox 1 version on 360 via backwards compatibility.

Haven't gone back and seen what the PS2 version looks like on PS3, but played through the XB version in its entirety on 360. Was a great experience.

I fired up my 360 for the first time in weeks the other day and wondered why this was up-front on the games page. But when I clicked it, it said it's the games on demand version. So it isn't the games on demand version? I'm confused.

Nostalgia stack!

It was the first time it came out because the game takes place in a time and place I grew up in (*sigh* the riots). Now here it is as new nostalgia because of the great fun I had with the game the first time.
Gotta admit, it certainly looks rougher than as I remember it, but after popping in my old PS2 copy for comparison it's clear my memory has a nostalgia filter.
Anyways, after a playing for a little bit though I like the new port a lot. Kind of cool to see San Andreas through CJ's eyes: A place I haven't been to in a long time, but still familiar.

It's a bit rough but it seems to work fine aside from the cutscene audio cutting out sometimes. They screwed up the bike controls though.
