I just left a match. Not sure what you are talking about.
Load times are long. Some of these things are obviously a result of releasing unfinished software a year in advance. That's not apologizing for them that's just using a bit of perspective.
I'm not sure how you even know what servers they are pairing you with but if a lot of people are experiencing network issues that's something they need to address.
I really didn't expect them to be patching the beta but that a problem I agree and it should be addressed for the retail version. Again with the ages. Come on now.
Ok this last line about you saying these problems "shouldn't" exist is just silly. Again, it is early software and you don't really understand what that means. My experience really hasn't been the same as yours so I'm not gonna pretend like your frustrations aren't real but I think your expectations for this beta were way too high. I played the same beta and was struck by how polished this game is a year out from release. Just different perspectives I guess.
I will say that this reply was far more helpful I addressing issues than some of the previous comments.

I have too. Its crazy how this turned out. MCC was and still is in many ways a disaster and this Beta works better and is more refined in my experience.

Here's my perspective on it: if you can't understand that this is pre-release software and it's going to be riddled with bugs, errors, and generally odd design decisions (that generally aren't design decisions at all, but rather incomplete progress) and respond maturely to that, what you need to do is

You are not contributing by whining. No, it's not the same as giving feedback. Feedback is useful if it's delivered with a mature tone and reasoned analysis. No, you don't have every right to complain. It's not a release, we're supposed to be looking for problems, and if you get upset every time you find one, your feedback will probably be filled with hyperbole and ultimately without value. I'll just drop in here and say that Septic is right to be annoyed by some of these issues, they are genuinely frustrating. And you are also right Poodle that this is pre-release software and not even close to the final UX and online experience for the game. It's a result of packaging things up for beta so early in development, far earlier than any past Halo game.
There were a lot of tradeoffs that had to be made to get the beta out this early. Obvious things like the inability to back out that may seem easy to fix are actually stop-gaps to prevent worse bugs that still exist at this early stage in development. These issues will be addressed, but not during the beta timeframe.
Your patience is appreciated and it's been great to see so many people having fun with the beta despite all the rough edges. Thanks for the feedback and support.

I understand its a "BETA," but its hard to test the Beta when it takes forever to get into a match.
I'm sorry, there's just too much awesome shit to play right now then sit in a lobby for more than 5 minutes while it searches for a match.

I played one game, and realized how awful the gunplay is compared to Destiny. Oh well back to Destiny I go.

technical issues are frustrating, but expected. the only problem there is that they're compounded by the general inconvenience of the XBO OS.
the biggest problem with the beta for me is that it's mostly representative of what the final product is going to look like. i don't imagine any significant changes being made if they've made it this far in development. the final game will be polished and refined i'm sure, but things like Sprint, ADS and everything else holding this game back are here to stay. At this point, i'm accepting the fact that "Halo" means something vastly different to 343, and I'm not sure i want to support it.

But HALO cannot stay still as a product. They also have to make a game for the next generation and these kids like CoD.
And to be fair: If you want to old HALO thats what the MCC is for (the problems aside which should hopefully be ironed out in the coming months ...)
Yeah, had that happen to me on my first round of breakout. Do not like the game type, but that was funny.

I don't want Halo to stay still, nor am I interested in outdated Halo games with sloppy mechanics and poorly designed maps.
I just don't like the direction Halo 5 is going in. It's carrying over the problems from the old games like poor spawning weapons, stale map design and defensive abilities while introducing more problems that ultimately slow the game down. Meanwhile, chunks of the meta game have been thrown out in favor of shallow mechanics.
Halo is more than just "weapons on map, slightly long kill times, ranks and vehicles", and I don't think 343 understands that.

That is easy to tell.. The Americans in the lobby is the first giveaway ;-)
But if no one is talking, then just lobbing a grenade and watching the delay is enough to tell you where you are. Instant grenade on screen, then you are playing in region. A slight delay between the the animation and the grenade appearing means that you are out of region, and all the other shit that comes with it. Unkillable enemies, getting shot around corners etc etc...
I'm in the EU, and I get a lot of games out of region. Now I just quit, and research. It is annoying, because the ability to choose the datacenter would end lots of problems for everyone not in NA.
For me this is the biggest problem with the beta. If it ain't included in the full game, all my mates who love the beta are gonna forget this... Me included at this point. I don't want 343 deciding where I play. Their idea of matchmaking is to cater to US players and go fuck yourself to everyone else.
But Xbox is an American console after all.
Considering they handled Halo 4's MM and that was fine, I believe it'll be okay for launch.
Considering how fast halo 4's multiplayer died because of users leaving the game, I'm surprised this game still has the shit abilities from halo 4. Plus no 4 player local online? Sucks so hard

Fixed. Destiny has the craziest auto aim I've experienced. Every shot is a headshot in PvE

You don't like the lobby, I get it. I don't either - but it's BETA. And that seems to be most of your problem. What do you have to say about actually playing the game? MM is not broken - please explain.
Ranking, I will say, is broken. It doesn't reward your skill, only if your team wins.

Disagree completely. None of those things you've mentioned are holding this game back in the least. This is the most fun.i've had with Halo MP in a long time and far more of a natural progression of Halo game play then 4 and Reach were.

They're just not used to games without massive amounts of aim assist. It takes getting used to/skill.

Cheers for understanding and honestly, I don't mean to come off as a whining prat but when I'm sitting there streaming a game and all my friends and naysayers are watching, when previously I've told them how great the game is, I just end up looking like a fool too when I'm sat in a lobby for 10 minutes struggling to find a game or in a US lobby and they can see it's all laggy.
I cannot pretend to be a game a dev so pardon me for my ignorance when I identify issues as minor ones.

The game, like I've said before, is brilliant. Unlike a few skeptics, I think everything from the sprint, clamber, thrusters etc beautifully compliment the Halo formula. It's smooth and when you're in a game from the same region, it's just brilliant.
When I refer to matchmaking I mean how you're grouped up in teams. Far too often I'm up against pro players and I'm not even a gold rank and have people who haven't even attained a rank on my team. Their kda and win loss ratio is negative and that's a stark contrast to that of my opponents.

only tip I can offer: stick with your team. stay on someone's hip. going lone wolf is a sure way to get murdered repeatedly. the team that can put the most reticles on a target is the team that will win. If you find yourself dying, then asking, "where the fuck is the teaaaaaaaammmmmm!??!" you may have made a mistake. go find them when you respawn and stay with them.
Playing this game like Titanfall of CoD is the surest way to get murdered repeatedly.

that said, it's really, really clear to me when opponents are lagging or have a better connection to the host than I do. I suddenly can't win any 1v1's. It's like, "WTF is going on...", then it occurs to me that it's probably not me suddenly missing shots I was hitting every round prior.

Get better at aiming. Lower sensitivity. The lack of aim assist is exposing YOUR flaws.
It doesn't suck. There is just barely any auto aim. So......people just need to get better at aiming. It's still a 4 shot kill, like the "real" halos.

Guess I've been in some laggy servers then, I'm on target but sometimes it's more than 4SK. I had footage of me being dead on and shields would take forever to pop with it.

Yeah thats what it seems like to me. So glad they toned down the auto aim which ironically often made it harder for me to aim many times.
Could be. There's currently a bug causing some people to connect to the wrong server regions. Yes it plays solely on dedis, which I might add, are some of the best I've played on when I get the right data center/server.

You guys summed it up. The BR owns in H5. But now you have to be a better player to use it. Even hipfire feels better than ever to me. But lag will always mess with your shots no matter which halo you are playing.
And I love that there is a larger difference between the BR and the DMR in this game, largely the scope. In H4 I always went with the DMR just because I liked it better but now the BR is better for mid and the DMR is better for long. Now I like both.
