Guild 02 (3DS) Game Details

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

Monsters Come Out on Friday from My Summer Vacation maker Kazu Ayashi

Release Date: March 13

Sota, the protagonist in Monsters Come Out on Friday lives in a rural town where, like the title says, monsters suddenly come out on Friday. Why do monsters appear in this small town’s shopping centre? That’s the mystery players will find out in what Level-5 calls a "heartwarming drama."

I like the look of all of these. They're clearly low-budget affairs, but they all seem interesting and experimental (well, "Insect Tank" aside, which seems pretty straightforward) and if they're priced appropriately (they are all DD titles this time, right?) then they'd be worth a look.

EDIT:

Yeah, all DD. Price seems OK - 800 yen, which should (assuming they make it over the pond) translate to around £7 - provided the content is there, and based on what I've played so far of "Liberation Maiden", "Aero Porter" and "Crimson Shroud" it should be.

Actually, anyone have any idea why we never ended up getting Rental Bukiya de Omasse (the odd little rhythm RPG)? Too niche to bother with translating? Creator not high-profile enough?

None of the Guild 01 games really appealed to me all that much, but I'm interested in all three of these.

What was the difference between Japanese and Western Guild 01 releases?

Rental bukiya de omasse was never released in the West, and Crimson Shroud was rebalanced from the retail release.

The first one looks interesting. Seeing the giant monsters fighting was cool in the last Nintendo Direct.

Hope they get localised as well; whatever happened to the last Guild 01 game, the Blacksmith one?

From Level-5 USA:

"We’re still wholeheartedly considering how to or whether or not we can make that title work at the moment. The game is actually extremely text-heavy, and it functions on the expressive power of its text and language. Hirai-san, the creator, is a famous comedian in Japan, and the game is deeply rooted in his talent for expressing Japanese culture through language. We need to consider the high pedigree of translation required, and the time and money needed to do that with this amount of text may surprise you. Another factor we need to consider is whether or not a large enough audience outside of Japan would appreciate a game that relies so heavily on knowledge of Japanese culture."

Cheers for that. Sounds unlikely it will make it over, especially as Hirai isn't exactly a "name" designer over here on the level of Matsuno, Suda or even Saito.

My Summer Vacation guy's game looks coolio. The others? Eh.

I wonder what happens to My Summer Vacation if the creator is now working at Level-5.

He's not, his company is called Millennium Kitchen.

Hm, only interested in Spaceship Damrey at this point. To be fair, though, I wasn't interested in anything from Guild 01 other than Liberation Maiden.

That is great!
I know this will fall appart as soon as first reviews come in. But even so, its very its a nue change of pace from the usual "we already know everything from the game six months before release"

I didn't even know this thread existed! I spent the last of my game money on Luigi but I get paid in 3 weeks so hope to buy all 3 and post some feedback:)

Funny that Inafune's game looks the least appealing.

I'm wondering what gameplay is like for Damrey (most interesting one for me). I'm getting amnesia vibes... on a spaceship!

Did this not get a retail compilation release?

Nope, eShop-only this time around.

They initially said there'd be a fourth game that was supposed to be the big showpiece of the collection, but that's not happening anymore, either. Never found out what it was or who was developing.

All I want is the chance to play Monsters in English. I will break my rule about never spending more than $5 on eShop, do you hear me Level 5, just gimme what I want!

The intro of Keiji Inafune's Guild02 game is pretty crazy.

Panzer vor!

OMG! That Austrian accent!

Damrey also looks very cool. I like the disclaimer at the beginning of the trailer:

"This game doesn't feature any tutorials or explanation of controls. It has been created under the principle that figuring things out on your own is fun."

They should stick up a kickstarter to raise funds for the translation. 1 tier, digital copy of game, early buyer discount, I'd bite.

The Japanese response to Damrey has been mixed, from what I gather. Monster has been well-received but it's supposed to be very short. Haven't really checked up on Bugs vs Tanks but it seems to be the most popular of the three, which surprises me.

Played about an hour of Monsters Come Out on Friday. Fantastic soundtrack, fun but slow gameplay, feels like Layton without the puzzles if that makes sense. Some card battles (?) I don't quite understand, will pick up again after I finish some work...

Hmm...actually, that sounds pretty cool to me. My wife loves Layton, but I ain't a big fan of the puzzles. I know that sounds silly, as that's the meat of those games. But I love the aesthetics. Would love an adventure game with a similar mood.

Are you playing on a JP 3DS? So, it's actually released on the JP eShop?
