Guardian: 'The FBI is Trumpland': anti-Clinton atmosphere spurred leaks, sources say

The really left leaning WSJ reported the same thing.

"Did you witness it?"

"No, but we are reporting it"

There's no conclusive evidence here, just sources that don't even agree on whether or not the FBI is 'Trumplandia'. No conclusions can be drawn from this really.

I've no doubt there are plenty of Trump supporters in the FBI, but I'm yet to be convinced the entire org is trying to fuck Clinton over.

I was just talking about "sources" ...... non attributable but taking as gospel depending on what side wants to believe it.

I have no biases, I dont care ..... all politicians are suspect.

Well, many Americans do actually care. We live here and don't want to deal with Trump and his supporters.

And you obviously don't understand what has been going on. Both sides are far from the same.

Maybe this stems from the experience of being under the Obama DOJ for the past 8 years.

A whole agency doesn't turn on their leaders for no reason.

This is something that has been corroborated by multiple sources from the FBI.

So you either have to be accusing the WSJ and Guardian of lying, or you don't understand how sources work.

There's nothing more aggravating than an uninformed non-American coming in these threads with the "both sides" bullshit.

Considering how many seem to always say "I'm not American" and "Both sides are bad" there is an 80% chance that he is just some alt-right trash hiding the fact that he likes Trump or just some Russian Troll.

If it makes you feel better that's not the majority view in many countries. Even most Australian conservatives prefer Clinton over Trump. And that's not peculiar to this election, the Republicans are generally regarded as nuts. The only way this is a (tragi-)comedy is that somehow Clinton isn't winning by like 40%.

Oh, I'm sure. In no way should we not be skeptical, and many other sources have reported that there is an internal civil war going on in the FBI and DoJ. But there is also no reason to discount multiple independent outlets from reporting that "something" is not right there.

Most of the western world prefers Clinton to Trump. Public opinion generally favours Democrats because they aren't seen as "nuts".

I honestly thought Comey was trying to straddle the line but now I'm not so sure. Now it sounds more like a diet version of the J. Edgar Hoover days.

Note to self: "sources" is code for "pulled this out of my ass". Journalists and publications who use "sources" are not to be trusted under any circumstance.

Gotcha.

And still you post.

Alt-Rights on neogaf are always compelled to discredit anything that makes conservatives look really bad, but they know that they can't admit to being Alt-Right so they just emphasize how they hate "both sides" and how supposedly they aren't American.

Agents are literally using shit like Clinton Cash as motivation to open investigations and are throwing fits when the DoJ or anyone within the FBI prevent them from running amok.

The consequences of Limbaugh, Hannity, D'Souza et al are only going to continue to grow in severity. We thought we knew how bad the situation was with Republican propagandists and their effort to de-legitimize the media... we're just scratching the surface.

Yeah, I have no problem believing internal politics are at play, and I'm sure there will be a split in terms of presidential candidate support. I was just surprised how many posters made comments that suggest they swallowed the whole article without question.

So your standard of newsworthiness is predicated upon the news organization physically being present during the events themselves?

I'm curious to know what omnipresent news organization you prefer.

Nope. I just don't believe every word that's written in The Guardian, or any news outlet without a critical eye.

Is your standard "unnamed sources said..."?

But you see the mess these leakers have made. They have made it open season for anybody with varying agendas to leak stuff. This does nothing but hurt the standing of the FBI.

They should just figure out who is proTrump by assigning a suspected Trumpster to case on someone the Trumpsters love, then assign someone they know is fine to the same case and see how much shit the suspected Trumpster fails to find that the clean guy easily finds.

FBI agents. And you have at least 2 credible outlets reporting this.

How many more outlets till it passes the test? Or do you need those FBI agents to out themselves?

Yeah, I totally agree on that. It's pretty clear the FBI is being exploited by opportunists. They really need to address that as their credibility appears to be badly compromised.

That's ironic, isn't the FBI something a lot of Trump's people want to kinda smack down and shrink.

A lot of his supporters? Probably

But Trump has been very pro-police, pro-police being authoritarian in nature [stop and frisk, ban all muslims etc.] so I wouldn't be surprised if some FBI agents see Trump as someone who will let them operate with less oversight etc.

Trumpland as a concept is terrifying, to me.

This is just all very disturbing to read about, but I suppose it's no surprise.

"Sources"

So a left leaning paper says "sources" claim the FBI is full of Trump supporters because they dared to carry on doing their job?

If the FBI held back the report / announcement until after the election then that would be a political move also ....... but as it would be in Hilarys favour, the Guardian wouldnt have any "sources" for that one.

It would have been the move that is backed by precedent and protocol. Comey's action's have has real, negative consequences: The girl at the center of the FBI Weiner investigation writes an open letter to Comey.

There are reasons that you aren't supposed to comment on ongoing investigations in incredibly vague ways.

The biggest evidence of Comey's failure is how incredibly leaky the FBI has become. Under Comey the FBI seems to have become even more factious and undisciplined than the FBI's already poor reputation would suggest.

He has failed his Bureau, the citizens he is supposed to protect, and his country.

Every time I think we have enough content for a movie, we get even more.

You can make one on this event alone.

This is some crazy shit.

You'd think that a guy who is clearly the "clueless, but bossy" kind of boss would be DISLIKED among the people who would have to deal with his clueless bullshit if he was elected President.

But they like him? What!?

Yep ...... "sources".

When Trump cried conspiracy, people laughed and mocked the idea.

Now ..... there is a conspiracy!

Both sides in this election are pathetic, as is American "politics".

Big difference between reputable outlets that publish results of professional reporting and Donald fucking Trump telling tales from his ass.
