GTA V has gone gold.

Welp, after 7 years my launch 360 red ringed for the third time. But I had resolved to get a Slim before GTA V dropped, fearing all the stuttering, freezing and train station noise would be it's end.

Sure, enough- it died. I got a Slim today, and I miss my GTA IV faceplate. Holy goodness, why is this thing so silent?! All these years, this is what I've been missing?

Here's hoping this one lasts many years of GTA V to come! The man at the counter looked so perplexed and asked "why are you buying this system right before the Xbox One and PS4 come out?"

GTA V my friend, GTA V.
The slims are really nice. I got one on Black Friday last year on a good deal. Runs so much cooler and quieter than my launch 360.

I've been lucky, though. My launch system never red ringed, switched to the slim by choice.

I've been replaying The Ballad of Gay Tony, and man it's great, but I had truly forgotten just how miserable the controls are. Running and shooting and taking cover are always such a chore. Sometimes I can't even aim and shoot while in cover, so I have to awkwardly stand up and get blasted while I try to pick off the targets. Flying helicopters is cool, but always imprecise. Hand to hand combat is a botched abortion, but thankfully never necessary.

Even if they re-released IV with all of the gameplay niggles tweaked and fixed, I'd be very excited. The fact that literally EVERYTHING about V looks leaps and bounds above its predecessor (which again, I really loved), is mind-boggling.

And then less than a month later we get Pokemon! And a few weeks after that, Batman! And then Watch Dogs! AND THEN NEXT GEN!

Good grief 2013 is a good year to be alive.

who are these people?

What do you mean by "these people"?

who are these people?

GTAForums. One guy claiming that his store will get them this Tuesday and he'll sell a few earlier "for the right price". I don't really buy it, especially considering how disappointed Rockstar seemed to be that the soundtrack info leaked out through the PSN pre-load. If they send out final copies this early then they'll have to have people working around the clock to keep footage off Youtube.

I'm replaying RDR and it's impressive to see the improvement to the RAGE and Euphoria engine, and this was just 2 years after GTA IV. I also can't wait to experience the ambient sound track.

Don't jinx it.
I've recently come to the conclusion that if every facet of my existence was objectively awful and miserable, I'd still want to stay alive for all of the badass entertainment we get on a yearly basis.

As far as top tier stuff goes, just this year alone we have The Last of Us, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, GTA V, Pokemon, Arkham Origins, A Link Between Worlds, Watch Dogs, Next-Gen. On the television side there have been new seasons of Mad Men and Breaking Bad. Parks & Rec is still upcoming. There was Pacific Rim and soon there will be The Hobbit. On the music side I could make a list triple the size of everything I've just mentioned. And this list is far from exhaustive.

I'm just like most GAFfers here in that I'm very critical of the stuff I consume, and while everything I mentioned invariably has room for improvement, dissecting that stuff is satisfying in and of itself. Even though I have very low hopes, for example, for the Batman/Superman movie (looks at avatar, sheds single tear), I'm still excited to watch the hype and reactions and the expansion of the Batman mythos.

I guess what I'm trying to say is DAMN, LET'S ROB SOME BANKS AND CAUSE SOME VIRTUAL MISCHIEF. For all the great stuff 2013 has brought, my hype for GTA V and the Breaking Bad ending have surpassed everything else.

Also, GTA Online should be a blast with the GAF crew. I always seemed to get stuck with assholes whenever I ventured into GTA IV's online mode, but I'm not too worried about that here. It would be cool if GTAO had community servers, like in Mario Kart 7 (and probably many other games).

My excitement for the game is slowing down since the gameplay trailer.

But in the other hand I still can't wait to play.

Can someone link me to a real gta v gameplay video. Not talking official trailers. I want to see the game in actions as if I am playing it. I dunno if Rockstar has released such gameplay, if they have PM me.

You won't see that until the game leaks or until it is out.

GTA V my friend, GTA V.

I'm on my third 360 now, one red ringed and one had a disc reading error.
I got the slim because I thought this year had a ton of awesome games coming out, and I've really enjoyed most games this year and GTAV isn't out, worth the purchase I think.

People (gtaforums) were talking some days ago about the "happening" for this weekend, maybe tomorrow.

I am having some several moral doubts. I want to see but... It's just two weeks.

On the one hand I want to actually watch somebody play the damn thing... But on the other I want to be the one that is playing it when I first see it...
