Halo 5: Guardians Beta Thread | Hot Red on Blue Action

I threw a plasma last night and as it was approaching the guy, I shot it and he exploded with it, lol. Shooting grenades is a problem in this game, way too frequent.

Yup. Same thing happened to me yesterday and it happens frequently in H2A as well.

They should address the issue somewhat.

Anyone else getting into laggy games. I only played one match after the update but it was so laggy. It was very hard to win gunfights. I went 12 kills and 15 deaths in that match because I could be shot and killed after going all the way around a wall (and most times it would take 6 - 7 BR shots to kill a guy). I thought it may have been my connection because looking at the Detailed Network Statistics showed 100% packet loss and I initially thought my modem may be going bad. But the first page on the Xbox Support Forums shows someone else having the same issue with 100% packet loss only on the Xbox One.

If I do a Speed Test and Ping Test from my computer it is fine. The issue with 100% packet loss on Xbox One started last night at around 11:30pm EST: http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/...support/f/4269/p/1896387/5109062.aspx#5109062

Anyone else having issues finding matches? For me it fills up and if a person quits it'll never find people to replace them.

Yea, if someone quits it very rarely is ever able to replace them, best to back out an search again. We ran into an issue last night with 3 people where it would never start the game, and someone would always quit. The minute we had a full party it worked almost instantly.

Played a few games finally.

This is difficult as fuuuuuck, but I like it - need to get used to all the new abilities and controls but I think when I do it'll be really rewarding.

Why does it looks so lo-res though? Like, I know it's 720p but it looks even lower than that.

The 100% packet loss happened to my brother in law last night too. I am not sure why? He also did the speed test and it was fine.

I'm having issues even getting together in the lobby with a friend. For him it says we're both in the same lobby, for me it doesn't, sometimes vice versa. Then when we finally get together it doesn't find the replacement players and have to back out and start the entire thing over again.
343 really needs to get their shit together with their matchmaking and their menus. It's a joke at this point.

It seems like there are a fair number of people experiencing this today. Looking around the internet, I found a Youtube video for a supposed "fix," but people in the comment section are saying that they too are getting 100% packet loss today on Xbox One. I don't know if this is affecting the server performance on Halo 5 for me or not, but I never had lag quite like I did in that match today.

They should really disable the grenade effect that launches you up in the air. A lot of times people will throw a made and I'll try to stay clear and it ends up launching me up or to the side right in view of the enemy. They are already powerful enough they don't need that.

So do most people agree that the ranking system is okay for what it is, or is it too skewed against you? I'm in Silver 1 right now, and I'm a decent player. I'm not great or anything, I usually average a K/D of 1 or slightly less than 1. I'm finding that I could win a few games in a row, but then you lose one or two matches and your progress is lost. And to be fair, some of the matches I'm just a flat out drag to my team, ending up middle to bottom of the scoreboard, but other matches where I try to carry my team as much as possible, I might end up with a K/D of 2 and we'll still lose and I'll still lose ranking points. I'm just finding it really hard to climb to Silver 2, much less any other full on rank.

Its good but I think its a little biased against people who play with randoms.

The game is SUPER team oriented. And the ranking system is SUPER win oriented. Combine the two and people who get into games with randoms are not gonna rank up.

I play odd hours so usually solo. I have a KD of over 1, am a somewhat a decent player and I cant get out of Bronze T1. I have friends who are definitely worse at this game than I am (by some margin) in Silver tier simply because they roll with a full party and consequently win more than I do.

AGREED. I got propelled right into someone's fist during the initial release super frustrating.

Man, I haven't played yet today. I hope it won't be a mess. :/

Yeah, that should be removed. I also hate when I team mates standing directly behind me because they can push you around and a lot of times they will push me out of cover and into enemy fire. So annoying.

I'll test it again in a bit to see if it was a fluke, like putting me into an out of region server (even though the update was supposed to address that).

I'm enjoying the beta a lot more than I thought I would. I wasn't so hyped for 5 because I didn't care for 4 all that much, but after playing this I think I'm in.

The sheer amount of time it takes to get into games just puts me off the game. You can't back out, you're stuck in a lobby you know won't find a game. It's just too much.

I know this is a beta but why is it such a headache getting a game or worse trying to find a game with your mates? The Halo 3 beta, although closer to release, was never like this.

These are basic things that are compromising our chances of formulating a thorough assessment of the game.

Why is everything so dark.

Just started playing today and had two matches on Truth, and while it was kind of dark, I thought that was the design. But the menus are really dark. I noticed it when I was customizing my Spartan. "What color is that? I can't see."

Am I the only one that can't see a thing in this game? When I have the sword it takes up such a large portion of the screen, and is so bright I cant hardly see what's going on right in front of me.

1st killing frenzy. Completely in love with the beta. It took a few matches to learn the map layout and now I can't wait to play more. Maps are kinda small though.

Anyone having success finding matches with friends? My friend and I can find matches easily alone but together, we can't find anything or it gets a full.lobby but never loads a game.

I thinking it may be an issue with rank. I'm a bronze three and he's unranked. His first two matches, his screen froze but his player was in the game. His kd is -7 and its going to take a lot to shake it.

If you're in a party, go to party>leave>leave multiplayer, it will break your party up. Also in the bottom right, you should see two different sets of numbers, the one on the left is your party count. If it says two, you will be matched with your teammate, even if your screen doesn't update to the search lobby.

I wrote this in the community thread the other day,

Some tips for H5 MM.

-checking your scoreboard in game and hitting certain buttons moves you from party to game chat.

-Always back out after a match, the B option is there for the first ten seconds or so. The load screen takes a few, but if someone leaves during intermission, it usually errors out eventually.

-If you get stuck in MM away from your party, go to party, leave, leave multiplayer, it'll boot you back to the home screen.

-If you get the "your party has changed" have the people in that party leave MP from the party menu to break the party up so you can reform.

I've not had much issues following this. Sucks that you have to do it, but the game is early, but it already works better than MCC, so I don't think it shares whatever problems that game has.

I played for about 3 hours earlier with a friend we found matches really fast

I've been playing with friends all day so far.

It certainly does not feel like Halo much... but I still love the game.

It's kind of a bittersweet thing, we'll never get an old school Halo experience again, but I like this too. I wish we could have both, MCC is great but it's the old games, not an evolution of those.

Halo 5 feels like something almost entirely different, a revolution of the series of sorts.

Since the update I could play only one game in more than 3 hours, and that game was 2vs4.

Is that an MCC update ?

I'm really getting bored of not being able to enjoy Halo because of so much MM problems...

Had this thought as soon as I launched the beta for the first time. Definitely needs to change.

Also complete my first ten matches and got placed in Silver 1. I've gone positive K/D in every game I think, so I'm surprised I wasn't a little higher.

I just tried going back to MCC after this and couldn't find a match alone within 10 minutes, wasn't able to party up properly, and had a "game over" screen before the match loaded upon finally finding one.

It's sad that a beta for a game that's a year away works better than a game that came out almost 2 months ago.

Your K/D doesn't change your rank only wins and loses do.

Has more to do with the competition you're beating than your K/D, I believe.

Yep. I just tried to play BTB and 15 mins of sitting here, it hasn't even found one player yet. I don't know which studio is responsible for this screw up, but I hope MS stays away from them in the future.

Playing alone is this game only lead to frustration ride with a team or just don't play IMO

Yeah. I have no friends playing this so I'm just playing with randoms and I'm getting slaughtered. I mean, it doesn't help I'm learning the controls and map layout while being thrown in with those that have been playing longer, but damn... I've sucked in the 3 matches I've played. lol

It's the reason I'm not playing this as much as I would want to. I need to study during the day, so I can only play at night. I try and get a few games in with HaloGAF when I can, but it's not always easy.

I'll take having a few good experiences over a lot of negative ones, though.
