Guild Wars 2 Launch Date announced: August 28th, 2012

Do all those 16GB DAT files mean that I can delete my 40 GB GW2.exe? edit: Now I copied it to another directory and it's 20MB o.o I'm getting old.

Also,

lolnoobs.

40gb gw2 exe? wat?

OT is coming along well, art is close to being finished, couple more sections to write. Sad thing is that I can't fit even half of the details I want into it, but I'll just link to the gafguild mass info thread in the Misc section.

Please include a couple of references to the mad king.

There's an official video on youtube showing off the GW2 lounge from Gamescom, and behind Martin the video with the infamous eye and the underwater shot is playing. During the last few frames, you can see what follows:

Has this been found already?

I don't know if it's really a tinfoil-hat-worthy secret to look out for these things, but it's fun nonetheless :)

I wonder if there's a way to force download all the gw2 stuff like you could in the first one rather then have to dl assets as you go.

That would certainly be nice, I imagine it would improve performance. Maybe it's something they'll enable later so they don't have millions of people doing it at once :X.

On HoM:
First I was ok with only 11 pts for the shield,
Then I wanted to get to 20,
Now I'm obsessed with getting 23 for the Greatsword.

This is so damn addicting.

So uhhh, anyone want to buy a EL Kieran Thackeray Tonic off me for 55k? :\

I have the worst timing ever. One week before release, my gaming PC starts acting up. I think the video card is dying. :/ I've been getting #116 BSODs (which means the video drivers stopped responding and weren't restarted), and then a few times graphical artifacts have been showing up on my desktop after playing games. Even non-demanding stuff like Morrowind.

Any advice...? I'm going to take it in to a shop tomorrow.

Hopefully, the card is still under warranty. If not, sounds like you need to replace it.

I'm not sure why you'd take it to a shop, though. Video card replacement is one of the easiest hardware procedures ever, not jokes.

That's true. I guess I was wondering whether I was misdiagnosing and it might be something else. It would kind of suck to buy a new video card and find out it's working no better than the old one.

I have run diagnostics on the RAM, video RAM, etc. but didn't actually find any problems. Oddly enough even the video card was running fine under a period of stress testing...

Your description really sounds like a video card problem. I guess it could possibly be an overheating CPU but that's easy to check with those CPU temperature applications. Not to mention that your computer is probably already set to sound an alarm if the CPU goes over a certain threshold.

Yeah; even under stress testing, the CPU wasn't getting into dangerous temperatures. I'd imagine the BSODs would be linked to something other than video drivers if it was the CPU.

Hm. I guess that's possible. I did run a VRAM tester and it completed 6 passes with no errors though.

Is there a test that can figure out if that's happening?
Yes, if you have another (known working, also PCIE) video card laying around, swap that in and run more burn-ins.

Unfortunately no, this is the only PCIE card I have around. :/ Thanks though.

I still find it really weird it was able to handle Furmark for ~30 minutes without any problems, but then it comes up multiple times in something undemanding like Morrowind. Did I just not test long enough, maybe?
