Being able to break out of these maps is a godsend. Not only do we have Covenant canvases, I always get the bestest Halo 3 vibes from just shoving a teleporter outside of the map's boundaries and exploring.
 
Managed to find a little time to work on Fivewinder, my in-progress H1 Sidewinder remake.

Pics:

All the main classic structures are done including the tunnels. Now I've got to add rocks and trees and general flair around the map to make things prettier and less basic, and ease some jarring transitions.

I do have some work to do on top mid, I've expanded that area but havent fully decided what to fill it with yet. Considering a rocky area full of cover like H2 Sanctuary. Heck it might be fun to even put the middle sanctuary structure in there.

I've added some launchers on the map inspired by Avalanche.
 

Ohhh, interesting.

I hope people do some cool shit with this. It would also be nice just to get Forge pieces with that texture style for all the pallets in the future.

Whoa, I really like this concept.

Some patches of snow would help the look pop a bit more, and sell the 'alpine' location IMO. Also, for whatever reason it reminds me of this Halo 3 art.

well... Im glad you asked Homeboyd, saving issues nonwithstanding (which I still cannot do)

its buildout complete!
minus the door, I have an array of prototype doors in a testing corner i built up in the skybox

tweaking some lights here and there, but every crate and such I wanted is there

For my Turf remix I kept the geometry of the back streets, encapsulated it, and mirrored the map! Double Turf All the Wayyy (Im really excited about this map, so hopefully you guys dont think it sucks lol)

I have a really good idea for my Foundation remix, but Im behind cause of all these save issues
not-video'd, co-forge on an awesome Colossus and Terminal (pss, get really hyped for colossus)

I will allow you 1 hype, because I know you really mean it JD.

Id say we are.. 75% done on the buildout, basically everything except ground terrain. After doing some walk arounds on Terminal I realized the terrain is very very varied and has alot of heights, slopes, dips etc, and we havent found the strength to really hit it hard just doing terrain, but we will get there (the parking garage and blue base are finished though, and I love them)

Those Turf and Foundation remakes - have you played games on them yet? Players don't get lost in the shadows or anything? They seem like they would be too dark for regular gameplay. They look really nice otherwise.

I didnt generate lighting, but yeah Ive done some run arounds, players show up fine. Remember that Spartans do seem to have their own light source and stand out very well against dark backdrops.

I'm glad you haven't let the save issues stop you, because these build outs look amazing!

I've been getting way too engrossed in Arena, not touched Forge in awhile. I think tomorrow it's time to rectify that.

I still haven't finished a single map :S

either way, thanks, I busted an hour or so on my Foundation remix, only to realize it might suck, so I scrapped it. But.. with the extra time I worked on Terminal with my buddy

Looks like the Halo Online version of Turf aesthetics wise.

Yeah I wanted a moody, dark, sterile, abandoned feel. Dont recall the Halo online version, but if its good I wont complain. There isn't a a single curve on the map, which is where I contrast with the remix that almost all the aesthetic geometry is made of curves.

Looks great, but in the left side:

Whats wrong with the shadows?? o_O

Can't tell what's wrong from my phone, but everything from time of day, fog, shadows, lights, etc is still very much ongoing, whatever you see that's wrong assuredly we will grind off in punch-out.

I have supreme confidence in all my other projects, this one is a stretch for me, very challenging map, but I have high hopes!

Edit: I'm most excited for the remix honestly. So many possibilities!

God ducking damn earthquake bug ruined an entire map. Fuck sakes 343. I am putting way too much time into making maps, just for this shifty bug to ruin everything.

Finally rebuilt my new map after the murder earthquake.

Pretty happy with this one. It evolved a fair amount as I carried on building it. Might be an interesting CTF map but its Slayer focused map.

Uploading some footage and images now.

Made several updates and now its pretty much what I want out of the map.

Updates:

- No longer at Night Time [Day time just works better]
- Initial spawn area for both bases is no longer visible on base ramps
- Doors have been arched to appropriate sizes
- Ring 1 has now has a small nook to hide behind just like sanctuary/shrine
- Sight lines from Ring 2 fixed
- Bases ceiling lowered to better fit with spartan sizes
- Got rid of previous human theme (hotel) now have trees with invisible blockers
- Reduced the Light objects, due to map moving over to day light

Had to download The Battle of Hoth from Mr Pokephile just to see it. Now I'm just imagining having a working multiplayer map like this in a playlist. Would be amazing. If it's even allowed.

I wish I could forge, but I can't forge worth a damn.

Hey, jump in an give it a shot. Tools are much better and you might be surprised.

Some people love making layouts for maps but need help populating them etc. You can always co-Forge if you want a bit of help but you may as well throw out ideas and see how you get on!
