Halo 2 Rumor- New Year's Gift from Bungie?

Does anyone have any concrete information on this rumor? There are all sorts of things flying around that Bungie is going to do a few things tonight.

1) Reset the Xbox Live stats for Halo 2. From this reset they will be monitoring cheaters, exploits, etc

2) Give us three new maps...Being Sidewinder, Prisoner and Hang Em' High

I have no clue if this is wishful thinking by Halo 2 players, or has any base, but there's a lot of talk about it. And I could actually see Bungie doing something like this tonight...

But I'm wondering, have any of you heard anything? Discuss.
 
I would imagine that Bungie would give a little bit of advance warning if they were going to wipe the stats.
 
Don't just troll and guess. Discuss possibilities or bring concrete proof of ir being false or something.

One thing...If Sidewinder ever comes back, I think it'd be the perfect map to bring the Fuel Rod Cannon in Halo 2's multiplayer. It was really fun in Halo PC, and in Sidewinder, it might work in Halo 2.

Stinkles working for Bungie is just a rumor. But again, there is no magical surprise new year's gift from Bungie today.

You havent seen the exploit video? There's glitches all over the game that allow players/clans to cheat, like tossing a flag through the wall.

I havn't seen the exploit video can someone post a link to it, thanks.

BTW: I seriously doubt bungie would do a stat wipe it would piss off a lot of people.
 
Fix the cut-off time for the modem reset and I would be happy. Fixing the glitches would be nice too. These things need to be fixed before we get any new maps, even though Hang 'em High would be godly.

No, you're both right. Slayer on Coagulation and Burial Mounds both suck.

don't get mad cuz you keep getting pwned on the maps.

Colossus sucks tho for Team Slayer because of the uneven slant on the map. 1 team gets the sniper and moves to a base and it's almost game over. You have nearly nothing to counter it especially if the sniper is good.

Dopey, next time we play, remind me to give you a swift smack in the back of the head. Burial mounds and Coagulation are the most boring piles for Team Slayer. Both of them rely far too heavilly on snipers. Coagulation is alright on big team battle, but it is absolutely terrible for any 4 v 4 games.
 
funny thing is i dont see the exploits happen that much online. Mostly because some of the exploits require teamwork and communication which alot of people know nothing about.

But then I do see certain exploits from time to time that are easy to pull off....

like flag bounce in colossus....omg that shit is broken like hell.

or the assault on midship where u score and then place the ball into "impossible to reach area"

also ironclad.....man i love coag. i just hate when mouse and kb players goto cheap sniping spots and just head shot everyone....then get more ammo and headshot everyone again.....then at the end of the match they have like 30 headshots with all 30 of thier kills.

the 2 maps i hate are ascension and burial grounds. They both are WAY too Weapon dependant....which imo is bad. the whole goal of those maps are to contrl snipers/rockets...thats not how halo 2 should be.

They're cheap. Last night, I unloaded an entire SMG clip into a guy, at point blank range, only to see him dead me with one shotgun blast. With the swords, at least, you're afforded some chance of evasion. No such opportunity exists with shotguns.

man, u cant unload on someone point blank range if they got a shotty.

shotties are WAY easy to stop.....stop them similar to stopping a sword user.

just stay away and keep shooting at the person....ive stopped so many shot gun people who would chase me and unload and just die.

plus shotgun is needed cause its one of the counters for the sword.

I agree with you. The snipers get on my nerves in coagulation, and the other team can just grab the rockets, and then just whore the vehichles. I can get really frustrating.

The shotguns in esscense are a fine weapon, but there have been numerous times where I would be an inch away from an enemy and shoot them with a shotgun, and it would only knock down their shields, or less, but the same enemy would shoot me once from a meter away and it would kill me instantly. The inconsistency is extremely furstrating as well.

Yes now that i must agree with.....there have been so many times where id be pointblank with someone and the shotgun doesnt kill them with one shot and im like WTF?!

then i get killed in one shot.

bungie needs to tweak them...cause I dont know if its lag that causes that or what.

Bungie also needs to tweak needlers to make them, i dont know....USEFUL.

The needlers are absolutely hillarious if you are dual-wielding them. They're so pathetic, and the fact that none of the crystals actually hit the enemy, but go bouncing around everywhere.

I have shot people pointblank with the shotgun, and haven't killed them, but then there will be other times where I will be killed from a meter away by a single shotgun blast. The gernades need to be tweaked as well because there have been times where I had full shields, and a single gernade killed me, and it wasn't a plasma gernade either.
 
They just changed the insta-kill distance for the shottie in Halo 2, is all. A point blank shot won't do as much damage as one slightly away from the target where the shot has a tad more time to spread into a large hit radius. The effective hit radius for the shotgun blast is cone shaped. Hit too close and not enough hits register; too far and the damage is spread out too wide.

hmmm thats interesting and explains alot.

not sure if im happy with that but now that i know i gotta play applying that knowledge seeing how it sits with me.
 
You know I kinda liked the human Halo weapons better when they weren't being all realistic. I like the old Assault Rifle better than the 3 shot burst new one, and hell they shoulda put that shotgun info IN BIG LETTERS in the manual. Something like "DESPITE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE GOTTEN USED TO IN EVERY GAME YOU HAVE EVER PLAYED, THE SHOTGUN ISN'T BEST USED POINT BLANK".

i dont know, i LOVE the battle rifle. Its just so much better than the assault rifle imo.

hmmm, cant say i agree with that. the plasma rifle is pretty damn bad ass IMO, when weilded with an smg.i consistantly tear people up when i have that combo on colossus (of course, i only go for that combo when my plasma pistol is drained :P)

and as far as the rumor goes... i doubt it. besides, if they do three maps from halo 1 and damnation isnt one of them, i'll kill someone.

i was thinking the speed of the projectiles... its funny that in the e3 zanzibar demo, they flaunted how improved and usefull the needler now was, then the game comes out and everyone realizes its still a total POS
 
The needler owns (Brutes). That's stupid about the shotgun not be as effective. More force to a smaller area would be more concentrated damage that should penetrate a shield and kill you. But its nice being shot and surviving to aim your shotgun blast at their head and kill them right up close or a few feet away.

You need less than a half clip just to trigger the explosion, add dual weilding into the equation and you could take down target after target with 'em without reloading... even then reloading takes less than a second even if you dual weild. :lol

As op_ivy said, they were faster and more useful in the demo... but if it were kept that way with the above advantages they'd be unstoppable.
