So guys, I'm looking for a case/bag for my acoustic guitar but I'm still fairly new to this whole guitar business and am a little lost in how to go about it. Are recommendations on what I should look at? Additionally are there any guidelines I should follow when I'm looking myself?

While I'm at it, a friend of mine is looking to get his first guitar but with both us being new we could use some help. What are some low priced beginner acoustic guitars that you folks would recommend?

How the fuck did I not post my shit in this thread when it was first posted? Damnit. Love the guy with the Ernie Ball and the JEM/Universe guy.

My first bass was an ESP. Always loved the Viper. Very nearly bought one. But I love my Gretsch so much more.

Nice LTD, what EMGs are those? I installed a 60/81 combo into my S series the other day, talk about output! All my fx presets sounded like crap with them until I started dialling back the gain and turning compression off but now they sound terrific.

I should probably take some new pics, since I've now acquired 3 guitars (4, if you count my travel one), a new amp, an effects board, and a few other pedals and shit since my original post :lol

wth is wrong with me.

It's a dual 81 combo, thats the way they made the deluxe LTD's back in 2003. I think in 05 or so they started putting the 81/85 and then they started doing 81/60 like now.

Hey nny, how you finding the ME50? I used to get some killer tones with my old one.

I like it a lot, it allows for a lot of tinkering and it sounds good to me too; although sometimes I feel I have too many options ;P

Here's a snippet of my stuff. My two lovely Gibson LP Customs, my Gibson Gothic Explorer with my Washburn acoustic behind them. The amp is a Hughes and Kettner Switchblade 100 tube amp with a B52 2x12 cab with Vintage 30s.

I have a couple other guitars not pictured, a Squire telecaster (bought to hot rod) and an ESP Truckster, yeah, I'm a James Hetfield fanboy but that guitar sounds great with the EMG 61 and 80 pickups in it :D

Yeah, my room is a bit messy right now.

awsome guitars man - like fucking awsome awsome --- but why a switchblade?
you have AAA guitars but the amp isnt doing these guitars justice...

for the price of the 2 gibsons you could have bought 6 switchblades... dude! get a soldano or a diezel amp :p

This arrived today from an eBay auction. It's a Fender Squier 51, essentially a Strat body with a Tele neck. It has a Strat neck pickup and a humbucker bridge pickup. No tone control, just a volume and pickup selector, but the volume is a push-pull which can split the humbucker to a single-coil. This was a $149 budget guitar which failed to catch on. Overstock.com and Guitar Center, Musician's Friend, etc. dumped them at $69. Then, the mod community started using them as a base for swapping out pickups, bridges, pickguards, etc., and now they're somewhat collector's items (not too extravagant, though). I'm sure I could sell it for what I paid.

It's pretty nice. The fret ends are a little sharp and need dressing. It's very light. I planning on just leaving it stock for now.

I also bought a Hercules triple-guitar stand. A local music shop had it for much cheaper than I'd seen them anywhere, and gave me an open-box discount also. Works very well.

Well it says Guitar players of GAF. If you have guitars go ahead haha. :D

I have a bass guitar, does that count?

It's a 5 string Fender jazz bass guitar and that's all I know about it!

I play it from time to time

Sorry to bump an old thread. I just figured it would be appropriate to post this as it just arrived today.

I don't know if the sale is still going on, but musiciansfriend was blowing these out for $1300. The regular price is $2300 and there's usually a year long waiting list to get them. This particular guitar must have been the last of the Fireglo(sunburst) models they had left. After I placed my order their page updated and it now says FireGlo Out of Stock until April 2010!

This is a beautiful guitar and I got it for a steal.

Traynor YBA1A Mark II It's like a Plexi except with enormous hammond transformers. This amp has serious Hiwatt flavors in addition to the Plexi/Bassman circuit it's based off of. YBA1 amps are highly sought after Plexi clones. This however is about as close as you'll ever come to Live at Leeds without spending $3000+ on a Hiwatt DR103. It cost me $300!

Silverface Princeton Reverb

AMAZING amp. 1977 and in nearly perfect shape. People who spend $2000 on the 60's blackface versions of them are fools. The Princeton Reverb, Deluxe Reverb, Champ, and Vibro Champ were the only amps that changed VERY LITTLE both from the transition to the CBS era AND in 1976 when they swapped out the transformers. I got traded a Traynor YGL3 Mark III for this amp. I paid $350 for that amp so I essentially got this one for $350.

Sorry for the huge pictures. I thought this might be interesting to some.

Oh. You guys might like this one.

Martin OM-18... circa 1933. Pre-war Martin goodness! Someone burned it with a cigarette. :( I'd like to hope that the cigarette was put out on the guitar back in 1934 when the owner didn't know it would be worth $30,000 over 75 years later.

I would post mine - but at the moment by Gibson is stuck in its case
I should never have trusted myself to remember a 3 digit number
, my Explorer copy is messy as hell, and both my acoustics have strings missing :lol

I'll be back at some point with many pictures

Wish I had a decent camera to take a picture of my new guitar. Anyway, it's a Schecter C-1 Elite.

9kyr0m.jpg

I got it second hand with the finish almost perfect and the last owner had fitted Seymour Duncan pickups, which I only noticed when I got it home! It sounds absolutely amazing, far better than my other electric.

To top that off the guitar costs £500 new and the SD pickups £70, I got it for £250!

Took a couple new pics of the Ric!

I think the phone in deal is going on till the 21st so if you want a $1300 or $1000 Rickenbacker 360 or 330 now's your shot! It's not gonna happen again like... ever. Mine was the last of the Fireglos!

Sims Custom Shop Mahogany Telecaster w/ 5A Flametop.
DO NOT ORDER FROM SIMS. The guitars are good but they are unreliable, dishonest, and take an extremely long time to complete projects.

I don't have these anymore. Except for the acoustic. The amp the electrics and the pedal are all gone. :(

I love that Danelectro on the right. A friend of mine plays one. So good.

I still don't have a proper camera but I found nice photos of someone else's 6120 hotrod with the same setup as mine so...

Thanks ten59, but it's not a Danelectro. It's a Duesenberg. It's a relatively new company out of Germany that specializes in professional to premium quality guitars. I've got two TV JONES humbuckers in it too :)

Urgh, brain fart. Sorry.
I'm really impressed with TV Jones stuff. My gretsch has two TVJones classics in it.
The solid body I'm getting should have two original Supertrons in it, but failing that I guess I'll go for the TVJ version.

dude is that the Waynes World guitar?

No, Wayne's guitar was a pre CBS American Stratocaster in Olympic White. Kasandra wanted to "raise the bridge and
take the buzz out of the low E."

Mine is a FIC Mexican Stratocaster in Sonic Blue. :)

One of them is worth about 10 grand more than the other.

They also did some Wayne's World licensed guitars for both films. They are MIJ Squire for WW1 and MIM Fender for WW2. Both have a custom Wayne's World neckplate.

Damn man just how many guitars do you own? :lol

Somehow related to your career? Anywho awesome range :)

You might say that to a very small degree.

I own 8. I'm surprised nobody has quoted the Martin yet. That guitar is worth $30,000.

Also got a new one. :D

An Epiphone Dot ES-335. Love it already. Sounds so much better than my previous one.

In its new home next to the Marshall amp.

Next to the "old" guitar (a cheap Les Paul knock-off, made in Korea I think), which was my first guitar ever.

Next up: a new & better amp and to start looking for a nice acoustic.
