Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- demo out now [only Japan PS+]

Wow. Seeing the game in person feels very different than online videos. It has to be seen to be believed. I thought that the 15 fps models would look bad, but they match the aesthetics perfectly.

Does anyone know if Elphelt is in the demo? I haven't met her yet.

Man, easy difficulty is so boring up until the last 2 fights...

As weird as it sounds, this will probably be the game that makes me get a PS4. And I already have a PS3.

Well, either that, or I'll have to reconsider letting my brother keep my PS3.
 
Beautiful game. Tried getting a screenshot of I-no's standing S to see if they still left the nudity in, but she never did her standing S once... come on I-no.
 
OMG this feels so right in my hands! The music,the speed,the characters,the similiar move set yep this definatly the good old Guilty Gear.
 
I was worried when i saw the video but.. There is a catch right, some kind of downgrade..
Why are the ingame models way less sharp than the cut scenes ones... They don't look super good in game :(

They definitely seem to use different models, but the difference isn't something major. They transition well.

Arc needs to work on their animation, is my bigger takeaway. The cutscenes look INCREDIBLE, but have a really weird stilted animation to them at times. The difference is especially noticeable just coming off of CC2's Naruto

The game FEELS amazing, though. This series did the 3D transition better than any.

That's not weird I'm sure the PS3 version will be functional but I can't imagine it looking nearly as good as this demo or the full PS4 version would. Obviously it's a fighter other things come first before graphics and resolution but this is the full package in that regard.
 
The only disappointments for me is personal gripes like most of the cast Voice overs are new and Chipp sounds so bad now and the music hasn't grabbed me so far unlike the previous entries. Other than that the game is amazing.

yeah new chipp VA is horrible
he's top tier now though

maybe they'll do ggxxa+r soundtrack as dlc! ... and returning characters!
 
The old soundtrack can be purchased with in game currency iirc. I saw Still in the Dark as selectable bgm in one of the screenshots.

:o ... maybe baiken can be bought with ingame currency too :P


just finished the arcade mode. i hate playing on pad but the inputs came out with little to no lag on a 60 inch monitor. didn't try any roman cancels yet. sol's IK is so damn good and his dragon install looks boss as hell. and sol has a divekick ... air 214 k? don't think he had that in ggxx. overall, i'll probably play this on the ps3 so i can use my hrap3 on it. but ps4 version is damn good. 10/10 baikens.

Not weird to me, I'm getting a PS4 for this game this december. No way the PS3 version can look that good, and I needed an excuse to pull the trigger ;)

Xrd was also the biggest motivator for me to finally pull the trigger on a PS4, so I guess it's not that unusual. :P Once the trailer featuring Millia (my main since XX) was released it was a lock.

Was able to get this working last night. This game looks incredible. I had some concerns about the animation style from those Gamersyde TGS videos initially, but seeing it in person, they're all gone. I haven't been this impressed by how gorgeous a fighter looked since I saw the original Darkstalkers in arcades and was blown away by the animation. Same feeling here. The fact that the animated intros/outros are done with 3D models is so amazing. Hats off to the team that made this game. Hope more companies jump on with this style and level of polish. It looks so good.
 
I haven't played a Guilty Gear game since X2. I just played Xrd last night and...I'm sold. If only my PS360+ would support the PS4 properly without an 8 minutes timeout...

Definitely getting it now.
 
This was actually my first run with a Guilty Gear game. So it is all brand new to me. Really fun stuff. I have no idea what I am doing half the time since I can't read anything on the moves list lol, but with enough time I'll get the idea.

Like, I transformed somehow during one match. Don't know how. But I did!

But that's on purpose. They avoid using frame interpolation as a deliberate artistic decision. It's all for achieving the "anime feel" as much as possible, something that CC2 or anybody else has never tried before.

I get what you're saying, and I would love to see in-game models running at full smooth animation potential (personally I'd prefer it), but I'm totally ok with them emulating the hand-drawn effect here to stay true to their roots in that regard. I don't have a real history with the series, so it probably is not as important to me that they maintain that effect. I can see how it would be significant to long-time players.

Long time player here. I see no point in changing the animation when almost everything is cancelled into another attack. The animation right now fits the gameplay.

God damn I wish I had a stick for PS4. Curse you, Markman.

Yep Sol's got a divekick now and it looks like it's useful. I've seen it used in some mid-screen to corner combos along with Fafnir.

And I seriously love the new Roman Cancel system. I hope we get a lot of new players with this game because Guilty is so much fun to play and now you don't have to learn FRCs.
 
Yeah it's not MadCatz's fault, in fact their next sticks are hybrid so they're already doing as much as they can with what Sony allows them to (which is more than what Microsoft will).
 
Last Boss on Arcade first time I fought her busted out her specials ASAP in both rounds.
There was nothing I could do. The second time though she just stood there. Easy mode should really be labeled easy mode. I had no clue what I was doing and won everything with ease.

Also I still want my GG and BB crossover.
 
Got a chance to play for a little last night. It looks even better in person than I thought it would and feels so responsive. Everything is so smooth and wonderfully animated. I wish Testament was in this game, with the art style they have chosen he would look amazing. I can definitely see this being my go to fighting game for many years.
