Gunbarich & Strikers 1945 coming to Switch eShop by Zerodiv (supports portrait mode)

Quite popular theme back then.

yup
I have a famicom clone that resembles a N64 clone(!). It came with a 1942 clone cartridge (back in the old clone days there were no "built-in games").
Surprisingly it only plays that cartridge although famicom games fit perfectly into the slot.

Afaik no other games are available for it, so I use it exclusivly for 1942..

Oh damn both available in NZ now. Not sure which one to get. Anyone have any idea which one is the better buy?

Strikers is a no-nonsense shmup and Gunbarich is a Breakout/Arkanoid-style game that occasionally lets you shoot bullets, so I guess it comes down to whether you want something traditional or something a little weirder.

Might go for wierd I think cheers.

holy shit, I just realized, the switch could be a great shmup system.
I remember when I created this thread here :

I could feel the potential. Let's make this happen, so that more shmup/pinball games make it to the console :)

And I confirm that you can put the Switch vertically on the Hori stand.

Bought both, I haven't played the originals it seems like very solid ports. I wouldn't mind some kind of controller sensitivity setting as or actual analogue control though.

On TV or handheld? Is the TV lagging or is it the port?

Was in regards to input lag, appears to definitely be incorrect as I bought both games just now, and they appear to run and control just fine.

On another note, Gunbarich oddly doesn't support the pro controller but Strikers does. They are also listed as 42% off on the JP eshop, below 500 yen each.

Bought Gunbarich and like others have stated, seems to be a solid port. Portrait orientation is a great option, the Hori stand is perfect for this mode. The arcade screen filter is also a nice plus, I prefer it over the default.

Edit: well actually in TV mode the filter is not so good. Also no input lag whatsoever.

wait holy shit i can use the Switch screen vertically for shmups

wooowwww

Nice, I will definitely be adding these to my list! Glad to read you can make better use of the screen.

And portrait mode is great news for the hinting at Pinball FX3 coming eventually :)

I just watched a quick play video of Strikers, I did not see an option for Vertical mode in this guy's video. Can anyone confirm or show a screen shot of it in action?

The innards of the Switch are basically mobile components. Even if Cave doesn't do the ports, I'd bet a company like Circle or Teyon might if these and other SHMUPs sell alright.

Cave make mobile phone games, I wasn't referring to the consoles components or architecture.

Whilst console releases are nice i would rather see more Cave games on PC so they are not tied into console lifespans and can still be played in 20 or 30 years time.

European release PR. They're up now.

GUNBARICH for Nintendo Switch (Zerodiv) - €6.99/£5.99
Gunbarich launched in arcade version in 2001. It is a new game with elements of puzzle and shooting in the late works of Japanese brand "Psikyo". In Japan's amusement arcade, there is always one popular game.

STRIKERS1945 for Nintendo Switch (Zerodiv) - €6.99/£5.99
A revolution broke out in the shooting game in 1995. The Japanese brand "Psikyo" introduced an new enemy's attack "Spread bullets" not shooting before then, and the history of a new shooting game began.

If you are a shooting fan, "Psikyo shooting" that anyone knows is revived! Shoot!

Tried using my US credit card on the Japanese eShop but it's not working. I swear I read somewhere that US cards worked on the Japanese store.

Very few do. But these will be on the US store in a couple of hours anyway, so why not just wait.
