Persona is a game series that caters to people who have no sense of actual human interactions, so they substitute a video game for the real thing.

/s

JK I just have no interest of the series. Much like grand theft auto, I see who it's for, but it's not for me.

I don't want to derail the thread, but my final word on it is that I too would have been uninterested (I don't really love JRPG's all that much) but people pushed me into it and now I love it.

Anywho, why the fuck can't we get spears, Anet? Goddamnit.

Ele has attunements, they don't need weapon swap.
I know that, changing attunement kinda feels like changing weapon to me, so that's what I meant. With a full conjuring it would be kinda like having 4 (attunements) + 4 Conjured weapons, which I thought would be interesting at least.

The biggest problem with conjures is that using them lowers your flexibility from attunements, which the elementalist lives and dies by. They are great for short bursts, but relying on them instead of your base weapon skills tends to get you dead in higher level play. If you stick to lower-end stuff, you're probably fine.
That's what I feared it would be. I'll stick to maybe a couple of conjure for now and maybe change it once I get to high levels.

Maybe the polearm problem is also that its a lot of art to create for all the weapon sets.

You have 10-15 black lion specialist themed skins
Legendary polearm
and then polearm in all the styles of the world asura/krytan/norn/ebonhawk/pirate and so on.

But Polearms where one of the biggest go-to weapons during the middle ages. It's a fantastic weapon for killing people! It has reach, it can be thrown, it is not expensive. swords were only for wealthy and took a lot of skill to use.

if every class in GW2 had access to polearms, that would be cool.

Warriors could use it as a AOE type ranged weapon

Guardians as a long ranged throwing paragon weapon to give them more range than what scepter and staff allows.

Rangers could use it as a slow tanky CC Buff weapon. Since GS/Sword is about mobility, give the ranger something really hard and slow. Something that reduces the jump-around-everywhere-playstyle

Elementalist - melee spear monk. fast blitz bleeding, knock over, martial arts type moves. has more range than most melee weapons

Necro - since staff is DoTs, Polearm could be the opposite - like direct damage target the ground to make corpses come up, explode corpses, spawn demons at target location, get coffins with grenth-like servants to appear.

Thief - Ninja skills. put dynamite or some explosion type thing on a throwing spear, put spear in the ground and somersault around the spear kicking everything while stationary, sweep, use the polearm as a escape jump backwards at the olympics move

mesmer - a weapon that is not focused on spawning phantasms/illussions/clones, but just direct damage. a nice pace breaker.

revenant - I have no idea.

Engineer - just remove the class from the game. nobody is gonna miss it:p

Off topic, but anyone have a good recommendation for a cheapish computer headset? I'm looking for using it on mumble, teamspeak, and the like.

Doesn't need to be ultra fancy. Also not interested in paying a lot more just to see the words turtle or beach on it.

I was actually going to suggest the Turtle Beach X12s. $50, pretty good quality. I'm on my second pair now (only reason I replaced them is because the cat had nibbled the cord a bit and they were kind of dirty after two years of daily use).

I'm not an audiophile or anything, but I like 'em.

I'd like to know some tricks as well :) Someone was making 60g a day for several days in a row recently by playing the tp and sw last week :/

I'm at level 29 with my Guardian and I've only seen 10% of the map - they really weren't kidding re the size of the world.

Noob questions:

Question re crafting - what's the fastest way to level up crafting? I was really sad to see that I have to go through 75 levels of Novice crafting before I can start making stuff that's moderately useful for the level I'm at.

Question re travel speed - can you craft or earn equipment that will make you faster? Or are speed buffs only temporary/class-limited/purchasable with real-world money?

www.gw2crafts.net have real time updated guides on how to level all professions but you need quite a bit of gold to buy all the materials. It's super fast if you do though. And you'll gain some levels that way as well. And as for speed buffs, there are both passive skills and stuff that give you swiftness but few are permanent afaik.

Crafting guide sites are around that can help efficiently level your profession, the thing is that you generally have to buy material if you want to level quickly.

Travel speed is limited to buffs, utility skills, and a couple rune sets (high level ones). If you want to get around quicker, you'll have to make use of waypoints, that's what they are there for.

infiltrator's arrow too if you're playing the best class

also bear in mind that any crafting you do is also leveling up your character

I don't understand how that's possible. Do you just farm an absurd amount of gold and buy everything you need? Teach me your ways, Nemesis Sensei

I don't know where to start, this legendary was different, started making Incinerator with 3g to my name, I blew most of my gold in the Forge getting Spark, sold every thing i didn't need for Incinerator, sold a ton of charge cores, sold a few stacks of Ancient Log the refine version, ran dungeons and world boss train, SW chest farm, even cooked I was selling Lemongrass Soup, about 7g every hour farming Lemon grass in Straits, I did a lot of things to make gold, sold a ton of Bolt of Damask..

Usually when i make a Legendary I wait until i have about 600g, then every gold i make after 600 is burned away in the Forge until i get the pre, sometimes you got lucky, and other times it would have been better to just buy the pre, like Dawn cost me a ton, but for Spark wasted 100g in the Forge, Juggernaut put about 250g into the forge to get Colossus, with The Moot since it the pre was cheap just bought it for 344g, it's all about Luck and your willingness to have a few copper if needed, At once point I was down to 72 copper..

You actually got some pre out of the forge? Damn. At the end of when I was playing this actively I started building towards getting Bolt and have a number of the things required but what crushed me was the 100 Charged Lodestones. You said you got Zap, did you make Bolt then? If so, how did you get the Charged Lodestones??? That seemed like the one thing you couldn't really farm and if I could just get those with relative ease, I wouldn't mind the rest so much. Especially if HoT allows me a way to control getting Zap. When I come back after knocking out the new content, I'll probably work towards making a Legendary though if Revenant can't use swords, might not make Bolt anymore.

Edit: Whoops, you said Spark, not Zap so probably didn't have to deal with Charged Lodestones for any of your weapons, eh?

I got tooth of frostfang pre out of the forge one day while casually tossing rares out of my inventory into it .

If you are going for a legendary for sure, don't use the forge. Risks are too high, even if the possibility of making off well is there. It's much better to simply save gold and buy what you want than play with the dice (which can end pretty badly and even give you more trouble down the road).

As for charged lodestones, I recently made Sunrise and that was probably the worst bit. I had a good share of charged cores to convert, but even so it still costed me roughly 200g to get all that I needed.

My plan was to just toss rares in there in case I got lucky but otherwise I planned on buying Zap.

Where did you get your cores? Just running CoE a ton?

Champion bags are my main source. Nowadays with SW, they are easy to come, so you got a solid source of them. But sincerely, you are better off getting gold and buying them. Always more versatile farming gold, a universal currency, over a specific item.

IIRC most of the rares came from boss batles and champbags so techically i got it for free :p

But that's not how it works. All items have an inherent value. Even if you make a berserker exotic set without touching the TP, it is still not "free" because you spent your resources on it, and these resources have a value.

You jest, but I believe it's exactly this kind of fallacious logic that perpetuates gambling systems.

I will choose grinding over gambling every time.

Ah yes, Champion bags didn't exist when I last played (outside of logging in for chest) and my buddy says SW is awesome for activities in general with so many people running around. I haven't tried the two newer areas Dry Top? and Silverwastes. That should be fun trying them out down the road. I'll probably just save up for gold for a lot of things especially since I may choose a different legendary weapon once Revenant comes out.

I'm currently in the middle of saving for the charged lodestones, and every lodestone or core I get is money off the final price. 💰

I'll use dungeon tokens for exos to throw into the mystic toilet, but that's about it. I have no particular need for more exotics at this point.

I got a Spark yesterday with random rare daggers from world bosses.
About 4 months ago, I got the Collosus the same way.

I'd say it's worth saving those level 80 rare weapons for forge, and sell those below 80.

So after 182,397 Trick or Treat bags I finally have my dumb dog.

The good news is that along the way I've made about 500g just on the contents of the bags, added 100-200 of every t6 mat to my bank and entirely maxed out my magic find, which goes to this weird number.

That was a lot of football/basketball games spent tapping away at my + key. Thank god for Mousekeys.

Were you still looking to sell that? Someone else in the guild was looking to buy Spark relatively soon.

Do pre's only pop out of the toilet from lvl 80 rares?

Average level of the 4 needs to be >= 75.

Wait, you can get the ghost dog AND earn money from that? Now I know what to do tomorrow!

Opening Trick or Treat Bags was practically all I did in GW2 in October. My MF is only at a mere 251% right now but before October it was something stupid low like 160%

Just so you're aware, that's a stupid high number of ToT bags. A full inventory 4 times over. Many thousand gold to buy that many outright.

Yeah it's a lot of buying some, opening, selling everything, buying more etc. Your gold will likely drop slowly unless and until you get some poly-luminescent refractors. I was lucky and got two black ones along the way which probably accounts for most of my gold gain.

Though Zuzus have been steadily increasing in price and may do to hold your gain loss/gain more constant if they stay that way.
