Them drill brehs dont get that they never had a shot. Nothing but a poor mans child of trap music with none of the fun, creativity, swag or sense of community.
Herb was probably the one who was the most creative out of everyone who was doing drill, hell on Welcome To Fazoland he was breaking free from the drill sound a little and seemed like he was going to become more of an artist. Espically with that track he did with Earl Sweatshirt.

Problem wih Herb is that he fucked around to much after Fazoland dropped and didnt bother to capitilize on the buzz he had by signing a deal and working on an album. He just continued to drop worthless singles and keep people waiting again like he did with Fazoland and ppl werent paitent anymore so they dipped.

The trap "sense of community / creativity" hahahhaha

ATL trap is just as much of an endless cycle of dickriding of the moment stripper anthems, dudes in tights acting like they're going to shoot each other, and making the most disposable shit that doesn't translate or resonate anywhere outside of the Noisey Internet or urban radio

as opposed to drill music resonating nowhere outside of youtube and the end of a chicago city block? drill aint shit man.
Pretty much. Trap has been running hip hop for like 5 years now, you can actually reach places and money from it to at least flip. Almost consistently you have dudes bursting out and reaching heights, even if temporarily.

Drill had Chief Keef and.. that's it (plus he got an extra push from Ye). Even to the average hip-hop fan they probably heard Durk, Louie and Herb's name once and never again. People only really check out shit when it becomes a recurring thing you hear about. They all did nothing with it, and somehow put out less consistent shit than even the trap scene. They haven't given anyone a reason to care TBH.

I agree w/you on that, no doubt.

Just saying, you wildin when you talking about trap being a big time better style as far as the other shit goes. Trap is just the next step in 00s ringtone rap.

and when trap is done it'll evolve into something else (just like snap and crunk before it) and keep killing. southern shit (and it's sound imitators) dominating rap airwaves and clubs is pretty much a fact of life at this point.

Also this Travis Scott vs OG Maco beef is refreshing. Even better that it's the south and about biting...
I don't think it's a beef really, reading this.

Maco isn't particularly wrong, but Travis' stuff is much further from generic than Maco's output is. Anyways hip-hop took an L because I had to look at this picture:

Maco looks like he went head first into a vat of cookie dough ice cream at a parlor and only managed to wipe away what was on his face before he got caught.

Snoop isn't gonna change, even if he said he's dropping gender slurs from his lyrics (though Pharrell made him do that). That doesn't mean he should get absolved from what he says and how he acts, but it plays a role in when you think about the situation.

It's still fucked up, and it's fair that they called him out on it.
