Halo 5: Guardians Beta Thread | Hot Red on Blue Action

Yep, they really need to let us select which Azure region we want to play on. At the very least they need to show it and take latency into account with rankings etc.

Get on twitter and start hasseling 343. I tweeted Josh Holmes yesterday asking if they were going to let us choose the datacenter for the full game.

He replied and said that they was looking at it considering the beta feedback. We need to keep this going and get as many people as possible asking the same thing.

@ Vlaud where are you in the world dude?

USA unfortunately.

Hate to say it but this game got old pretty quick. Was fun for a week then nose dived - feels like the titanfall syndrome. Bad sign for a Halo game. Onyx rank with a 4ish kda - but I dont find the game fun to play - it doesnt have that Halo fun. Its too serious or something - hard to place. To be fair, im more of a Big Team Battle dude, so I hope that redeems it.

I'm still enjoying it but yeah, variety is the lifeblood of Halo.
There are only so many times I can play Team Slayer with the same settings before burning out.

I need Objective, BtB, Action Sack, etc...

Also, Copying

I'm thinking some polls might help with gauging opinions and provide data? If no one minds, I'll make some.

Regarding your single most hated Spartan Ability. Personally I hate ADS with a fury, bring back classic scope.

Funny people keep posting about lag yet I've just played 4 of the most lag free games I've played since the start of the beta. This game is a completely different experience with no lag. It's a different game.

I was addicted the first couple days and really enjoying it but now that I've put a fair amount of time in to the game, I'm already losing interest like some other people have said.

It's definitely a huge step in the right direction but just doesn't really hit home with me. I'm sure I'll pick it up but I see this following suit of Halo 4 and Titanfall in doing well at launch and then everybody abandoning it.

There's still a lot of time left and things we have't seen so hopefully it all comes together well. Best of luck 343.

Perhaps they switched on the Aussie servers.. Incredible game without lag

I get what people are saying about getting bored with the beta, but Halo games usually launch with a ton of content. I wouldn't confuse a limited beta testing pool for how quickly you'll get bored in the final product. So far my main takings away from the beta are - long live equal starts, and movement and gunplay feels good - which means the rest of the game should feel good as well.

So I just booted up mcc for a game of multiplayer.
And I get booted three times. I switched it off.

I think I will play titanfall tommorrow for a while.

Spawns are fine.

Grenades bouncing completely randomly because of all the horse shit on the floor is what makes it bad.
You can't consistently bounce grenades off of anything in that map because of how weirdly curved every piece of geometry is. Bungie's Covenant architecture didn't have many straight lines, but at least they used mostly pretty based shapes for environments. Maps like Heretic or Zealot for instance had a bunch of flat walls while still maintaining that organic Covenant look. Plus, the walls that weren't flat were at least linearly curved so it was easier to predict where you grenades would go if you tried to bounce some off of them.

And now we've got 343's Covenant geometry where every wall is a mess of constantly changing shapes and zero consistency. Really makes it less easy to consistently bounce grenades off walls the same way. Makes playing on the Covenant maps a bit messier than I'd like it to be, especially on Regret.

Having a fucking blast with this beta. If I having this much fun with the beta, God knows it'll be a problem when the final game comes out. And lol at all the people who were calling the death of Halo when those grainy, short clips with the ADS were leaked. The Crow Buffet is packed!

That is only half the problem...

The other half is you have no idea if your/their grenades will just skip passed or stop dead and instaexplode.

When it's not lagging, this is an incredible game.

Regret needs some more spacial orientation. I just realized that the one side has more grass and shade while the other side has more sunlight, but that's not enough to find your bearings at a glance. This is especially true since the lift in the red base is still blue.

Bu...b...but it looks good
Grenades are really inconsistent right now. Needs tweaking

Okay so when I first started the beta all I said is "This is not the classic halo" so I play without comparing. Couldnt do it though as I failed to like it at first. With each game I started to like the game more and more. Now, I find the game fun as a "new direction" Halo and its playable. They need to nerf some guns though cause obviously they're ridiculous.

so does the match-making choose a server for you? How does it work?
Or not work.

The game choose for you unfortunately. If you are in NA you are good because most games are played there. Anywhere else... Luck of the draw.

This game needs a choose the datacenter option like titanfall

It sure does. If it stays like this, I don't think I'll play it when it releases because the lag is infuriating. It turns a really good game into a mess.

I would say I'll play MCC for a bit but I'm trying to search for a H2A game now and no luck.
