Is there a good place to check for images of all the new maps? I only saw that counterstrike looking one and the human-themed one.
 
DMR is just face-meltingly awesome in this game. Absolutely vicious at distance, (pretty handy mid-range, too), and every shot sounds like a fucking thunderbolt. Love it.

Slayer is still loads of fun, but I can't wait to try some objective gametypes. One's coming in week 3, right?

I've been having trouble actually getting the kill with DMR, probably due to my reliance on aim assist in prior games. At least I get lots of assists with it.
 
10/10 on my first games with a 9.9 KDA and I got an Onyx 2...

idk I guess I'm ok with that. Not really sure what I could have done differently to get a higher rank. Is there really only 200 "pro" ranked players? I've seen like a dozen already.

Also spectate is unbelievably awesome. It even works on my shitty 1.5Mb DSL connection. I'm guessing it must be using a similar system to theater where it's not actually streaming video, just the game data and then recreating it.

edit: oh duh its the theater system i can even change pov's. Wow this thing is amazing.

Semi-Pro and Pro look the same, but yea, 200 Pros, though I think Semi makes up the top 2%.
 
I think any game where 2 or more people quit should automatically end without penalty. It's completely unfair to the other two teammates who are now 2 on 4. You are basically FUCKED. You lose and take the huge negative KD or you quit and drop even further in rank. 100% if two people quit you are ranking down. Which is an awful way to set up a game.

Let them. Derankers are idiots and never really bothered me. I'd say if you are quitting more than 5 times in an hour you get banned for 5 hours or something. There has to be a happy medium. It's not fair to those who remain and get their ratios fucked.

What's to stop a party from helping their two friends who stay not derank?

^ All for a timeout if you quit. The only answer to the other problems is play with friends or a mercenary playlist.

Your scenario is saying that the negative should go to those playing correctly so some positive doesn't go to cheaters. So we get screwed so they won't get benefit. That is a losing situation for people doing the right thing.

I could not care less about a few cheaters getting out of my rank and getting away from me. I'd rather it be that way. Their skill will show when they play whomever they end up actually playing with. You can't fake skill.
 
I'm beginning to feel like CoD has made Halo devolve into a grenade spam fest. Seems like my controller is just constantly vibrating from grenades going off. Since when has Halo been a constant nade spam? People can't even shoot in a fair fight anymore, it's just chuck two grenades in the general direction of some enemies.

Halo's trinity since the first game is guns, grenades and melee.

no, CE/2/3 were more about shooting. Nade, headshot if you were good enough - but more one on one. Not 4 nades at one person, over and over. 3 was never like this, and I played 5,000 games of 3.

There's a bug in the beta (it seems) where if you back out after a match is over instead of waiting, it takes you to the select a playlist menu (which it should, and stay there) but instead it then glitches to a loading screen and boots you all the way back out the main menu after a minute. Really annoying, considering the other problems like not being able to back out after intermission is over (but you can back out if you start from scratch) and half the time the new match bugs out and boots you anyway. The beta shouldn't make it so backing out every match end if preferable. That's bad design.
 
You could carry 8 grenades in the first two games, lol. Halo 3's were extremely weak unless they landed directly on you. Reach had grenades that were impossible to escape. So yea, lots of grenades have been a huge factor in basically every Halo.

H3's grenades were perfect. You shouldn't be able to be killed with one grenade, and you should be able to get away from them. They are meant to be supplements to shooting, we're not playing an first person grenader. They should take down shields some so you can shoot the rest away. Also, it seems like if you shoot someone a couple times and grenade, it doesn't kill. But one grenade and a shot kills. There's not enough bleed through in that area - it should be equal.

Yeah but remember in halo 1,2,3 it was only fair fights and only one on one. No one would throw a grenade at you if you were fighting someone else. Remember? ;)

allow me to roll my eyes into the back of my head.

1/2/3 didn't have sprint so it was much more likely it was 1v1 or at most 2v1. Also I'm not sure you always started with 2 nades in all modes either.

Halo 5's grenades remind me of Reach's.
Bouncing to everywhere and hard to dodge, only smaller which makes them difficult to be seen.

Its so annoying losing your ranking points because you got a 2+ K/D but you lose because your teammates go 1 kill 17 deaths or smth like that (had a round yesterday where my mate and i both got about 15:3 but the other two guys got about 2:16). Also you cant play with friends who are lower ranked, because once you lose you will lose a really high amount of points but just gain 3-5 from winning.

Atm the ranking is just rewarding you for playing with a group instead of playing alone in matchmaking.

If they want to keep this ranking system they should at least fix the mm that you only play with player equal to your skills

this x1000. It's awful currently. It does not reward you for playing well, it only gives you anything if you happen to match with good players and you pull off a win. I've gone 3.0 and lost and ranked down.

I wonder if rumble pit has will have ranks and how they handle that
 
I cant select a playlist, the servers seem to be down. Is it for the BR starts and new map update that's going to come out soon?
 
Got up to onyx. Rank system seems fine to me, despite the "BUH-BUH-BUH MY KDR!" bitching ITT. It's punishing to lone wolves, such as myself, but just like in every sport known to man, all the matters is the W. So uhh... find a party I guess?

Matchmaking is only a marginal improvement from MCC.

Unless you're sprinting you feel like a freaking tank. Base move speed is too low while sprint is too fast.

Massive visibility problems with seeing weapon pickups and opponent grenades. Weapon pickups need like a little holo above them or something if they're going to have such indistinguishable silhouettes against the surrounding geo.

Current meta of two teams pelting away at each other with ARs, both hoping to luck out and get some wonky/random bounce with a ridiculously OP nade to finally set up a kill is really tedious.

Melee feels irrelevant and clunky.

Halo is supposed to be based off the trifecta of guns/nades/melee. This feels like nades/AR to me.

I like the menu music tho.
