Mounts having skills to seamlessly transition you into combat is a great idea.
agreed.
Like, why haven't we seen this before? lol

Wait...it doesn't include the first expansion by default? What ever happened to them saying all expansions will include previous ones? Pretty lame to go out on their word after the first hurdle.

sadly a new race is a little too late
They left it vague enough so that a "bundle option" is still not backing down from what they originally said
"In the future, if we release further Guild Wars 2 expansions, we plan to offer all of the prior expansions, the core game, and the latest expansion for one single purchase price."
Edit: Well actually, as a 20 dollar add on, that seems like backing away from the spirit of that statement..
I've jumped in and out of GW2 for a long time now. I can never really "get into it". New expansion looks cool, but only because I really want to try Holosmith and that Ele spec.
How hard is it to acquire elite specs as a newer player? I really don't think I'll bother if it's a huge ordeal. I never liked a lot of the base playstyles.
Okay I just looked at the vaguest of info, and haven't followed GW2 since *quite* shortly after launch but....
Apparently Balthazar is the bad guy!? Like God of Fire and War Balthazar? And you're trying to stop him from fighting the Elder Dragons? Are they not bad guys now? WHAT HAPPENED

Anyone else surprised by how soon this is launching? I was expecting it to be 6 months out at least, with Destiny 2 launching 2 weeks before I'll be deep into that.

A range of new hairstyles and face options are available for human characters. You can access them during character creation, or update an existing characters look using a Total Makeover Kit or Self-Style Hair Kit.
So basically the story finally got interesting when I stopped playing.

Q: Do I need to own Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns in order to play Path of Fire?
Owning Heart of Thorns isnt required to access Path of Fire content. However, some content is exclusive to Heart of Thorns.
You must purchase Heart of Thorns to unlock and use the gliding mastery, as well as all other masteries introduced in and exclusive to that expansion. You will be able to complete all of the content in Path of Fire without the use of any Heart of Thorns-exclusive masteries.
You must purchase Heart of Thorns to unlock and use the 9 elite specializations introduced with that expansion.
Path of Fire includes access to the revenant profession, but not the Herald elite specialization. If you only own Path of Fire, you will be able to create a revenant character and unlock the Renegade elite specialization.
You must purchase Heart of Thorns to claim the new guild hall released in Path of Fire, and access the Scribe crafting discipline to fully upgrade your guild hall.
Q: Is Heart of Thorns included for free when I buy Path of Fire?
A: No. As we said when we announced Heart of Thorns, we always want to give you the option to purchase both expansions for a single price. With the purchase of any edition of Path of Fire, you can add in Heart of Thorns during checkout and purchase both expansions together for less than the combined prices of the expansions. If you already own Heart of Thorns or only want to play Path of Fire, you can purchase Path of Fire separately.
To purchase Path of Fire visit our official store.
Oh awesome, I didn't know about the max level boost. I might just jump in thanks to that. It's the OG story/maps that feel like a slog. I'll keep my eye out on it then.We obviously don't really know how hard it's going to be in Path of Fire, but with a little planning you could fully unlock a specialization in Heart of Thorns in a couple hours. That's probably somewhat reflective of Path of Fire, since Heart of Thorns made it easier post-launch and I would assume they're going to follow a similar route from the start.
You will need to have your character at the level cap, though. Each expansion comes with one max-level boost, if that helps.
Holy cow, we're going to Elona! That alone will get me back into the game for a while.
How are people feeling about the mounts? They always seemed pretty controversial when brought up in the past. I'm down with it though.
Is HoT playable solo?
I forget, since I haven't touched it since it released.
Sounds like gliding is exclusive to HoT owners, that true?
If I roll a new hooman and choose different story path, does it change my story all that much?
Does this living story season thing mean some of the main story quests will be different if I start a new character?
I only listened to the announcement - was there any footage of mounts being used in HoT or vanilla maps? I would assume they would be usable there but maybe not right away like with gliding.
Preview event this weekend..
launch 9/22

My wife and I haven't played in a minute. Interested in jumping back in with this expansion, mounts look fun!
Had a few questions:

Is there world pvp and an actual incentive to find gear at max cap yet?
