Gunbarich & Strikers 1945 coming to Switch eShop by Zerodiv (supports portrait mode)

Bought gunbarish!

It's fun even if the visuals are a fucking mess. I can barely see some things.

I played it vertically, with the screen on my belly against a coffin lol. That works!

It's a shame they don't let you reverse use the vertical control buttons when the joycons are plugged actually, cause i tried and well.. i would totally play it like that, vertically, with the joycons attached to the screen. it seems the best!

what if you desync one joycon after detaching it and letting one join synced and attached?

I've heard that Strikers 1945 Plus was basically a remake of the second game with some content from the first game. Does Plus make the first game irrelevant, or are they distinct enough experiences? I love SHMUPs but I haven't played this series yet.

I bought Strikers 1945. The game is fantastic.

My favorite shmup is Sengoku Blade, I play it on Sega Saturn. Strikers 1945 is pretty close to Sengoku Blade in terms of gameplay. What a surprise it was ! Bought the game blindly, never played it or any other from the series.

Scrolling is vertical and setting is WW, but that's pretty much it for the differences. All the mechanics are the same, and I love how these games play.

This is also the kind of 2D that I love the most. Very clean, incredibly smooth animation, and the art-style with darker colors for the backgrounds allows for a very easy to read action on screen.

TATE mode on Switch is awesome, I play the console on the Hori stand most of the time, and it works perfectly well with it.

3 display settings : raw pixels, smoothened pixels, smoothened with scanlines. This last option is very good, I am satisfied with the results. This is pretty close to what Hamster has been doing with its Neo-geo ports. Same interface, good quality.

I did not find a way to re-assign the buttons however. Default layout is not the best.

If you like shmups, Strikers 1945 is definitely worth checking.

The vertical option doesn't work anymore for me -__- it worked one time lol! Now when i unplugged the joycon, the button mapping doesn't change and i can't use buttons at all actually.

I'm having this same problem. Worked fine the first time, but now every time I start the game it won't let me use a detached joycon in tate mode. =/

Edit: Having said that, it just worked again for me. Weird.

They are definitely distinct. I had the MVS cart for Plus, and it's a great game, but I actually prefer Strikers over II and Plus.

I really can't say enough good things about Strikers 1945. The planes all feel unique, and I've always likedhow the first four stages rotate, so you aren't entirely sure what the sequencing is going to be, and depending on where they land on the rotation, the bullet spreads are different. It does get hard as fucking nails though when you start getting into stage 6 and above, but it isn't like you're losing quarters here.

I made a couple gameplay videos for both games and tried my best to show off the modes and orientations as well. They are really great ports, and play awesome. Strikers 1945 has been a favorite SHMUP of mine for years now and GunBarish reminds me of Kirby Blockball so that makes it a winner right out of the gate. :)

As an added bonus I also spent time with the new ACA release of Aero Fighters 2 as well...

You should play Sengoku Blade if you haven't yet, it is the same mechanic and the game is awesome.

I've been wanting to play Sengoku Blade for a long time, but it never came to the arcades here, and I never pulled the trigger on importing it for my Saturn. Looks awesome, though.

Awesome, thank you! I'll pick it up then.

I love Strikers 1945.
I know if you did well enough the characters would undress in the ending. I wonder if they replaced it with something or if they're going for that hard M rating that that retro shmup fans crave.

I just checked the eShop and it's rated E, so signs are pointing to it being cut out.

When should we expect new releases?
No word but several other games run on the same boards as Strikers 1945 (Psyiko 1st Gen) and Gunbarich (Psyiko 2nd Gen). Emulation/porting shouldn't be too tough then.

Sengoku Blade
Sol Divide

Vert Shooter
Dragon Blaze
Gunbird
Gunbird 2
Space Bomber
Strikers 1945 II
Strikers 1945 III

Table/Other
Mahjong G-Taste
Quiz de Idol
Taisen Hot Gimmick 1-4

Sengoku Blade was the first arcade shoot em up I ever played as a kid in Vietnam in a ghetto PlayStation arcade. Very great memories. I have it for Sega Saturn now but it'll be a real boon if it came to the Switch.

Bought both games. Gotta support more arcade ports for Switch! Plus, tabletop tate! :D

Never played Gunbarich before. Hope it's good!

Does anyone know the original arcade button layout for those using a stick please?

There is a Switch stick out already?

Pretty sure these would just be 2 buttons originally. Might be 3, not sure if the auto-fire in Strikers was in the original. In any case I normally use the bottom row on a standard 6/8-button stick setup.

Here you go.

The Hori stick just came out :D

Cheers dude much appreciated for the pic.

$175 delivered from Amazon.co.jp via their global shipping if you need it quicker. In stock.

I'm good with waiting. Thanks for looking out.

Am I the only weird-ass who wishes there was a mount built into the stick? I'm not sure how exactly that would work considering the USB cable. Interface with the joycon side mount things, I guess. I just want a cheap bar cab.

Got both. Love Strikers since ever. Really enjoying Gunbarich as well. Now i dont know why everytime i play Gunbarich it forces me to play with just one Joycon. Need always to go to Change Grip/Order to be able to play with both.
Also it seems there was some effort put into Gunbarich's release, with its UI and even the display options being diferent from Strikers.
Wish we could add more time per round to Gunbarich, even instead of adding lifes.
Solid releases, highly recommended. Just to bad theres no replay save and online leaderboard. Buy it people.

Fuuuuck I wish you could plug in a USB controller when the switch isn't docked. Vertical and the hori arcade stick would be amazing.

Maybe with a USB B to C adapter? Has anybody tried getting USB controllers working undocked?

Type C adapters indeed work for wired controllers on switch.

My brother got Strikers 1945 on switch and I have the Sega Saturn version, should try them side by side when I get a chance.
