Yuuma is a super Z fan, I bet the most creative thing he can do is combine Z and Hiyaku Shiki

also what did the other two teammates K dude do? Were they inside the suit too?

I don't think Yuuma is a super Z fan. So far he has used an Airmaster from X and a ReGz from Char's. He just seems to have a preference for flying transformable types.

lol yeah I'm pretty sure they just sat in the suit and shouted "Trion 3" all the time

Maybe they're in the fists, ala:

One of the funniest comics ever made.

Great couple of recent episodes... shit is finally starting to pop off in the national tournament. Everyone's got OP Gundams ready to duke it out.

SD-R basically Super Deformed Renatoes

Well I was more curious if they'll give them a direct relation with the Renatos. The blue hair triplet just seems like the next step for blue hair twins lol. They already name drop a ton of S1 fighters (like Shia training under Julian) so it wouldn't be too weird I suppose.

Caught up tonight. Happy with where the show has gone, although that 3v3 format is really biting them in the ass in regards to all the essentially faceless filler scrubs that crowd out the matches. I thought the Tryon 3 (and the backstory for that team) was a neat take on it, with one 'ace' just flat out carrying the others to the nationals, but for the others... meh.

Also I really like the Star Winning; the other two upgrades are boring but whatever, Fumina has a funnel shuriken and it transforms and stuff. At this point it's like a bad punchline whenever Yuuma's appearance is prefaced with how he won the artistic gunpla competition.

To be fair, Yuuma probably only dealt with superficially nice looking gunpla. The guy can't build a box in the street, much less innovative systems. Minato is leagues better on that account, just based on his gunplas particle deflection.

Yuuma is still a scrub. The beating he took by gundam jesus will set him on the right path. All we need now is sei to mysteriously show up and teach yuuma and sekai some build techniques. Also man is the try burning gundam boring as fuck as an upgrade. Star winning is the best out of the three.

The Star Winning gimmick has been really obvious since the first designs leaked. It's going to be really cool to see it first happen on the show though. Hopefully Fumina has some cool moves planned with the Real mode.

I dunno what was more awesome - Tryon 3, surfing 00 unit on Age lasers or MOTHERFUCKING CROSSBONE teased at the end.

And, the funnel beam shuriken reminded me of this:
200

Episode 16
tl;dr - AGE sucks, and everything related to AGE sucks. No one even wanted to draw that monster, so they had to use cheapass CG for it. Awful. Gross. It looked fucking terrible even when it was exploding in 2D at the end. x_X
This made me laugh so hard.

The hate in Gundam AGE is overblown. It is not that bad. Hopefully we can see more AGE units in this show.

I wonder if Meijin somehow will use an AGE unit. The reactions within the Gundam community would be priceless.

I'm confused what the gimmick is. Is it that the armor pieces can be used as armor by another suit or that she's going to make a second separate kit based on the Star Winning? Or are we going to get a Seravee/Seraphim type suit?

My initial assumption about the full sized Star Winning on the box is that it's just like a hypothetical "this is what Star Winning would look like full sized and it'd make for a cooler box design" rather than be an indication of what's coming in the show.

Judging by the silhouette in the OP and some mockups people have made online, the pieces will either combine into a regular sized suit, or more likely end up being an addon armor for Burning/Lightning (since there are already SD kits that can do that, I think).

The opening tease and box art points to Star Winning having a full-sized mode.

The backpack of the Star Winning contains arm and leg extension parts. If you look at it carefully, you will see that the beam blades are meant to be weapons coming out of elbow and knee parts. They're just formed in a backpack shape. The gimmick will be that they can break apart, and connect to the Star Winning body itself, making it a mech with normal proportions.

This fan mock up illustration should help visualize it:

Ok that makes more sense.

So since it looks like it's going to use the upper torso and shoulders of Star Winning as the main body of the non-SD SW 1:1, it's going to be a pretty small normal proportion Gundam?

There was a mockup of Build Burning with the armor pieces that threw me off because the suit in box art is obviously not BB.

what are the chances they'll keep Star Winning HG mode secret until her match with Shia? or do you think we'll see it before? maybe even next episode fighting the SD triplets

With the model kit coming out in Feb, and the brackets making it such that the fight with Gunpla Academy is likely the finals, almost no chance. I think we'll probably see it next week.

Team SD-R: "This wasn't in the data! Uwaaaaaa!"

BATTLE ENDED

TV people: "Something Artistic gunpla contest something something."

You do realize that Obari, who does a lot of work on this show, made a mecha series called Gravion, which actually did have pilots in the rocket punches. That comic has been outdone by actual anime already. The Trion Z combination sequence even directly references the Gravion combination sequence a little, so we can't actually rule out the manned punch thing entirely!

Lol. particle manipulation? Rofl. This gundam is broken.

On another note, I vote for ShiaxSekai pairing.

It's less Gravion and more Might Gaine and SRX from The Inspectors.

Gundam Build Fighters Try Episode 17:

Well, we can safely separate this episode into two parts, the pseudo-romance parts of which there is a special place in hell for the creators of every agonizing moment of this shtpile. Seriously, trying to push Sekai as some kind of girl magnet is just not working since he has about zero swagger or game in his whole soggy body.
As far as the match goes, as expected now that we are out of jobber central the matches are back to being good and watchable. Team SD-R are the first credible challengers that Team Try Fighters has to go through and it is no easy task. In between the ninja tactics, the absorb system, and the god damned dragon, this is already a highlight of the season and it has a second episode since we have a final form to fight.

Thank goodness we can go back to having actual fights again. Sucks that this one is a two-parter though. :/
Oh, well. Hype for that
SD Dragon!
