Gwent - Open Beta Thread: Not bad, not bad at all

I'm just inside top 1000. Been hitting pro ladder as hard as I reasonably can and just play a regular match when I see that I got passed up on top 1000. Only been getting +15-20 or so on a win but that's enough to bump myself up 150 spots at a time so seems like I'm in the middle of a big bottleneck but that's fine with me.

Also, sorry about the tournament, didn't see your message through gog until like7 days after you sent it lol

Yea seems a ton of people are around top 1000. But losing now means -25 or -35 even, and about same for wins, so a lose streak hits hard.

Well was close to top 1000 again, then went on a 7 game lose streak, so fucking sick of ST cancer with movement into hailstorm that you can't play around and NR that you just can't bleed out and always high roll against me no matter what I do. Cancer decks.

Anyone have an issue starting the challenges? I managed to play through two of them, but now every time I try to start one, I just get an endless loading screen.

What's weird is that I'm having the same problem on my XB1, my PC and my PC at work!

So bizarre....

I remember Xbox had a problem before where the last monster challenge wasn't possible to start/load, I think some person on Reddit solved it by changing the language to Russian.

I'm not sure if it will help you in this case, but worth a shot.

Reading over many of the responses from rethaz on reddit has been pretty disappointing.

Pretty much a "fuck you internet, we can't win, we'll do what we want" attitude.

Mill matches are not fun due to length. My deck is actually a very strong counter and I almost always win against them. It's still not fun.

This + Imperia Enforcers aiming at a bazillion cards per game makes me dread Nilfgaard matches ; I also win most of the time, but God are they endless slogs.

Because I'm very tilted after losing I'm sticking to only the first tier daily these past few days/weeks. And it's working for me right now. 28mmr away from rank 20, and maybe 2 wins away from top 1000. Went 3-0 today so stopping again. But hopefully tomorrow rank 20/top 1000. Then I can just climb a little further and then hopefully chill a bit and slowly get rank 21 before season ends.

I haven't played the game since the new season debuted... been playing too much Siege and Dead by Daylight in the meantime.

Thinking about coming back though, what are the dominant decks out there? Is consume or weather monster still strong as always?

I'm seeing an awful lot of Nilfgaard but I'm slowly building my rank back up (15 right now). Consume is virtually gone at this level ; a few weathers here and there.

Mill is annoying to play against but so are many other archetypes and decks. Mill needs to be viable so it can punish the super greedy decks so I'm fine with it being in the game. There's cards that destroy that deck anyway and it's not like it's super strong (was like 1-5 from the first day of that tournament, didn't bother watching the second day).

GAF is this game ever leaving the Beta phase..feels like this joint been running in "Testing" mode for years.

Any official date posted for launch?

Hasn't even been a year yet (next month) but no, no official date yet. If I had to guess, I bet this is the last season of beta and they'll do a full release with the kingbreaker campaign.

Wonder what this is, another update already? That's pretty fast. Season doesn't end for another month.

Hailstorm nerf and maybe some NR nerfs? I'm not even seeing much NR anymore. I even switched away from them a while ago because I felt it wasn't working as well anymore. Skellige could use some buffs too.

They should reveal that release date for the Thronebreaker. Maybe some info about it's new cards and how they fit into mp.

Got rank 20! Was top 1000 for a second, lost the game after I got 1000 straight away. Won game after but now around 1200th. Seems it's super close around there. But as long as I don't get any huge losing streaks I can get/keep top 1000 till end of season hopefully!

Hmm, today I learned that players can match with each other regardless of which region they're in .. (Asia, South America, Europe etc)

Not sure if that's a benefit or flaw.

Been playing a bit everyday and am at player level 8 right now.

My initial two Golds were Woodland Spirit and Birna Bran. I initially though I'd go with Monsters, but think I'll concentrate on Skellige and Scoia for now. Crafting the Silvers, especially for Skel (where most of them see play) takes for-e-vur.

Just crafted Sigrdrifa. Will probably craft Olgierd or Dorregarray next.

I really like how Scoia seems to have a lot of different archetypes to play with. I'd love to concentrate on them more, but since I lack the golds, I figured I'd start with Skell first.

My favorite art in the game so far is probably Ida Emaen, Birna Bran, and Herbalist (all animated of course). ^^

Not far from accessing ranked then. As Skellige is probably the weakest faction in this patch, i would recommend experimenting with those other factions as well (if going for that ranked play). Scoia'tael seems to be doing fine there though.

Deckbuild/Collection merge is coming

Deckbuild/Collection merge is the most important change they could possibly implement.

Seems like the kind of UI thing that was needed before coming out of Closed Beta.

Are we satisfied with how the board looks? Maybe something could be done to make it look more... i don't know, wood-like. Little things.

If the single player is similar to the Mahakam Ale Festival, then it will be amazing.

The expert mode challenges are almost like puzzles

I thought apart from the Dandelion one they were just as boring as the hearthstone single player stuff. Was just glad to get it done tbh.

I think this might be the most diverse meta and balanced the game has ever been? Pretty good stuff from CDPR I have to say.

I finally started playing this. Beat all the challenges and built a Skellige deck with the guy that gets buffed when enemies on the opposing row are hurt and a bunch of damage to throw at my opponent's units. So far I've faced nothing but quite clearly netdecked freeze monster decks or whatever you call those, but somehow I'm doing alright. And having a lot of fun.

It blows my mind a bit how gorgeous almost all of the card art is. I thought Hearthstone was pretty but Gwent is on another level.

Hurr gold weather, hurrr another gold weather. 3 losses in a row to cancer ST.

I get a draw against a guy who is higher ranked than me: no change
Get another draw against a guy lower than me and I lose points.

Fun fucking game CDPR.

Even Nilfgaard running Gold weather, jesus christ.

The premiums in Gwent is on a whole new level, I find Hearthstone premiums to be a bit lacking and the gold border is ugly.

I highly admire and appreciate the art style of Gwent, it's certainly much more pleasing to look at in contrast to Hearthstone.

That being said, the latter has that goofy cartoon art style that is central to its universe, so it's not as if Blizzard can really adjust it. I'm just glad that I never invested substantial time and money into Hearthstone.

With regards to the current meta, Geralt Igni seems to be useless now that most units are agile : |

I wish I could take all the money I invested into Hearthstone and put it into Gwent, because it feels like wasted monkey now that I gave up Hearthstone for Gwent.

Yeah Geralt Igni seems a bit harder to trigger now with the Agile Update, wish they could revert to the 20 power requirement like a patch ago.

771th on the leaderboard. Gonna stop playing ranked till I'm like 900 or something and just play casual for a daily. The dropping seems a lot slower now so maybe I can stretch it out a long time.

Nice. I got to 4.3kish MMR playing Swim's SK restore list when it was new, then decided to foolishly try to push for Grandmaster.

I fell back down to 4k MMR. T_T

I really do want the fancy Yen avatar for 1000 place finish this season, so I might just try to try hard extra hard this next 2 weeks, hopefully end up like 500 or so and pray that that's far enough along to not get kicked out of top 1000 by the time the rush to play Ranked kicks into super high gear.

Yea I switched to his deck when my monster hybrid started to lose me more than I won. This deck got me into top 1000 a few times, then I lose a few and then win a few and go back in.

Another new card:
