Wow...your name fits this post perfectly. Moran indeed.
Bungie has been on a downhill slide post-Halo 2. It's too early to say whether 343i is going to be able to "fill Bungie's shoes," but that's not exactly saying much. It says something about a development studio when the best game they've made in the last seven years was one they threw together in eight months, ODST. Halo 3 was an overhyped, overrated piece of shit and Reach was a little better, but still a pale comparison to Halo 2 or Halo: Combat Evolved. They may have been great 10 years ago, but they haven't proven themselves worthy of the elite status some give them on this board.
Besides, this is being judged on a quick remake in partnership with another studio.
I have absolute faith in 343i and the Halo 4 team, especially considering Corrinne Yu is doing the engine. I actually went out of my way at HaloFest to tell Frank just that, and let him know that I'm standing behind the new team as a Halo fan, not just a mindless Bungie drone. Halo 4 will be the first real test for 343, and the team they have assembled is truly an all star line up of talent, if people would just take the time to research the AAA projects they have been involved with before, you'll see that Halo's greatest days are ahead.
In terms of the remake, it's fantastic. Sure there's a few graphical issues here and there, and the framerate may stutter from time to time, but these issues are very minimal. This is truly an incredible update to a 10 year old game. What 343 has done is simply give us a small taste of how passionate the team is about Halo, because this is truly a labor of love, and that puts me at ease.
