I don't buy, it because it's not listed for consoles. There's no way they botch Half Life 3 by not bringing it to consoles day-and-date. Apart from Portal 2, Valve has never shipped its games day-and-date on consoles. Hell, Alyx never got ported to PSVR.
And let's not start with all of their GaaS titles.

The vast majority of people that play shooters are on console. You don't release a game as high profile as Half Life 3 and skip where most of the players are at. It's not DOTA or VR. Portal 2, the example you've given, proves my point exactly. It would've been completely ridiculous to not put it on consoles.
It's been in development (if these rumors are true) for so long that not having the time or resources to have console ports developed alongside would also not be a reasonable excuse.

But TGAs is December, tho. So someone's getting their wires crossed or the rumors are bullshit. Either way, I'll believe it when I see it. Valve could go on another 100 years and never develop another Half Life product, and take no hit at all monetarily or otherwise. Their business is operating Steam, not developing games. They don't need to make any games, is the hard truth.

I played HL2 and the expansions as part of The Orange Box on 360. I didn't really get what the big deal was. I guess the engine tech was amazeballs on PC a few years earlier? It didn't really wow me in 2007...
I would probably pick up and play HL3 eventually just to see what all the fuss is about, but I barely remember anything from those games. Head crabs, gravity gun, a gnome, and the shooting was okay.

Well it aint exactly the same thing. They locked the game behind some 300mb preloading and having to use Steam to get it to work but any PC could run it. Still Id rather they put it behind a brand new console than what they did with VR which is amazing game but too much point of entry to get the game. Valve new console where everything is optimized and just plug n play and can play HL3 highest setting? Sure.

3D =/= VR. And I'm not even talking about motion controllers, It's the way VR conveys the sense of presence, scale and being actually surrounded by the game world in 360 degrees, not just looking at it through a window.

To be fair, Bloodborne, Switch + launch games, Sonic Frontiers were all leaked on 4chan randomly. Not a trustworthy place at all lol, but it does happen, rarely. That being said, it's Half Life 3 so any rumour should immediately be discarded lol. Not only that, the very nature of the site itself makes it impossible to trust anything

Half-Life 2 was really good either. Half-Life 1 was s-tier as a game. Both 2 and Alyx were created to sell something, Steam and VR.

the leak was insanely extensive as well, with a screenshot of an early version of King's Canyon n stuff.
