GTA Series Has Sold Nearly 455 million Units, GTA V Counts For Nearly Half

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

The Grand Theft Auto series just hit a major milestone, as parent company Take-Two Interactive confirmed that it has sold almost 455 million units across the franchise. What makes this figure even more impressive is that GTA 5 alone counts for almost half of those sales, with 215 million units sold to date.

While GTA V isn't the best-selling game of all time in pure unit sales--it's actually third, behind Minecraft and Tetris--it's still a record that likely won't be broken for quite some time. Since it launched all the way back in 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360, the game has regularly sold well, and it has been updated since then for newer console generations.

This makes me sad because it really removes much of the incentive for them to actually improve the shit gameplay

Until they fix the horrific gameplay, this series doesn't interest me

So I guess 500 million within the first year of GTA 6 is guaranteed. Could they.... could they hit a billion before GTA 7?!

GTA 5 is also over 10 years old, with multiple updated releases that have been sold at full price on multiple platforms over multiple generations.

I have and will always look at GTA5 and GTAO as two separate games.
So of the 215 million sold "GTA5" how many have NEVER played GTA5 and only GTAO?

Then ofc how did 2022 change that when you could start to get GTAO separate from GTA5?

This is the one franchise that even those that don't play video games, will buy if they have a system that can run it. The ultimate Normie game. Nothing comes close, and i don't see anything surpassing it in the future.
