Gwent - Open Beta Thread: Not bad, not bad at all

Looks like I was right not to mill any cards yet.

I'm sure there will be tons of changes like this since it's an open beta, so I'd advise everyone not to mill any cards unless you really need the scrap. Wait for changes like this than only mill the cards that got changed.

So how much will I get for milling a foil golden card? Will I get the 800 scraps + the meteorite powder?

All this info is still to be confirmed by devs, and they're saying some stuff has changed. So let's not get too carried away for now. For translated list of changes that may not be correct anymore, see this.

Yeah, I've stocked up about 150 scraps from milling, which I'm guessing should increase in value a lot after the patch. Can't wait!

Either that or 1600

Or they could be cheap and just give you 800

I'm leaning towards 800 + powder (I think it's 400)

Yup I think it's + powder.

Because otherwise you could effectively buy scraps the coming 2 weeks. 800 scraps legendary > 400 powder > mill into 1600 scraps > rinse and repeat.

Also, I only have the option to choose Witcher 3 music. What happened to the closed beta option of being able to choose the other music?

I think scrap refunds are stupid. You crafted something, got value out of it already, why should you be rewarded again after it gets nerfed? Why not compensate the people who crafted Djikstra and got no value out of that card because its awful?

What if you crafted RNR, Drought, Tibor and three foil Novice's the day before the nerf?

For me personally I'm glad they're doing it the way they are (assuming they're giving full scrap for people who crafted the card or got it in a keg), but the more fair way would be to do it the elder scrolls legends way. If you crafted the card you get full scrap, if you got the card in a keg, you only get the regular amount of scrap.

This might work once the game goes live, but wouldn't work in closed beta. Everyone would be too afraid to use scrap on a deck that could be nerfed completely at any time. Based on the PTR changes, the new patch could change around 60 cards.

RNR, Drought and Frost nerf sounds great.

Philipa Eilhart and Reaver Hunter Trio damage is exactly like that in the game already. :/

Tibor just got nerfed by 2 points.. I dont play NG, does this even count as a nerf?

Disappointed by the Nilf nerfs. The problem is in their toolkit, but they simply addressed the numbers. That being said depper changes may take more time, we'll see.

Agree, but there is no going back, too many people get pissed when their netdecks are brought back to a normal value.

Birthday's are good

More packs to me :3

I know it's been said again and again, but it's insane how generous this game is. Just ranked up - six kegs! Five more ranks worth of rewards to go. Not to mention season rewards.

Because there is money involved. That hard to understand?

Frost nerf hurts Vanhemmar hard. No point in ever choosing frost over bomb now
How long till the dev-stream? I'm hopefully home from work by then...
2h 15 min

Just when I thought I was good at this game, I Renew-Igni'd the wrong row against Reaver Hunters (it wasn't > 20 while another row was) and lost the game, breaking a pretty good win streak today.

Help

Cerys change:
Cerys - fixed the tooltip to correctly state her ability only triggers when she's in the graveyard.

I just got the choice to choose between the following, but Cerys is foil. Should I choose it? Will I get double the value because it will be changed after the patch?

Edit: me and my luck with this game, holy fucking shit. 14 packs, 2 legendaries (one foil).

Choosing the RNR because of the nerf and double value.

Edit 2: and finally:

IF we get double scrap back from changed cards, I'm expecting to go from 1900 scraps (when milling) to around 10k when I dust all the (changed) cards... jesus.

I also wonder about premium versions of changed cards. 1600 scrap or 800 scrap + 400 meteorite? The latter seems more likely.

I think scrap refunds are stupid. You crafted something, got value out of it already, why should you be rewarded again after it gets nerfed? Why not compensate the people who crafted Djikstra and got no value out of that card because its awful?

But again, why would you compensate the people who crafted good things, but not the people that crafted bad things?

Dijkstra is getting changed, at least according to the leaked notes, so you'll get full value back. I don't see why returning full value back for cards that get changed somehow pisses you off. You would rather people be refunded for bad choices? How does that kind of arbitrary cutoff even begin to make sense?

Edit:
Also WTF at Yoshi's packs.

Fun little interaction I just came across: Redanian Knight + Torrential Rain. The Knight gains 2 every turn because it keeps on getting rearmoured. Combined with Henselt, you could have 3 of them on the board, each gaining 2 per turn.

RNR and Drough nerfs sound great

RNR: 2 Damage to one highest unit on each row

Drought: 2 Damage to one lowest unit on each row

I can finally get rid of one or two of my 5 anti weather cards

Damn, only 5 days to mill nerfed cards? They should lengthen that. The reason is that people should get a chance to actually play with the new versions to make a decision to mill or not.

5 anti weather cards? Sounds like overkill.

Can't wait for the RNR/Drought nerfs. I don't even GG people with them anymore.

Lol neither do I.

Funny thing is, when they lose, most dont GG me either

Weather decks can have as much as 4 frost cards, RNR, Drought. And a bunch of Monster cards that benefit from weather, including two cards that move your units to a different row.

I needed about 4, plus decoy just to keep up with some opponents. And of course, theyd save RNR or Drought for the end, hoping you used every one of your weather cards.

Sometimes I cant even draw weather, which is why I carry so many

You don't need to remove every weather though. And it's actually really weak to do so.

I got by for a long time with a single silver weather removal. But later I added a bronze lane clear after I switched from emhyr to calveit because calveit is more vulnerable.

But even with 1-2 weather removals I have a high winrate against monsters which seems like the main faction that spams weathers.

Imagine all those weather effects against a deck that plays maybe 1 weather. It's going to be much weaker as a result.

rip skellige!

I think the skell nerfs have been rather tame and actually quite appropriate.

Especially the savage bear nerf.

I have only seen like 3-4 card nerfs though.
