Guardian: 'The FBI is Trumpland': anti-Clinton atmosphere spurred leaks, sources say

This explains why Republicans can get away with so much shit, constantly breaking laws and nothing happens to them.

The FBI is Republican land

^^^ There has been a year+ long investigation into the Clinton Foundation, based on unnamed sources. Fox News was reporting this yesterday. It's reported that DoJ has been blocking them from moving forward. There were also apparently a lot of agents that felt they had an open and shut case on the emails as well, but Comey or AG Lynch wouldn't move forward. It sounds like there was nearly a mutiny.

Acknowledged and I won't dispute that. If the DoJ/FBI battle is on, and the FBI is so sure that an indictment is justified, I can see *why* they'd leak though, for better or worse. They'd feel that public opinion is the only way they can get DoJ to move forward.
If that were actually the case, why wouldn't they leak the real incriminating evidence instead of a bunch of bullshit that's only tangetially related to Clinton and an old FOIA request on Twitter? There's nothing indictment worthy that has become public thanks to the FBI's latest moves, just FUD.

Screw purge. Disband it. Move all the assets/intel and cases to CIA/NSA. FBI is filled with partisan idiots.

The FBI is far more useful and competent than the CIA.

Or it could be because they've had a year-long investigation and are convinced of wrongdoing. Just a guess, but people such as FBI Agents take certain offenses very seriously and would probably not support someone that treats privileged information in a way they perceive to be flippant or reckless.

edit: not saying it can't be Trump's stated support for police, etc., and the increased amount of work for them, but I'd guess if many agents investigating are convinced of wrongdoing that would color their opinions pretty heavily.

Something's out there...something's going on...Believe me.

I'd be very surprised if the CiA and NSA weren't filled with partisans too. You should remember that it was the CIA that went along rather enthusiastically with enhanced interrogation. These are agencies where extreme authoritarianism / ends justify the means philosophy is basically a requirement to be able to deal with doing some of the things they have to do.

This election is going to cause serious and lasting damage to the US. Comey and the FBI are showing that government just can't be trusted to govern impartially. I shouldn't be surprised due to the level of support Trump has among law enforcement, but here I am appalled all the same.

I can't even really articulate how I feel anymore. How does a voter move forward with this? Do I just have to embrace the partisan mess that is US democracy? I hate that I feel that's my only option.

The wacko conspiracy theory nut in me can't help but wonder:

Why do so many law-and-order types hate Clinton? What do they know that we don't? What did she get away with? And what is she getting away with even now?

what was that new phrase Trump likes? #DrainTheSwamp?

How about we do that to the FBI, because this is unacceptable corruption. Fire anyone that pushed for an investigation into the Clinton Foundation based on shitty sources.

Then as a test for new FBI people, assign them to deal with the deplorables that are breaking federal laws or doing violent acts.

Except the CIA and NSA are too invested in the status quo of US foreign policy that Trump wants to run a bulldozer through.

No rational person should ever be able to think Hillary Rodham Clinton is the antichrist and the reasoning they probably due is pro-life and/or gun control bullshit.

Like what the hell is going on anymore?

Everything left is bad. Everything democrat is bad. It must be destroyed at all costs. This is how the Republicans and the right have chosen to function.

They have hammered away at Hillary through the years. But now they have made her out to be both the worst and most powerful person in the world. She has her hands in everything. She is involved in every conspiracy.

Get ready for way more crazy shit after she wins. They are going to obstruct and attack at every moment. And many Americans will eat that shit up while those Republicans they voted for do jack shit to help them or the country out.

actually there were no sources, just hearsay. lol

Looks like the FBI is overdue for some deep cleaning. This partisan hackery and "controlled leaks" solely designed to influence elections is exactly the kind of thing that the FBI should absolutely not become.

I would hope that Obama would address this but sadly I think he fears he's walking on a tightrope and will remain mum on it. It's really disheartening seeing the FBI try to throw their weight around this hard.

"Sources"

So a left leaning paper says "sources" claim the FBI is full of Trump supporters because they dared to carry on doing their job?

If the FBI held back the report / announcement until after the election then that would be a political move also ....... but as it would be in Hilarys favour, the Guardian wouldnt have any "sources" for that one.

At least it's not a leaky boat full of shit every where. FBI is far gone. Its wild west, and Comey is quietly sitting with thumb up his ass. What the fuck.

Nah, neither of those organizations are up to handling the job that the FBI does. Especially the CIA, who are sometimes pants-on-heads stupid; they don't even have the jurisdiction to operate on American soil.

The CIA is a lot more wild west than the FBI, and a number of different Presidents have been unsuccessful at reigning them in. That'd be the first agency to outright eliminate.

Those sources are FBI agents.

Yeah...my fear is that this campaign has been nothing more than a build up. Makes me worried for 2018/2020 election cycles.

You seem to not get that ONE of those two options involves doing nothing while the other involves actively doing something that would affect the election.

Also, we know it's a partisan issue because they feel so compelled to sweep the Russia stuff under the rug.

Yep ...... "sources".

When Trump cried conspiracy, people laughed and mocked the idea.

Now ..... there is a conspiracy!

Both sides in this election are pathetic, as is American "politics".

The post you were quoting was talking about the Clinton Foundation investigation. Congrats on revealing your own biases.

If we see Trump as a fascist - then in these states, the police get extraordinary powers. I'm thinking of the SS, or the Stasi.

Sounds like a house-cleaning may be in order if Clinton wins

Well that's terrifying.

With Obama, it was constant obstructionist tactics. It seems like if Hillary wins, it'll be continuous efforts to impeach her.

Except the CIA and NSA are too invested in the status quo of US foreign policy that Trump wants to run a bulldozer through.

Yeah, so their partisan-ness isn't a drawback to Clinton this election. Doesn't mean they are even remotely impartial in an objective sense. I do feel kind of bad for them in some ways, everything about these agencies is more or less manufactured to lead to partisanship and then people get annoyed at them for it. And no one is willing to do anything to change that because the potential political ramifications are too great. They need to epically screw up on a massive scale to get more than a bit of finger rapping and rearranging of the furniture done.

The fuck. How can people in that sort of job support Trump?

Lot of my dad's old coworkers still in the State Department are pro-Trump. Granted she was Secretary of State. But most of the people we know in the Department don't hold Benghazi on her, it felt very much like the bombing in Kenya. Shit happens and you keep going.

But albeit this is anecdotal most of my dad's former coworkers are constantly arguing with my dad any time he brings up the crap Trump does or says. My dad doesn't know how to not engage with them :p

The really left leaning WSJ reported the same thing.

people so ready to believe this to validate their opinion. It's as bad as those who denounce "experts" when it doesn't support their world view.

and I'm not just talking about Clinton supporters. It was the same when Trump was doing it.

"Anytime you see a story about me or my campaign saying "sources said," DO NOT believe it. There are no sources, they are just made up lies!"

Sounds like a lot of people in the military. Tons of people think Clinton "got away" with leaking national secrets and if it was anyone else they'd be in prison no questions asked.

Someone at work shared a picture of Clinton that read "If Hillary is president does that mean Air Force One will be renamed Con Air?" He thought it was funny, but as I told him it wouldn't make any sense since Clinton hasn't been convicted of a crime. His response was an adamant "she broke the law, she should be convicted". That's fine and all dude, but "should" and "are" are two totally different things.

The really left leaning WSJ reported the same thing.

"Did you witness it?"

"No, but we are reporting it"

There's no conclusive evidence here, just sources that don't even agree on whether or not the FBI is 'Trumplandia'. No conclusions can be drawn from this really.

And while the Guardian is left wing, it ain't known for making shit up. It's not a tabloid paper. They weren't exactly quite about criticizing Jeremy Corbyn either.

I know that. The other poster was essentially using left wing to tar the validity of the report.

I said there are multiple sources saying the same thing.

The FBI didn't even have a warrant to look at the emails when Comey penned his letter. Which basically was "we think we may possibly have something that may or may not be relevant."

The correct play would've been to wait until they investigated the contents and then notified Congress. Comey acted in a partisan way based on innuendo.
